Good food. Pleasant service. Tables a little too close.
SLOW service. Had empty wine glasses, cocktail glasses and water glasses. Had to request refills multiple times. Took kids orders, then we waited a very long time for even the opportunity to order our own meals. Just overall inattentive service. Great food, though!
The food is always good here but what made our evening special was our server, Nick. He knew the menu inside out and made excellent recommendations. But what made the difference was his personality. Charming, clever, attentive- everything you would want in a server. When next we dine at this restaurant we will ask for Nick by name. He is a treasure!
All around excellent from the moment we stepped through the door. Service and food were outstanding and the recommended wine pairing, perfect.
Very good food, attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, staff. Nice ambiance.
I absolutely love this restaurant. I took my friend here for her 1st time and it was wonderful. The pear quesadillas and the best. I tried the blood orange martini and it was excellent. My friend had the pear martini (my norm) and she loved it. The salmon with cauliflower risotto was exceptional. We ended our meal with the pear tart with salted caramel gelato. It was to die for. Another great dine st the peasant and the pear.
The Peasant and the Pear used to be my favorite place for lunch with a friend. But the quality of the food seems to me to have deteriorated on my last few visits. This week I ordered a Waldorf Salad that looked interesting with chicken, grapes and pears along with traditional Waldorf expectations. The lettuce was from the core romain; it was hard and colorless and tasteless and lacked fresh presentation. We requested lemon for our water, which never came.
I did appreciate that candied walnuts were substituted for the cashews as I requested. Cashews seemed a strange addition to Waldorf salad.
Everything was really great! I just wished my food had arrived a bit hotter! But that would not stop me from returning! I have enjoyed may great meals there!
Our server, Rochelle was excellent, we enjoyed her service and her recommendations of food & wine. We had a blast that night!
Lamb shank was awesome. Crowd was noisy😫
I reserved a table for four at 2 PM for lunch. However, the minute we were seated, we were requested to make our lunch order ASAP because the kitchen was going to close. Why take 2 PM lunch reservations if the kitchen is closed? My brussel sprout salad was impossible to eat due to the fact the brussels sprouts were raw and cut too thickly. I Will not be going back.
Great food and service
Heard they had PrixFixe on Sunday night. Either they don't have it or not available for Memorial Day weekend. Whatever. I ordered filet of sole (special) Grandson ordered NY steak and Granddaughter order salad with chicken. Everyone ate it all. Came here for lunch several times - and Sunday for brunch - first time for dinner. Will add to short list of to-go places in Danville.
Had a very nice relaxed lunch with a friend. The service was excellent as was the food.
The food was outstanding, and the service was 1st rate.
The service was great. We went on a Wednesday night and had a really hard time finding a parking spot, circled for about 30min. The staff were all great and we very attentive without being intrusive. We ordered the bone marrow for an appetizer, I had never had it before. It was good, my husband, who is more adventurous than I really liked it. The signature drinks were great! I had the salmon, which was amazing and just the right portion. My husband had the lamb which came with a polenta, which was way to rich! After one or two bites you were done. If I were in the area I might come back but I can think of a lot of other places that have a better abeyance that I’d go to first.
They were very nice and accommodating about adjusting our reservation time since we were running late due to traffic. It was a quick and easy phone call, and our table was waiting for us when we arrived.
We had a lovely Anniversary dinner! Gluten free options. Delicious food. Fantastic wine 🍷 great staff
Had the tuna nicoise salad. The tuna was so delicious; well seasoned and cooked. But the pear quesadilla was nothing special. It required the sauce to make it interesting. We thought the pears would be inside the cheese quesadilla?
Our waiter was excellent. Nice seating outside.
This is a lively, small restaurant with excellent food and service. Doesn't disappoint!
Food was great as usual. Not too busy or noise level would have been increased.
Service was good, did not feel rushed
Birthday dinner was a great success. Steak and Frites is a must! Brought wine from home and corkage was only $20.00 . Service was splendid. Free Birthday dessert was the bomb. Cost half what a trip to the city would be.
I have been to Peasant and the Pear a number of times and went there Monday for a birthday luncheon. Was very surprised at our experience.
We were seated promptly outside but it took 10 minutes, if not 15, for the waiter to say hello and ask about drinks. The restaurant was maybe half full.
After quite a bit of time, he came by and asked how we wanted the eggs cooked for our sandwiches. Eggs take 5 minutes, if that long. After catching his eye a little while later, we were told lunch will be right out but it was another 10 minutes before our sandwiches were served. It had taken half and hour if not 40 minutes. The toast on our CalifBLTAs was cold. The bacon not well done at all. 2 of us had french fries which were pretty warm and crisp, as we had all requested, whereas the third sandwich had cold and definitely not crisp fries. Our waiter came by a little while later and asked the iced tea drinker if she'd like more. No offer when he brought the iced tea to replenish our water. Took one plate to box up the leftovers but never cleared the other dirty plates until we received the bill and asked that they be removed.
And, not sure why one checks off 'an occasion' when making a reservation if nothing is mentioned or acknowledged.
Not the type of restaurant where service like this and somewhat mediocre food is expected. Hopefully the waiter was just having a bad day and they were short staffed in the kitchen.
Received our water 20 mins after being seated and waiter could careless to take our order. He just keeps bypassing us. So we left the place as soon as we saw the waiter took the order of the people who came after us. Very poor service!
Wonderful food fabulous service. The scallops entrée is too small to be an entrée- it should be classified as an appetizer. Everything else is perfect.
Great place for lunch. Nice outside patio that was shaded with umbrellas. The Thai salad was very good and there was a great selection for lunch. Would go back again.
My wife and I went there for a date night dinner and were very happy with our service and food. CASSANDRA one of the chefs came out and personally greeted us and saw to it that we had a great experience. The food was phenomenal the atmosphere was great and the service was great. We would highly recommend this place.
I took my husband here for a birthday brunch. They put a Happy Birthday card on the table which we both thought was wonderful. The food was great. And our waitress was lovely. She had recommendations on what to order. The meal was wonderful and we really appreciated it. I would love to go back to try the dinner menu.
Good dinner, but a bit below typical P&P standards. Server was inexperienced and hovered; could barely put my fork down before he scooped my plate from me. Burrata & cherries appetizer was wonderful -- great combination of rich, dark cherry flavor and buttery, creamy cheese. Bishop Ranch Salad was outstanding as always. Sesame Pork Chop was just OK -- carrot puree too sweet, broccoli too soft, and none of it seemed to go with the hoisin sauce. The chop was thick but dry. Shrimp Louis Salad had nicely grilled shrimp but was a bit overpriced for a salad.
Not very crowded (it was Cinco de Mayo) but a delicious meal as usual. Tried a spicy prawn dish that I hadn't seen on the menu before, very good as was the affogato I had for dessert (with decaf espresso).
Very good evening
Great celebration for my daughter's birthday!
My second time to P&P. Everything was terrific! Great food, excellent service.
Went with 2 friends for Sunday brunch. We ordered the pear quesadilla to share and each got our own dish. The pear quesadilla was great, not amazing, although the pear chutney was quite yummy.
I ordered the French toast. It was greasy and bland (the whipped cream too). I ate almost slice while chatting with my girls and it was alright with the berries. I couldn’t get myself to touch the other 2 because it was just so burnt. This might be my first ever sending food back. The waiter asked if I would like them to remake it and I declined. They still charged us for the French toast.
The food was alright, the service was mediocre, and overall just blah. I do not recommend this place and will not be back. I was initially really excited that a place with such good reviews would take reservation during brunch prime time, and now I know why.
A group of 4 of us went for dinner on Saturday night. We surprised my husband by turning it into a birthday dinner. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, creative just all and all wonderful. We tried the fondue for the first time and really enjoyed it. And of course we shared a few desserts that were fantastic!
Ordered the pork chop, it was badly undercooked. Restaurant offered replace it. In the interest of time, just requested a Caesar Salad. It was bland. For desert, had the Pear Tart. It tasted like day old pastry. Very disappointing.
I have been there before, but not likely to go back.
Food was amazing but kept having to ask another server to have our server come to our table. Expect slow service!
Good food served in quiet garden setting, by attentive but not intrusive waitress during our luncheon get together with friends . The berratta appetizer is especially tasty and just right for sharing. I would come back soon.
I really enjoyed my meal at this restaurant the food was extremely well prepared and presented. The staff know how to read their guests. We were deep in conversation and they did not interrupt, but knew when to remove the plates, top up our drinks and inquire as to how we were doing.
The restaurant is very well appointed, in a wonderful location and was busy and had a great vibe.
We met friends here who had never been before. They enjoyed their meal and said they would definitely return another time.
