We enjoyed the pairing menu, food was excellent and there was only one wine we would have changed.
One of the best meals ever. And we have eaten at top restaurants all over the world. You should not miss this place!
We dine regularly at The Pass for special occasions and I don't think there is a better place in Houston for a special event. They killed it, as usual. The tasting menu changes regularly and is always surprising and flawlessly executed, without losing a sense of humor. Because dining out should be fun, right? One more thing...this is a great value for the level of food and service. A similar meal in Chicago or NYC would be double this price.
All main course were excellent, we think dessert could be better, it was good but I had a different expectation. Services is outstanding..definitely will dine again
This was our first time with a set course meal and was amazing. Derrick was his name and still is, give this place a try and don't have a fret because everything is amazing.
A truly exceptional experience
Great food and great experience. I’ll go back.
We sat right next to the kitchen which was a great seat to have. Very creative and unique dishes / for example, who would think of beets and chocolate for dessert??
This is not an every week dining place but certainly once a quarter when they change their menu or special occasions.
Had a great time and have shared this restaurant name with others.
Set meal and pairings were great, but thought it odd to not have bread plates and to put the crumbly rolls on the table directly. The lamb was also dry and grisly.
A sublime dining experience. Everything about The Pass is perfection. Informed and intelligent service, refined and adventurous food, and elegant room in which to dine.
The Pass was everything I hoped and more. My wife loved having her birthday dinner at The Pass and we will definitely come back soon.
One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Exquisite food and service. Loved the wine pairings.
We went to The Pass for a date night. Making reservations online was easy and our table was ready when we arrived. The waiter was knowledgeable about items on the menu and made good suggestions. We did the caviar/pancakes add-on as recommended by the waiter and would recommend it to others that are willing to splurge. We like that the kitchen is in view and that it's not too crowded. Overall a great meal!
We had eaten at Provisions many times but this was our first time at the Pass. We really liked the secret feeling entrance. Service was very attentive yet casual - great combo. The meal was prepared perfectly. It is only set menu. With or without meat. We order the non-vegetarian. Each course was so refined. I ordered the mixed drinks pairing and loved it. The drinks were fun and adventurous. Although they said the wine pairs better, I wanted to give it a go and I didn’t regret it. There are add-ons that looked great but we were scared to be too full. In the end, the regular meal was perfect for us. We will totally eat here again. Too expensive to go too often though. Good for a special occasion with a foodie.
Every dish was fresh, creative and delicious. The exceptional service made it a perfect dinner. We can’t wait to return!
Sleek and sexy. Love the white and black contrast and the open structure to the kitchen. We enjoyed the vegetarian menu and each dish was thoughtful and exciting. The service was impeccable as well. We will be back.
A very memorable meal in every regard! Food and drink were spectacular as were the impeccable service with attention to detail.... we traveled from New Orleans for this evening and the Pass did not disappoint!
What a wonderful evening with a terrific menu. After reading a few of the negative comments about The Pass that people wrote I am at a loss if they went to the same place! Each course was great. The presentation and the wine pairings of each were perfect and the price is very reasonable. I have been to price fix menu places with a wine pairing that were 30 -40 dollars more. And watching the kitchen staff do their thing is very special. The head chef even served one of the dishes to all in the place. It is A one and our server, Derek was the best. He didn't rush us at all when we wanted to sip on a martini first.
There wasn’t one menu item that we were blown away by, though the food was pretty. A few of the people working were stiff and unjustly proud. We spent a lot of money and an anniversary celebration on an experience that we can only describe as “meh”.
Amazing dining experience! Excellent, creative, and flavorful food you are meant to enjoy and take your time eating. We did the cocktail and wine pairing since we were celebrating a special occasion. It is a longer dining experience, so do not come expecting to be in and out quickly. We dined for almost 3 hours and every minute of it was wonderful!
I had an amazing diner at The Pass. You access the gastronomic restaurant by pushing a hidden door in a tapas bar from the lobby. It's like a hidden gem. Outstanding service, meals, tastes and wine list. Worth a michelin star.
One of the best meals of my life! Amazing service and wine pairing
This was our second visit. Our first was above average in every way! We were looking forward to our second visit. We left disappointed. We has 6 courses. I had the cocktail pairing and my wife had the wine.
The dishes were lackluster in flavor and we found that the temperatures of the dishes off. Service was fine but could not make up for a very expensive meal that we did not enjoy. We were told that concepts had changed since our previous visit in May 2017. We much preferred the latter.
The Pass had some of the best food I have ever eaten. If it were in a Michelin city, it would definitely have a few stars for the service and for the food. The tasting menu is superb and the drink pairing (we got the cocktail/drinks one instead of the wine one) was outstanding and a must try with the food pairing. All the food and the drinks were highly detailed and unique and truly incredible. I can not recommend the Pass highly enough. Also, it’s quite affordable for such an intimate, high quality dining experience. There is no particular dress code but most patrons were dressed up a bit.
What an incredible meal!!! Nothing better than being told what the ingredients in a dish are and still having no ability to comprehend what flavors will be evident with the first bite. Such a great mix of ingredients/flavors/textures/colors- kept us delightfully fooled for the whole meal.
Awesome as usual! From the ‘WOW’ factor when entering the dining room, the impeccable service from a talented and knowledgeable staff, each wonderful course and brilliant wine and cocktail pairings, right through to chatting with the Head Chef at the end of the evening - a fantastic and memorable evening.
First time back since they changed the pricing and menu. Everything was great and will return more often.
Early Valentines Day dinner
Coolest experience that my wife and I have ever had!
The vegetarian menu was very good. Their use of simple ingredients really helped to keep the dishes light and not too heavy. My favorite was the tempura romanesco with edible flowers, curried raisins and pickled barley. I was surprised at the chew of the barley. It gave the dish a little more weight and made the course more filling. Their play with textures was good with each dish too, varying from chewy, crunchy and smooth. I'm not a massive fan of dairy because of its heaviness, but the dishes did not use an excessive amount of cheese or diary products - just enough to provide a tangy and sharp taste.
It was a nice quiet setting - perfect for a date.
The waiters were all very knowledgable and the service was very good.
This place is just perfect! The food was elegant. Derek and Nick were superb in service and the dishes didn’t disappoint
Wine paired nicely with food, each course was unique and delicious, service attentive and well informed, romantic date atmosphere, loved the music
The secret door to the dining room is neat. The atmosphere is fine, but quite loud as the tables are close to each other. I guess they try to fit as many tables as possible in the room. If you sit next to the kitchen, you would be able to be see how they prepare the food. The value for the food is average. It’s like you get what you pay for. The food is mostly earth tone in colors, not very appealing. On one dish, they cover 90% of ingredients with a huge black blob which turns out to be quite salty. Overall taste for the dishes is bland. Wine paring is above average. I would come back here just for wines.
Our experience at The Pass was nothing short of amazing. The food was outstanding, and the service was impeccable. We did the wine and cocktail pairings along with our tastings, and it was such a fun and enjoyable dinner. Also, the ambience was perfect - not too quiet, not too pretentious, just perfect. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone looking for an upscale dining experience!
We enjoyed every course! My partner ordered a glass of wine off the menu and I took the pairings--this gave us a chance to share a bit without having too much. The wines paired beautifully and were very different from each other. After, with a little browsing, I found that several were quite difficult or impossible to buy even online, without ordering internationally. So a great chance to try new tastes. Service was courteous, very well-informed, patient with questions, efficient but unhurried. Great team effort.
Our experience was wonderful as always, with beautiful ambiance, excellent service, and amazing , creative servings that were far more surprising and tasty than the menu could describe!
We had a wonderful time! The food was excellent, the drink pairings were spot-on, and the service was impeccable. Definitely a treat to be savored.
We have been before and had an excellent experience, so our expectations were high. This time we invited extended family, and ended up being embarrassed in front of them by our service. We asked a question about the possibility of changing some of the menu items for our daughters who decided to join us last minute. We were simply curious if it was a possibility, and would have been fine if he just said it wasn’t possible. But, the manager responded very rudely. He approached our table and said: “it appears you are confused by our service here... we can put you in our other restaurant if this menu doesn’t suit you”. It was said in an aggressive manner and my sister-in-law almost reprimanded him on the spot, but we convinced her not to due to the fact that we were trying to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. It really cast a shadow on the entire evening, and on our memory of our first experience there... which had been wonderful. I won’t be able to recommend The Pass anymore.
Fabulous food and service. The whole experience was orchestrated to fully respect and appreciation the art of dinning. The use of amazing ingredients masterfully developed to create unique flavors and wonderful dishes.
