Need to book at 7:00 PM?Other great restaurants with availability.
We have dined here many times and all is usually excellent . The service and attentiveness by the female waiter was not up to par. We waited too long for our drinks to arrive . Very surprised as the restaurant was empty
The male waiter was excellent
This is not the usual attentiveness .
Everything once we got to our table was fabulous. It started off a little rocky because the bar service is horrible.
Amazing food and awesome service !
It was a lovely dinner with an iconic atmosphere, the Cobb salad was delicious and the bacon appetizer was superb! The steak (Porterhouse) was lackluster and dry. It also had a bitter taste from the char. I loved the creamed spinach but I'd pass up the barely seasoned au gratin potatoes. We skipped dessert and we will try another steakhouse next time.
Over priced, subpar service, and dirty
Extremely convenient location to the theater district. We were seated at a table by the kitchen and were accommodated in our request to relocate. The one dish my daughter wanted (short ribs) was not available - we were there early 5pm. My veal martini was fairly good. Husband had a tiny piece of fish and daughters chicken Parmesan was ok. Desserts weren’t anything special. Overall, I’d pick a different restaurant next time.
Our waiter was not attentive. All of our steaks were cooked at the wrong temperature and fries were overly salty.
They did not acknowledge my daughter’s 18th birthday which I had specifically requested and finally when we called to say we had misplaced our credit card they claimed they did not have it but called several hours later after we had cancelled it to say they had it.
Service was not that great. Disappointed.
We went in valentines to celebrate my daughters sweet 16. Everything was fabulous. We had the lamb it was amazing. The 3 cheese potatoes yum yum.
My husband took me out for a special Valentine’s Day lunch and we had the lobster - steak special w two appetizers (3 very lg shrimp in a wonderful Dijon sauce-) 4 pound lobster a 12 ounce filet a side of creamed spinach and two spectacular cheesecakes. We upgraded to the two glasses of peiper heidsick for $25-(regular price $34 each-) had excellent service from Harrison and a lovely experience overall. The specials at The Palm are always outstanding.
I took my lovely wife to dine at The Palm West Side on Feb. 13 to celebrate her dad's birthday. He passed away two years ago. We were early for our 7 PM reservation, were asked if we wanted to be seated, we did. Once seated we were met by Jeff, a tremendously helpful waiter. He helped my wife with some choices and we settled in for a FABULOUS, VERY special dinner. Many thanks also to the kitchen - every morsel delectable. My wife's filet mignon was perfection, my veal parm was wonderful - portion over-sized, which called for a doggie bag. We went home very happy with several doggie bags. Many thanks for another delightful experience!
Waiter was extremely rude
A Christmas gift
Too noisy, bad service, plate served was cold, price do not justify food.
Excellent crabcakes - all crab, not bready or fried. My husband had an excellent strip steak. Fresh oysters and clams casino also very good as were the cocktails and creme brulee.
I went to The Palm West Side for lunch enjoyed a terrific meal. The mixed green salad, swordfish with mashed potatoes, and doughnut holes with chocolate were all fantastic. The service was very good and the lunch special prices were quite reasonable.
The place was great the food was delicious. It was better this time than the first time I went. We ordered the baked clams, crab cake, porterhouse for 2 potatoes and chocolate cake. Everything was amazing. The steak was very tender. We will definitely go back.
The menu is varied, the service excellent. I would definitely recommend The Palm West Side. Also, the location is very convenient for the theater crowd.
I am a frequent diner at the Palm, so much so that my picture is on the wall. This visit was a bit disappointing. The service was so-so. It was often hard to find our waiter and when food was brought out they had no idea which seat to place it at. I had the 18 ounce Strip Steak, which is typically outstanding. On this occasion it was thinner than usual, which did not allow for the typical char on the outside as it would have been overdone on the inside if they had the usual charring. When I made the reservation I mentioned that it was my wife's birthday, but no mention of it was made. All in all, not up to the usual high standards.
Food wasn't cooked well. Service was terrible and slow. Would not recommend
Great restaurant if you can afford it. The appetizers and steaks were delicious. Bread basket was disappointing. Service is impeccable. Only complaint is the prices. My date and I had 2 appetizers, 2 steaks, 2 side dishes and a relatively inexpensive bottle of wine ($84), and the check with tip was $350. While its a classic NYC steakhouse, its hard to justify the cost for a visit here.
Server was great! All appetizers were great and sides. Got the bacon wrapped scallops, applewood bacon, baked clams, mashed potatoes and french fries. But the steak was flavorless. I tried 3 different sauces and they didnt compliment the steak. I was surprised since i have been to another location and they are known for their steaks. Very disappointing. Also watch with the prices of wines by the glass definitely better value to get by the bottle. My wine was $20 a glass and boyfriends was $45 a glass!!! - suggested by server.
Great food and service. Definitely pricey but worth it.
Excellent food, service and drink selection. Nice having a pre-fixe on a Saturday as well. Great selection. Will definitely return in the near future.
I took my granddaughter out for dinner and a play for her birthday. The food and service was great, however, the noise level ruined our experience. There was a large table of men behind us who were unbearably noisy. I understand that they were having a good time. They should have been given a separate room.
Austin was a superior wait staff personnel and made us feel like we were at home.
Noisy atmosphere, to say the least.
Hi Arthur thank you so much for dining at the Palm West! Austin will be thrilled to read this review we hope to see you soon ! regards , Chris Gilman GM
Everything delicious and service excellent. Way too loud though, hard to hear other people at our table
Food as always was very good and the service was excellent. I wish there had been more choices for wine that are under $100/bottle. It's a shame that the owners cannot resolve their differences. The new owners will probably mess up a good thing!
The service was good. Our SteakHouse salad was wonderful. Salmon was just ok, bland. The worst was my daughter ordered the Lobster BLT. You would think- BLT with some lobster on it. No, it’s a chopped up in tiny pieces lobster, celery, etc. She said you couldn’t really tell what kind of seafood was in it, so overpowered by everything else in it. Coffee and dessert was good. I’d definitely go back for the Steakhouse Salad.
Chris is back as manager. It has already gone up five notches in food (new chef) and service!
The main reason we went to the Palm was because of the history of the restaurant. The wait staff was extremely pleasant and attentive. One steak was cooked to perfection while the other one (filet mignon) was extremely charred on the outside. Overall, the food was pretty good, but it was extremely overpriced, especially for the size of the servings. Iconic atmosphere and fun for a one time splurge.
Food and service are great, I would recommended to have more options of wine by glass.
Dinner with my son.
Our server was great!
The service was fantastic and the food was good. I had an issue with the room temperature. The room would go from unbearably hot to freezing, almost like they opened a door to let in the cold air to cool the place off.
Been going to this location for years. This time, service was not as attentive as in previous years. Food was good, but some fondly remembered items were not on menu. The Palm is still a good NYC steakhouse, but nothing ever stays the same....
Always great. Never cheap.
Decent food though quite pricey for what it was in comparison to others. The sides are enormous, would be good if they offered size options for sides as you’re stuck if you don’t like the same things as those you are with!
The place to go when you are in NYC
Food and staff were great
