Located on the site of one of the earliest houses in Gettysburg, The Parrot continues a tradition of hospitality, which began in 1850 with the Mrs. Schwartz's Oyster Parlor. During the Battle of Gettysburg, the residence may have been used as a field hospital at the time. Mr. Minnigh opened a confectionary store here in 1868.
In 1920, the then-remodeled candy shop opened as the Blue Parrot Tea Room. Situated on the famous transcontinental Lincoln Highway (US Route 30), The Blue Parrot Tea Room quickly developed a national reputation. The Blue Parrot Tea Room continued to operate as the Adam's House Tavern.
Known fondly by Gettysburg locals as: The Parrot, continued as a local staple.
Now, in 2017, the torch has been passed again. New owners Gus Zucco and Hilary Styer-Zucco continue the tradition of a casual atmosphere with a fine, classic twist. Whether you are here to enjoy a fine dinner or sit back and enjoy a brew from the tap, you are always welcome here at The

    We had a very bad experience at this store. The best thing I can say is that our server was pleasant. The problems were beyond her control. When our party of 4 arrived there were only 3-4 tables of customers in a rather large space. We ordered 3 drinks from the bar, one soft drink & 2 apps. Drinks were slow to come & when they did one was missing. The server indicated it was being made. 10 min later, no drink. Dinner was ordered. After a long wait our salad arrived but no apps. The apps, which were mozzarella sticks & french fries arrived 15 minutes later and were not hot or tasty. After another lengthy wait our dinners were served. All were cold and had to be sent back. Finally the manager came to apologize with the excuse that someone in the kitchen had called out. When the dinners were re-served one was still unacceptable. The manager offered another meal & removed the first from the bill, however it was too late for that person to order again. There was little confidence that a meal would be provided in a timely fashion. The evening was a huge disappointment.

    Arrive Sunday 8/21/18 @ 6:45, on time, 7:45 food not arrived-had to ask status. Food arrived 10 min later, my Parrot Burger was over cooked, cool, fries were barely warm. Had a house salad, no tomatoes-queried-out. Since shut down Mons, kitchen not like to keep items over. No ranch dressing, out of homemade chips. Did voluntary comp 15%, but service and food were very poor quality. A Manager never came to table-tasked waitress to offer the excuses and apology. Never go back. New owner’s menu, staff, food quality very poor! Was formerly a great place as Blue Parrot-not now, sadly!

    Fairly unhappy that they eliminated the Brunch menu and didn’t bother to take it off their website or Open Table. Their lunch menu is OK, but the old brunch menu was great.

    Horrible experience from beginning to end. Went for brunch but the brunch menu was discontinued on that day other than a few items which were explained. We both order chicken & waffles, side of potatoes and hummus plate for appetizer. About 45 minutes later ALL our food comes to table at same time. Chicken was a chicken finger, not a breast, as described & it was fried without breading. Waffles were freezer burnt & sausage gravy on side had already developed a skin on top of it. Nothing was even lukewarm. It was as if our food had sat out for a long period of time before it was served. All the while from the time we sat down the waitress was horrible. Didn't bring us silverware, didn't refill our drinks, didnt ask if the food was acceptable, didn't even bring the ketchup that my dining companion asked for twice! The owner came out with a sob story saying he's having a hard time finding good staff & cook. He offered us a free drink & a future dinner on him. I would never go back for anything, not even if it was free.

    Reviews had been mixed but location was right so I tried. I agree with the mixed reviews. We were the first two customers in for dinner on a Saturday night. The waitress forgot my wine order and had to ask me again. She also didn’t know how the specials were prepared and did not offer one ( I heard it offered to a neighboring table while we were eating). Some of the wait staff were fussing with their hair or focused on their phones. While it wasn’t busy, these aren’t behaviors that I want to see in the bar/prep area. Appetizers salads were good and my husband enjoyed his Ruben, but they forgot the sauce on the side he requested. I got the fish special which was over cooked.

    This was my 2nd time and once again the food was very good but the service was spotty. This time the restaurant was short staffed so the bar tender had to serve our table and direct runners. He was very good but over extended. I had the pasta of the day (spaghetti and meatballs) and my wife had the salmon. Both meals are excellent. I would recommend the place for the food but they need to stop up the service.

    Wait staff new and had significant delays. In addition, twice we had other wait staff attempt to serve us food we did not order. We had to ask for refills on water, tea, and wine. Overall not great.

    Our dinner was the best meal we had during our stay at Gettysburg. The food and service couldn’t have been better and they offer a nice wine list.
