I had high expectations of The Peacock Inn but it did not live up to the recomendations of others. I found my dinner a real mixed bag some good, in part pretentious and some bits lousy.
I had the Hamachi starter which was good and the tuna rare as I like it. I had then the Scallops which were grossly over-cooked and over seasoned. Lastly, I had the surf n turf, the key ingredients of lobster & steak were good but cast adrift a sea of gloopy pasta. How anyone could see this combination with pasta could work is beyond me. The only way that I could eat the lobster and steak was putting onto a side plate. We missed out on a dessert. The settings here are beautiful within an historic house but maybe that is what people come for.
We also stayed in the hotel and liked it and have given the hotel a seperate more favourable review.
Great ambience, service was good not great. Staff was friendly.
Have had very good meals here in the past.
Pat was very helpful.
Had the XMaS Eve tasting menu. The first course of Mushroom Risotto was cold firstly and mediocre overall.
The main course was very good, desserts were average.
The wine recommendation was very good and price value good.
At the end of the day I come to Peacock Inn for it's neighborhood charm and special occasions.
Food quality and price for the quality was average at best.
Not up to typical previous experiences either service or some of the food
Guess holiday not good time to go
Our service was excellent! We were able to talk and relax between courses and never felt rushed. Food was delicious. A great experience.
I always enjoy dining here every few weeks; the food this evening was as outstanding as I've had on all previous occasions. The strip loin of bison was quite a treat.
Outstanding brunch experience - Our server Bryan was great and very attentive!!
What a night! Celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, and I couldn't have chosen a better place. My wife arrived first and surprised me with a bottle of our favorite champagne, which was served just as we were being seated. The food was exquisite, and Mike took great care of us throughout the evening. When I think of places to dine on a special occasion, there's only one place: The Peacock Inn.
This was our third time to the peacock in and they once again did not disappoint. The food and the service were Exquisite as you would expect because pricing is not inexpensive. Well worth the money a great value for a special occasion.
We were there for brunch, which is a two course, fixed price menu. The restaurant is in a beautiful old building with spacious dining rooms and cozy seating. The interesting menu was generally well executed. The servers were courteous but not attentive to our needs until asked. We had to flag the waiter down to take our order, bring the main courses, and take drink orders when the meal finally came. The two course brunch took 3 hours. The food was attractively plated but all was room temperature, even dishes that should have been hot. The waiter seemed to be the only waiter in the restaurant. The 20% gratuity on the bill did not reflect the quality of the service. Coffee or tea should be included in the prix fixe.
Ate here while visiting our daughter. Took her and her roommate to dinner. Food was excellent. Service was very good but not intrusive.
Nice wine list.
Wonderful location and a very nice building. Food was very, very good, not great. Portion size is small. Limited but very good wine list. With a cocktail, least expensive wine bottle, appetizer and entree and gratuity the bill was $254. A little steep, but a very nice evening.
The food and service at the Peacock Inn were amazing! Best we've ever experienced!! We were celebrating my husband's birthday and they served us complimentary glasses of Proseco, the menus said Happy Birthday at the top and they wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate on his dessert plate! Definitely a great place to celebrate a special occasion!! Highly recommend!
Food & service were very good! But it is very expensive!
EPIC experience for my 70th birthday!!!!!!Food was very different and enjoyable. The presentation of the food was creative and artistic. The sparkle star lights in the ceiling made it beautiful and cozy. There was room to spare between tables.Just the most warm and inviting soft ambience.Service was impeccable.I felt welcomed, cared for and appreciated. We had fun too!!!!!The time there were not rushed and we were so relaxed and comfortable.Everyone was so nice!!!!I LOVED every minute we spent there! The best birthday EVER!!!!!!
This was a lovely place to have Thanksgiving dinner and celebrate my birthday 🍷👍
Our compliments to the chef and staff. Dining at The Peacock Inn is a fabulous experience. What a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday!
The room we sat in had an extremely noisy group and we had to change our table.
Best restaurant in Princeton!!
Always a pleasure to have a special occasion there. However if you ask Michael, I did have an altercation with a “gentleman” who had no respect for the other guests, using foul language that became very upsetting. I was headed to speak to Michael about it but the “gentleman” continued and I handled it myself. This is no fault of the restaurant but really should have been taken care of before I had to finally address him. Thanks
My husband and I first learned about Peacock Inn thanks to a gift card. We went this week to celebrate our anniversary. The inn reminded us of Cape May. We felt instantaneously at ease. The staff were attentive and courteous. Instead of the five-course tasting menu we opted for a la carte settling on a two-course meal. We started with sautéed ricotta gnocchi and sweet onion soup. They whet our appetite! For the entrees we had king salmon and surf and turf. The balance of the flavors was memorable. The flavors were new and exotic at the same time comforting and pleasing. Although at a glance the portions looked small to me, after the entree I was too full for dessert. (I had a slice and a half of bread.) I highly recommend Peacock Inn for celebrating special occasions.
Always the best.
The food and service is outstanding. The ambiance is elegant. I've never had a bad experience here!!!
First the positive- food was inventive and delicious! Dessert was not as good, which is the only reason I gave a 4 star rating.
The negatives- Reservations at 8:15, didn't get seated until 8:45. Bar service was slow! Ordered drinks while waiting for our table, 2 drink orders arrived after 15 minutes and then the other 2 arrived 10 minutes later. Table service was slow- sat down at 8:45 and waiter didn't come to take our order until 9:10! Frustrating especially since our reservation was at 8:15 and we were all hungry. Expected better service on all ends from a restaurant of this caliber.
Overall enjoyable experience!
A special thanks to our amazing waiter Nevin. He was knowledgeable about the food, wine and spirits. Nevin and the other professional dining room staff elevated the experience with their perfect service and charming personalities. We especially enjoyed the Beet Salad & Hamachi appetizers.
The bartender was great...so knowledgeable and professional. He maintained a relaxed presence while managing the small but very busy bar. We really enjoyed sitting at the bar after our meal.
Highly recommended!
The management and wait staff are always pleasant and welcoming whenever we come here. Menu is a bit pricy but the food is always great.
The staff treats you like royalty, and the food was succulent and delicious.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the peacock inn last night. What an amazing experience . The food was out of this world. We both tried the tasting menu with the non Wine paring which included 6 cocktails, beer or cider. The beverage director Patrick did an amazing job with all the drinks. Our servers were awesome. Overall one of the best dining experiences in New Jersey. Will definitely be going back to check out the rest of the menu.
Beautiful setting. Wedding reception in adjacent room added significant noise. Food portions were small, but beautifully presented. They try to be on par with a New York fine dining experience, charging NY prices, but we never had portions that small, unless it was a tasting menu in NY.
Excellent food, attentive service, lovely, elegant room. Cocktails were terrific too with a very sophisticated selection. We plan to return soon.
Another perfect (and very reasonably priced) fancy brunch!
outstanding
Chef complimentary mushroom soup with olive oil is must try!!!
We had a fabulous birthday dinner here. They gave the three of us a glass of champagne upon our arrival and a cute little assortment of sweets on a happy birthday plate, very generous. The food was delicious and service excellent. Due to the high prices we only visit for special occasions, but always enjoy it. We will go back!
Just Perfect for our anniversary! Every detail contributed to w wonderful evening - valet parking, the greeting, the waiter, the wine and of course the food was beyond compare. the Peacock Inn exceeded all expectations well worth the cost of a special evening. thanks
We chose the tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was an exquisite gastronomic experience. The service was excellent!
Great experience and food. Was a birthday dinner and truly felt like a celebration. Wait staff very attentive.
Peacock inn for Friday dinner before a princeton football game on Saturday. Outstanding preparation and attention to detail by the servers. Nevin was our server and he was very knowledgeable about the ingredients in every dish AND the wine selections. Top notch evening and Nevin is a gem!
This may be our favorite spots - - including some top level restaurants in Philadelphia and NYC. Princeton is a beautiful place to enjoy and the Peacock Inn is wonderful
We go every year for our anniversary. Romantic. It's pricey but we love the five course tasting menu
My husband and I had dinner at the Peacock for our Anniversary. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairings. The food was delicious, the wine pairing choices excellent and the service was very attentive. We had let them know when we made the reservations that it was our anniversary. They wished us a Happy Anniversary when we arrived, presented us with complementary prosecco after we were settled, the menu was personalized with a Happy Anniversary message, as was our desserts. I highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
