We've been to this location numerous times, even before it was The Palms. The location and ambiance is beautiful, and the food is incredible. We would definitely recommend eating here, and please choose outdoor dining.
This place had an amazing ambiance but mediocre at best service. My party had to track down our waitress to take our order, ask questions, and get drinks...not timely or considerate at all. The food was very good, however portions are on the smaller side; I’d recommend getting drinks or an appetizer along with your meal.
I told the restaurant when booking our reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, but nothing was brought out at the end of the meal; not every restaurant caters to special occasions however we were asked before being seated if it was someone’s birthday. Disappointed there was no follow up.
Overall, this place is a fantastic little restaurant if you want to enjoy downtown Los Gatos with music and a nice ambiance. However, don’t rely on the service. Know what your planning on ordering so you aren’t waiting an unnecessary amount of time and remind your server if you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion
The food was under seasoned, overcooked and way overpriced
Lovely meal inside. Great service. Loved the Korean Ribs appetizer, guacamole, coconut prawns. The wedge salad was yummy! Great entrees all around the table.
We had a wonderful evening with friends! Live music was excellent and the service was fabulous. We will definitely be back!
Everything was great, could have used a second heater outside around our table but outside of that perfect dinner.
The menu options, wine selection, and our entrees were excellent. The only issue was that our service was a bit weak as our server did not seem well trained. A combination of small items were off, such as receiving our drinks (which we ordered first) before our appetizers came, no utensils came before the appetizers, and wine serving ettiquette was lacking.
We used to really like this place, however, this time we were extremely disappointed. The wait staff that we had acted like they hated their job. Either they were extremely undertrained or just didn’t care. The food runners were excellent. We ordered the guacamole appetizer which wasn’t bad but had HUGE pieces of avocado which we had to mash ourselves. Not a big deal but my husband had the Philly Steak sandwich which was so grisly that he couldn’t eat most of it. It also had no flavor. Big waste of money and we wouldn’t recommend this place and most likely won’t return. For a classy place like this, they should have better wait staff. I hate having to give this bad review but hopefully the owner will make changes to improve.
The location has a lot of potential, but the current experience is unimaginative and lackluster. The server only engaged with us when she dropped the bill off on a table full of dirty plates, the burger was dry and scallops were over cooked on the outside, undercooked on the inside, no one came by our table or ensured we were having a good experience and the nonstop 50’s playlist was not the right vibe for anyone under 80. Glad I tried it, now I know that I’m not missing out on anything.
The food was awful. I would never go again and I would never recommend. The chilean sea bass with udon noodles was swimming in a sea of salty sauce and the poke similarly had too much sauce. Neither of us finished our meals because they were so bad. Add on the hefty prices and this place is a waste of money.
The Korean rib appetizer is amazing. I always love their salmon poke bowl and the hula pie is a wonderful way to finish the evening with a friend.
We ate outside which was very nice. The food was good although we had to wait a bit fir our food.
Service was horrible! Was not crowded, service took forever! Food was just OK! Over priced for the value and portions! Will not return!
My wife and I reserved a table to celebrate our wedding anniversary. There was no recognition of that event and the table service was lacking. The server seemed to be too busy to spend more than 10 seconds at a time at our table. The bartender was excellent and provided the best service of our evening.
We had family visiting from out of town and decided on The Palms for first time dining. I made a reservation on Open Table (so easy)for indoor seating but when we got there they only had outdoor but within a few minutes they had indoor seating and moved us inside. I have to use a cane so the stairs were a bit of pain but I did it and it was worth it. Love the prawns!
Food was ok. Nice outdoor seating with heaters. Family friendly. Drinks were good. Appetizers were better than the entrees. Next time I would order just apps and share.
Getting together wiht my besties
Great service food not good at all. Poke was fishy tasting, salmon was awful. Seabass was the inly good dish thanks to the waitress recommendation! Seriously the waitress was the only good thing about this place.
Food slightly cold as others reviewers said, which was odd as it took a while. Part of the food seemed microwaved as it was uneven hot and cold (mashed potatoes) so that was unusual for a restaurant.
The wait staff was not very attentive at all. We waited forever for our drinks. The waitress only came over to take our order when my partner made eye contact with her. She was more interested in petting other peoples dogs than providing us proper service. Is that acceptable to pet animals when you are delivering food? Plus, after our plates were clear it took 12 minutes for her to return to see if we wanted dessert or the check. We have never had such bad service at the Palms. We love this restaurant. Normally the staff and food are wonderful. This experience makes me question if we should return.
Really great food and a wide variety of food options, servers seemed a little understaffed but they were great when speaking with them. I’d recommend you give it a try, definitely sit outside though
Consistent LG outdoor dining experience. Service is always friendly.
UNDERWHELMED!! The food was just ordinary and over priced. I can get a better value at Cheesecake Factory. The servers are young, not too experienced people. They seemed annoyed if you’d ask for something. Not recommending them and I don’t plan to go back.
Business dinner with colleagues so perfect venue for wholesome food
The service attentive but not too close
Great dinner said by all
Food was terrible. Service was mediocre
Seems like they are struggling post COVID
Eaten there several times with great satisfaction.
Our waiter was not wearing a mask and seemed intoxicated
Food was great, service was Sloooow. The music outside was too loud.
Music way to loud
Service not great. We had to ask to fix wobbly table
No one came to pour our wine or check if we needed something after entree served. It was nice they subtracted corkage fee though
Considering they are relatively expensive I think they should have tablecloths
Great food, noisy and great live music. Had a special birthday
Food was great, service not so much. Barely ever saw our waitresses, yes plural. We had more than one. Was so hard to track someone down for drinks, to order, etc. Water was also spilled on me when a waiter was refilling a water glass on my table. Food was great though.
I've LOVED The Palms in the past—so far I've dined there four times. The first three times have been excellent. This past Sunday, I went for my birthday with my partner and it was by far the worst experience. They shouldn't even ask you for extra information (date, birthday, anniversary, etc.) in the OpenTable reservation if the restaurant will completely disregard it anyway.
We spent two hours there and half of the time was spent, finished with food, waiting for the server (Joe) to show up again. Several times I actively tried to get his attention (both gestures and verbally), and I was completely ignored. We waited between 10-15 minutes between EVERY step (being given menus, finishing eating, waiting to order a next course, etc.).
I had told Joe that I wanted dessert later when we had initially ordered our entrees. After bringing us our entrees and appetizers, we waited 10+ minutes for him to show up again so we could order dessert, only to have him appear and immediately hand us the check. We politely informed him that we were planning on ordering dessert, in which he responded, "What would you like?" without giving us dessert menus. We said we didn't know yet and would like to see a menu. He goes to get us menus, but then leaves and doesn't show up for another 10+ minutes, even though the menu is incredibly short and we had made up our minds in seconds.
I feel so conflicted because I love this place so much, but I never expected to be treated so badly on a special occasion. It's made me lose my taste for this place entirely.
Outdoor setting was very pleasant with tables in front of the grand old house under strings of lights and patio umbrellas. Regrettably, food was poor. My husband’s lobster bisque contained many small bits of shell. His mahi-mahi was grey and had a thick floury coating that came off in a slab. My sea bass was better, but pricey for the portion size. If I ever go back, I would get a drink, enjoy the setting, and skip the food.
My experience at Palms has been excellent and will continue to go to this restaurant.
My mom even suggested this for Mother’s Day this year where we had a fantastic time.
My friends and I have enjoyed Thursday nights with the live music now for quite some time.
I would recommend Palms restaurant to anyone… The food is excellent!!!
Love the mahi-mahi and wasabi mashed potatoes… The scallop dinner… The Chilean sea bass as well as the steaks.
Lovely outdoor setting and usually enjoy the dinner, but tonight was off. The entrees weren’t up to par; fish under cooked, salad served with meal instead of before, tacos were not great, & the Koran bbq kali ribs were swimming in sauce making the rice soggy. In addition, our server never checked back & when we finally flagged her to ask for a couple things, they arrived after we were done.
Food was average with pretty small portions. Beer selection was not that good. Best part was the ambience, on a warm evening and being able to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Might come back for an appetizer and cocktail, but for dinner.
