Service is pressed during pre theatre
But value is great and a solid business dinner choice
As always service and food was excellent.
We split the lobster special with a salad each half & half potatos and yummie creamed spinage. A nice cocktail, a good bottle of wine, after seeing Harvey with Jim Parson
made the dinner even better. Great doughnuts, and carrot cake. The service wes as good as it gets.
a little touristy, not like the old days. but fine for pre-theater.
The best kept lunch for per theater. We had salads with sesame tuna and steak for a fair price, great ambiance and fabulous service.
I have eaten at two other Palm Restaurants in southern California and had excellent experiences. The food is always delicious. I ordered the veal piccata and it was very bland, no tang of lemon and it didn't even have capers in it. It was veal floating in melted butter! I asked the waiter about it and he said that he is aware that piccata recipes normally have capers, but their chef doesn't prepare it that way. I asked for capers on the side and got them, added my own lemon and salt and pepper. Really? I went out so I wouldn't have to cook!
As usual I enjoyed lunch immensely but the Brulee was not up to your usual standards. It was very grainey and not custard like. I could not finish it (that was a first for me)
Food is great and served family style. The staff is courteous and friendly. Always a great dining experience.
Had a great night at The Palm. Amazing food , great wine, and great people. Try the surf n turf you will not be disappointed
We go to this restaurant on a regular basis. The food is great and the service is special. Love it when the staff sings Happy Birthday in harmony.
Great filets and lobster tail, fantastic cheesecake, but sides were uncharacteristically disappointing (to a one: Brussels sprouts, goat cheese mashed potatoes, mushrooms were all weak).
Expensive despite an appealing promotional deal -- but also a nice pour on the drinks, and more than one affordable wine options. I am a Palm club member but for these prices, you really want unqualified excellence across the board -- they didn't quite hit that mark this time.
Ribeye and Filet were excellent. Clams Casino was a little blah. We seemed to wait a little long between courses, but was not too bad. Servers were friendly. We had a problem with one Filet being over charred, manager immediately resolved. We brought our kids (6 and 8), not a great menu for young ones.
The lobster special is one of the best deals in NYC...service was terrific...one of the best
I have always loved the Palm , usually eating at the second avenue original location. This location is charming and perhaps more creature comfortable. The steaks are divine.
Food and service are consistently outstanding.
Wonderful food, efficient service and we love the specials!!
This was my second time at this restaurant for after theater dinner. Friendly, efficient service and good food. My porterhouse steak was perfectly cooked as were the asparagus. Portion size was much too generous. I'll eat for a week on what I took home!
Having just flown in from London, we were looking for the classic NY vibe Italian steak house. The Palm delivers. Great menu, superb food, impressive wine list. Stuck in a corner booth we were slightly confused by permanently rotating 5 different waiters all asking the same questions.
The place is on 50th St. between 8th Avenue and Broadway. Dark frontage. Loud and cold inside, but service is always excellent. Lunch specials are good, but the price doubles for dinner. The Businessman's special lunch is always a good bargain for $24.00. The 3-lb. lobster was excellent from Nova Scotia recently-tender and not chewy.
We dine at the PALM whenever possible and have never been disappointed.
Good experience. We will return on our next trip to NYC.
A NY institution and consistently great after all these years!
decent restaurant, but very overpriced; menue is not impressive.Good service, though.
I do not think I will want to go there again.
Always lives up to expectation of a great steakhouse. Perfect meat, incomparable creamed spinach, perfectly crispy half and half.
Signature 16 oz sirloin was over cooked. Other 3 meals were delicious. Cream spinach better than Lugars or Boston Market!
I've always wanted to eat at PALM but could never get a reservation at the time we needed for theater nights. This a great place to go before the theater. The food was outstanding. My friends had the VEAL Martini and I had the Crab cakes. We had family servings of brussel sprouts and cheese potatoes which was a great for the whole table. Great service.
They also have Domaine De Canton Ginger Liqueur! We ask them to make Ginger Martini's, which is
not on their menu. It was so wonderful, they should add it to their cocktail list! We had a great evening at PALM. I would suggest that you make your reservations at least 2 weeks in advance of your theater night.
This visit was disappointing. The lunch steak special was mediocre. The 3 lb lobster was chewy and while edible, nothing more. The lettuce in the caesar salad was wilted. The raisin bread was as usual delicious.
Excellent food, friendly and professional staff
Great food - reasonable prix fixe lunch. I highly recommend it.
It took 45 minutes to receive our order (2 burgers w/ fries). Medium-well burger was overcooked. Waiter was very unattentive. Very disappointed from The Palm.
THE STAFF ALWAYS MAKES YOU FEEL WELCOME..........................
My table was ready on time based on my Open Table reservation. The service was excellent; they treated me as if I was a regular guest using my first name. The bar was jovial and dining room quiet enough to talk. Food was very good.
As always the Palm does not fail to live up to it's reputation, i've been dinning at the Palm since 1987 the 2 on 2nd Avenue, and have never ever been disappointed. The Palm is always consistent and fabulous............never an off meal and everyone we bring is always impressed.
For the price, I expected a lot more. The service was mediocre, the food was unexceptional, and the place was too noisy. I have had much better meals for less money in the same area, ie. Blue Fin.
The ambiance was more casual than expected, but still beautiful and happy. The service was spot on and they appreciated our need to get to the theater. Highly recommended.
When we travel to New York City, we always have dinner at this particular Palm. It is centrally located and easy to find. The service was very good and the steaks were grilled to perfection. This time we tried the whipped potatoes with goat cheese and found them to be very delicious. They went well with our steaks also. Will return the next time we visit this wonderful city.
Food is very good. Portions are quite big (don't faint from the posted calorie content on the menu). The restaurant is LOUD. Staff don't talk in moderate voices. Our table was near the kitchen & near a private dining room and the traffic in and out was constant like Grand Central. Small tables of mostly 2-4 sit on the perimeter of the main room, tables of 5+ or more are centered in the middle of the room close together so if you don't mind someone banging their wooden chair into yours or hearing the conversations shouted across from the large tables adjacent to yours, just project your voices too. There are many mediocre restaurants in the theater district, but steak & seafood here were A+. Tacky caricatures are pasted on the wall.
Thoroughly enjoyed this great steak house! Waiters and management were extremely accommodating, providing just the right amount of attention to our table. A special request was met extremely willingly and we really appreciated the waiter's care and obvious interest in our being well taken care of. As former New Yorkers spending the evening with our friends from Phoenix, we could not have picked a better place for our steak loving friends. Thank you!
We have been going to The Palm for years and always loved it! This past visit was very disappointing, where service was concerned. Our waiter wasn't around, took very long to get drinks ordered, never asked if we wanted a second round, all in all, not our best visit. The food was amazing as usual!!
The Palm is a"sure thing" for wonderful food, great service, and entertaining. The bar is lively, and the drinks are excellent. Although it is pricey, you get excellent value. I do not eat meat, but I always have great choices at the Palm. The fish is fresh and delicious, and the lobster (three pounders!!) are the best in town.
