I love this restaurant. The food is very good and is quite reasonably priced. The other outstanding feature is that this is a quiet place and that is rare.
Our first dining experience was the first of many more to come.
A splendid culinary experience in an environment reminiscent of the comfort of old world understated elegance.
Love the Bistro, great food and ambiance! Most of the staff is very friendly.
However, the last two times I was there for lunch the service has been extremely slow.
Not sure if it is the wait staff or the the kitchen. The two ladies that were there are pleasant, but
not loving their job and it shows. The manager had to help. Not the best experience I've had there.
We ordered the potato leek soup and it tasted like a bowl of starch. Short ribs were ok nothing special. Service was good. Noise level was good.
Food was tasty, good flavors. Service was painfully slow. Second slowest service imy 50+ years of dining out. Wife's cod was tasty and remarkably small, apetizer size for entree price.
What a nice find. Food was excellent and service was great. Terrific happy hour and free valet parking.
Lunch at the Lafayette Park Bistro is a great, quiet luncheon place. If you're local,
it's an easy trip w/no problem parking, either street w/no meters or parking at the
hotel or Valet. All types of food from salads to sandwiches to entrees. Try being seated
in the restaurant at a booth; very quiet & comfortable. We had a 3 1/2 hour lunch with
friends and no one bothered us. The quiche is always tasty, individual rounds. The farro
salad & salmon was tasty & there is always soup & sandwich of the day. The best part of the
meal was the yuzu-lemon tart. Enjoy!
I had no expectations before arriving for our meal. We had eaten here before and had a great meal. We dined here again on a Sunday night. It was quiet, no one in the restaurant for our first 45 minutes. At last a meal where my husband and I could have a conversation! I ordered the short rib, hands down the best I have ever had! My husband ordered the chicken, equally delicious. We split a wonderful beet salad and enjoyed the warm olives. The wine list was elegant. I had a Failla Pinot Noir that was delicious. My husband enjoyed the Pliny The Elder beer. We thought it unusual to see this beer on the menu. The meal was complimented by our wonderful waiter Nicholas. His service was impeccable, certainly on par with any high end restaurant. It was one of the best meals we have had all year!
Our last lunch visit with friends was made so special---The reservationist was very welcoming and pleasant, waitress--outstanding, and the food, as alway, delicious. We never feel rushed here and that is so appreciated. Thank you!
Explorer - This is probably the third time I've been here with a friend around the lunch hour. Each time the food has been quite good. This time I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. I had asked for an addition of avocado but that was forgotten. My friend ordered a quiche which she said was very good. A large salad came along with it. We were both overall happy with our food. However, the service was on the slow side this time.
Would be nice if the tables were set a bit more formally, with tablecloths, etc.
R waitress page is the best she always gives the best customer service
Off night perhaps? Usually reliably good service & food. Not so for 6 friends this time. Very slow service. No water refills. Those of us who ordered the Mary’s chicken were satisfied. The stuffed cannelloni was an unusual side dish. Black cod entree was over cooked & mushy. All of this on a weekday night when the restaurant was less than half full. We’ll go back though as this was very unusual.
The venue is beautiful and the menu compelling. But they didn’t have enough staff. The staff recommended the burger, but it was far from what my imagination said it would be. The fries were not really crisp.
Aside from annoying problem getting seated with our reservation, the ambiance and service were good. The food was creative and delicious California cuisine. Would definitely like to return for dinner. There were three different people handling reservations, so that even though we arrived 10 minutes early, we were passed over by people coming in later, even some without reservations. Quite annoying, and I was prepared to hate the restaurant, but the service, food, and ambiance overcame my initial impression.
This event celebrated the visit of friends from my hometown. The hotel staff went out of their way to make everything from the chilled champagne, the contact with a local florist to arrange a beautiful centerpiece and the delicious entree very special. Our server was a delight. All in all five stars for the Lafayette Park Hotel Restaurant. Joan Stevenson
Not our first visit here. Several lunches but this was first dinner. Al carte menu was a bit pricey
but easily worth it.
Dining at the Park Bistro is always a delightful experience. The service is attentive and helpful without hovering. The menu offers a nice variety of selection from small dishes to full plates. There is a wide range of wine and cocktail selections. Not to be missed are the choices for dessert.
This could be a nice place to go if the food was worth the price. There were 7 of us and none of us thought our main course choices were more than mediocre. Even the bread, the Caesar salad, and the French onion soup were of lower quality than one would expect at a place this nice. Perhaps we had an off day for the chef. The ambience and service were very good.
Food not as good as previous visits. Mussels in broth was tasteless. Short ribs not as yummy as previous.
The service was sketchy. Bought a bottle of wine for the table that was listed as $34 we were billed for $42. When questioned the waitress said it was a misprint? And she would have to ask her supervisor before standing by advertised price. She argued they based the price on the glass price which was $11 and multiplied by 4 was $44 and the discount was $2 for the bottle. The bill was almost $300 so to argue over $8 was really bad form in our opinion. There were five adults an two children in our party so the tip was predetermined so the waitress had no reason to give great service and she did not.
Excellent sandwich menu.dining room rather caverness and bland. Wish we had been told we could eat in the pub.
Tomato soup, crab cakes (very light and not oily), along with the Quinoa burger with extra avocado make for a superior eat. Top it off with the butterscotch pudding and it is off the charts. Very happy with the food here. Forgot to mention the county line salad. Be sure to ask for extra fruit.
Have gone to the Bistro at the Park many time. The last two times lunch coming from the
kitchen has been extremely slow.
As usual, the food was excellent. However, we were celebrating a belated 43 anniversary, belated because of medical issues. I noted in in my Open Table reservation and told the hostess and server that we were celebrating our anniversary. Everyone seemed shocked that we were celebrating our anniversary, like no one had bothered to look at the reservation or acknowledge our anniversary. No mention of it by anyone, no extra service, just business as usual. Very disappointing, especially when we had celebrated it here before and they did an excellent job and made it a special night for us.
Additionally, the hostess tried to seat in the back corner with a long string of tables. We had to request a separate table near the entrance, when the restaurant clearly wasn't filled.
Overall, pretty disappointed.
The calamari is the best in the Bay Area- done just right with a great sauce and a huge serving. Fish and chips with tilapia coated with panko crumbs was excellent. Quiet area made for conversation. Large bar area if you want a more lively scene. Pliny the Elder Double IPA on tap was a pleasant surprise.
The Valet Parking is an excellent convenience. In fact, I strongly recommend valet parking as the self-parking area is too limited and the spaces are unrealistically small. The service at all levels and areas are good to excellent. The weekend brunch is an excellent value...I do it at least once a month.
I was impressed with everything from the service to the food quality. Quinoa burger and tomato soup were excellent for lunch.
Birthday evening for my granddaughter and man friend. Met two other friends who I first met at Bistro. Very fun evening for all.
Had a great business meal. Food and service were excellent!
We are in the dining room for a birthday celebration. The food was healthy and inventive, we both had steak dinners with a few sides and Caesar salads - perfect. Great valet parking, and easy access to restaurant - very well done.
I often bring someone to breakfast here. Please, when I bring a male...don't ask me if I have a room. My 92 yr old gentleman friend got very excited and I was embarrassed. We all live in hope, even those of us from Rossmoor.
Went there on a date for an early dinner. We had a quiet, private booth in the main dining room. The food was excellent, as was the service. It couldn't have been more perfect. But watch out. If we had not gotten the booth, the other tables for two are lined up close to one another so you would not have the space or the privacy that we had.
Fabulous servers and a great menu - plenty of classics but also some nice twists to keep things interesting. We probably eat here at least once a month and always enjoy ourselves!
A wonderful place to visit with friends. We had a excellent server who had just started work there and he was able to answer all our questions like a pro.
Food was mediocre, service was the slowest. Not sure I would recommend the Bistro and Bar, maybe it was an off day for them but was not good for us!
The dressing on the iceberg wedge crab and mostly salmon salad was very spicy, no peppers or chiles were listed on the description. The other ingredients overwhelmed the crab.
I mostly ate bread. We used to enjoy the Duck Club's menu and miss it.
We were the first diners to check in (early) for our 11:30 reservation and waited to be seated. Apparently the woman we spoke with didn't pass any information on to the gentleman who later was seating people with and without reservations while we were ignored. When I spoke up to say we had checked in before everyone else and had a reservation he said that he just gotten there. Poor management
Nice relaxing Sunday night dinner with my wife and teenage daughter after a long day of chores.
Service was great and food was wonderful and delicious.
We will definitely be going back for another meal in the future.
I go here once a week & this is first time I have had bad service. Returning Thursday
I really object to a $2.00 upcharge to substitute salad for fries.
