The Patio on Goldfinch
Located in the historic neighborhood of Mission Hills, The Patio on Goldfinch is a gathering place that features a living green wall, open-air dog-friendly patio, outdoor fireplace, and glass-enclosed cheese cave. Come to The Patio on Goldfinch for one of our delicious seafood entrees but stay for a great dining experience!
The service was horrible. We waited 15 mins past our reservation in a half empty restaurant and we sat for almost 30 mins without a server coming to greet us and just over 1 hour past seating to receive our food. The food was good when we got it but I would not go back.
Our favorite restaurant. Our go to date place.
Our server was the best. The place is very nice it has a patio style just as the name says. Even tough that night was very cold, inside the patio was a great tempature. The food was excellent. The chef cheese board, does come with a very limited amount of pieces of cheese. The octopus is to die for.
They we out of the tuna tacos. Which was weird because it was early on a Friday.
Very nice place.
Great food, pretty environment, can't wait to go back!
New menu is delicious! Paella was awesome & great cocktails too!
The vegetarian paella is fabulous! The ambiance is beautiful and good for a date night.
Food came out of order, didn't have ingredients for my Irish coffee but "made" it anyway and didn't say anything until I said something.
Birthday lunch with my daughter. I’ve eaten here many times before. Always a great go to with such a variety of food on the menu. My daughter had to chopped Salad with steak. We also had fried Green tomatoes as an appetizer and they were cooked to perfection. I had the Ruben flat bread which was so unusual but excellent in every way.
Great atmosphere and cocktails. Good food but slow service, not my first experience like this. Great for happy hour.
The food was sub par which is not usual for this place-did something happen with the chef and that’s why they were closed for a month? My octopus was tough and chewy, the meat on my mom’s beef and blue flatbread was tough and flavorless, my dad’s trout was average and my cousins pork shank was fatty. Thank goodness it was half off bottles of wine that night-only good thing. If I ever go again maybe I should stick with salad-cheaper and and can’t mess it up that bad! Even my birthday dessert was pathetic! A little brownie that wasn’t great either:( Very disappointing all around.
Love this place
Love the cheese board and seafood pot!!
We enjoyed a relaxed brunch in an outdoor room on a sunny Saturday morning. Lighthearted atmosphere accompanied our generous serving of various egg dishes from the menu. We enjoyed a small charcuterie for starter with Bloody Marys. In retrospect, should have had the bacon-infused Bloody Mary like my hubby — few bucks more but we’ll worth it. We’ll be back!
We were there for my birthday and it was a perfect celebration! Food was amazing!
We sat in a booth and the hard benches were a problem for us....very uncomfortable....but everything else was great, especially the service. It was extraordinary. We left a heavy tip( in our opinion).
Thx so much
Excellent food and great service! Wish they had a location in Northern California!
Family pow wow
Would just like to have some padding on that HARD bench seat. Appreciate Waiter bring Birthday Browned. Hostess with exotic hair was very helpful.
Great place and a super charming patio. Parking can be a challenge and the servers aren't always terribly attentive. I had the beet salad with salmon which was outstanding.
Great place .... exceptional service, delicious food. Wonderful staff ...
We were visiting San Diego from Boston—— Mission Hills is a lovely neighborhood with a number of interesting eating spots. Patio is casual, seems to have some regular clientele, and some unusual menu items. Fireplace on a chilly night drew us in! Chad was our server—attentive with a good sense of humor! Worth a visit‼️
One of the best brunch spots I've been to. Absolutely love the Short Rib Hash, Eggs Benedict, and the Shrimp and Grits.
Michele was great... Food was good. Noise level a little too much. We'll be back.
While service was great the chicken I had was extremely dry and inedible.
My friends pasta dish lacked flavor. My sisters burger was good.
A little cold in the winter.
I've heard a lot about this place. The decor is amazing. Unfortunately, the food was very bland.
My girlfriend and I were in San Diego for Valentine’s Day and I goofed on making reservations at the place I originally wanted to dine at, so I ended up finding this spot that had reservations available. I was so thrilled that I ended up picking one of the most amazing restaurants we’ve been to in a while! Our server was very friendly and informative on the menu and daily specials, and the bartenders really know how to throw down and make some amazing cocktails. The short rib nachos were absolutely to die for, and the burgers we ordered were very tasty as well. Very cozy atmosphere and good music to compliment. Although we are 60 miles north of this spot, my girlfriend and I will definitely be back another time.
The ambiance is very nice, the food is quite good, I have had the Nutella French toast multiple times and it’s probably my favorite thing, I highly recommend it. On the day I went service was extremely slow and I don’t even recall getting any type of good gesture or even an apology. The staff was not very attentive to our needs, simple things like cutlery we didn’t have at some points, and we hardly saw our server. For much better service and I think slightly better food go to the PB location, however I’m not a fan of dining with pets at restaurants so if you aren’t either, beware. Overall the menu at both locations seem to be really good but the service leaves a lot to be desired at the Goldfinch location.
Excellent service, atmosphere and delicious food!
Always delicious and the ambiance is simply the best!
the whole experience was great. the server was very friendly and helpful with food selection and went out of his way to make our experience great and the food was delicious.
what a gem. Loved the variety of food, the atmosphere was great. I look forward to coming back the next time I'm in town.
Food seemed like it has dropped off in quality. The menu is strange and inconsistent.
It’s way too noisy, even though the food is good, I probably won’t go back.
Service was very slow. Our waitress had a large table of 15 people or so for a birthday dinner. She sure could have used some help so that our service was timely.
Beautiful decor, cool vibe, great drinks. Unfortunately, the food was extremely mediocre (and therefore quite overpriced). My friend described her burger as tasting like "a cafeteria burger" and I thought she was being dramatic until I tried a bite myself. She was right (and that burger was $17--ouch). My pork shank was very tender, but not spiced much and very bland.
The Brussels sprouts are amazing!
We sat in the back near the kitchen. Tables were a little too close together for two people, so it was hard to have a private conversation and we could easily hear other conversations as well.
Great place to take special friends and loved ones.
