Dinner to celebrate wife's birthday. She and I enjoyed great steaks! Side dishes were also very good. Mashed potatoes were yummy. Started with a huge salad, very good, and the shrimp cocktail was great. Wine list was extensive but focused on California with only a few offerings from Washington state and Oregon also with a few from Australia. For dessert the staff gathered and sang Happy Birthday. We were the 3rd BD party celebrating out of a total of 4 that evening.
Wed were surprised that for a Sunday evening in early April the restaurant was packed and extremely loud! Had to shout across the table to one another to be heard. Not as relaxing and enjoyable as we may have wished.
Service overall was good and valet parking was also good.
This was a very special meal for a large (12) group of family. I had called in advance and asked to be seated in a quiet corner, at a round table, and with extra staff to take care of our needs. Every little detail was handled perfectly. Our server was one of the best we’ve every had. The food was terrific. I really can’t say enough good things about this dining experience.
It was a business lunch. I order the fixed menu for $26.00. the medallions were bland and the ceasar salad the lettuce was not even green. It was kind of disappointing. The service was kind of slow too. The first server a female was kind of nice but her face demonstrated sort of an attitude and then something happened that a male server came we had to wait for our check. It was just disappointing.
I used to come to the Palm more often but I have come less and less through the years as restaurant’s pricey offerings.
Too loud. It was hard to hear the people at my own table
Food was fantastic
Good, service, environment, power lunch price and quickness all great. It’s the Palm!
All steaks were over-done
What a waste, terrible experience and super expensive. Go somewhere else.
Great service, better food
2 out of 3 steaks were over cooked. Felt rushed although restaurant was not busy and sever took check before we were finished with our meal to look at tip, she then returned to let us know our leftovers that were being packaged up had gotten thrown away including our desserts. After spending way too much . Very unsatisfactory
The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. I highly recomend this restaurant.
Dinner was fantastic!
Everyone there was amazing. The managers were very welcoming, the hostess even took pictures of my daughters for their social media. Our waiter, Chuck, was the man. Very knowledgeable and super friendly. The food was out of this world. Can't wait to go back again.
The service is excellent: attentive but not intrusive. The atmosphere is quintessential "inside the Beltway." The food is good; the prices are on the higher end.
John our server makes for a great lunch
Food is always terrific. Great staff and ambiance. Always a treat
Ask for Ivo, he was personable in addition to be a great server. Our pace was perfect. Food was great as well!
The Palm is a great place to go and enjoy a wonderful meal .
I've been here a few times, every time I return I seem to like it less. The place is dated, the tables seemed to be bunched together without a reasonable amount of space even for the wait staff to move around. The service was poor, we poured most of our refills for wine and water. The wait staff was not trained for what you expect at a place with this type of brand and menu price. Very disappointed. There are many other better choices with top notch service and atmosphere. The Capital Grill, and Mastro's are two examples of much better alternatives.
Exceptional service. Outstanding food
What’s there not to like? It’s the Palm!! Always great service with great food. The perfect spot for a business lunch!
I took my wife to The DC Palm restaurant for her birthday, as it is a high-end restaurant and we had enjoyed meals at their Miami location. We had previously had a meal at the DC location that didn't meet our expectations, but thought to give it another chance, so I made a reservation for my wife's birthday.
The experience was very horrible. My wife ordered lamb chops cooked medium-well and asked that there be no blood. When she got them, they were cooked rare. So she sent them back. She then ordered a shrimp cocktail to eat something while she waited. The shrimp were not fresh, and did not taste good at all. Finally, she got the lamb chops and this time they had cooked the chops so much, it was like they were boiled. She forced herself to eat one but then couldn't continue and left the restaurant hungry. When my wife complained to the manager about the food quality, she apologized and offered to give my wife another glass of wine. But she then asked her if she was drinking the 6 ounce or 9 ounce glass. We couldn't believe it. If your customer is that upset, should you really ask them which size wine they had ordered? Also, I had ordered a New York Strip, but the taste was not what you would expect from a $50 steak. If a steak restaurant can't cook their steak or lamb correctly, they may as well close their doors. We weren't happy with the server either as she did not address my wife when she came to the table and had a bad attitude. This experience completely ruined my wife's birthday and we will not be going back
We love this restaurant. The food is fantastic. Lobster and steaks are outstanding, but you must experience the chicken parmesan. Never had anything close anywhere else, and I lived in northern NJ for 20 years. The main dining room gets really noisy however. The way to deal with the noise is to sit in the front room. Noise or not, this remains a special dining experience. Come prepared to pay for that.
The Palm never disappoints. I brought friends who had never been, with the promise of old school charm and modern food options. Yes, yes, and yes on all accounts. The wagu ribeye was the best steak I have ever eaten, and I have eaten at hundreds of steakhouses. Thanks to the wonderful wait staff as well.
Food is OK BUT OVERPRICED. Atmosphere is loud and as the crowd increased service level decreased. Overall, I don’t believe the cost is high for what you get. Maybe I had high expectations after all the hype.
I visit Washington DC every year, and the DC Palm never, never disappoints. Each steak, ribeye and strip, were done to perfection, tender, and served hot. Above all, the maitre d' is among the best I have ever encountered - - he even went outside on a cold night to hail a cab for us. Our server was fun, professional and prompt. Eating at the Palm DC is a joy!
Great place for steak. The wine list is respectable and reasonably priced for DC. The steaks are very good, great sides. I especially recommend the brussel sprouts and the hash browns. Sides are large enough to share with a table of 4-6, half size options are available. The noise level is a bit high so if you have business to discuss get a booth.
The Palm still has an amazing steak. And the appetizers and sides are stellar. The lobster Mac and cheese was creamy and loaded with lobster—really the best I have ever had! the Waiter was incredibly knowledgeable and so very friendly. My husband and I ordered non alcoholic beer which came ice cold and with an icy glass which we greatly appreciated. The portions were huge so watch your ordering. The only downside was the noise level which was off the charts—we were in a booth in the back of the restaurant and had trouble hearing our groups conversation.
The best double cut steak in the country
The DC Palm is a special place. We received excellent service and the steak was worth the splurge. I would rather eat one meal at The Palm than 100 other places.
Went for a date night on Fri at 530they have valet that starts at 6 but there is street parking for 2.00$ pretty bomb atmosphere would go again get the steak and grilled asparagus don't get the wild mushrooms
Excellent food — especially the steak. The waiter was very helpful with suggestions. It was great to have an excellent meal in a relaxed, non- rushed setting.
Excellent per usual. Recommend for a steak but all of us got the fish and it was perfect.
I was in DC for five days and tried 4 different steakhouses . The Palms had the best steak. Service was very good. It’s a nice quite place where you can visit. I was very impressed.
In my opinion, there are only all of perhaps seven restaurants in DC that can still claim "service" as something they aspire to provide. The Palm DC (at least the times I have visited) is one of them. Kind and immaculate service, dependable and consistent quality of food (the one place if you are looking for US beef in THIS general area would be the place that prides themselves in prime rib (hint)). I am so grateful that this restaurant is in my neighborhood. THANK YOU to everyone at The Palm DC.
Seated immediately; patient and attentive service; excellent food and generous cocjrail.
I was a bit disappointed. My wife takes me to The Palm for my birthday dinner annually. We have always had an outstanding experience. First of all the noise level in the restaurant was intolerable. It was so loud, you could not hold a conversation at the table without yelling. I ordered a crab cake as appetizer. There was a hair in it. Told waiter, not sure if he thought I was joking. Nothing was done about it. Then I ordered a 18 oz New York Strip medium. It was served rare. The waiter returned the steak to be cooked properly. As you well know once a steak is taken off the grill or out of the oven, you don't put it back in without ruining it. The steak was returned dry and tough. The manager then came to the table and was very courteous and replaced the steak, which in turn was served just as rare as the first one. At this point, I just accepted the steak. One of my guest had to return his ribeye steak, for being under cooked as well. Now we get the check. We were charged for items we did not order. We were charged for a creme' brulee that was brought out while the staff sang Happy Birthday. First time in 5 yrs we were charged for that. Which is fine, but I did not order it. The waiter did take off the items off the bill that were not ordered. All in all I am a bit disappointed in the food we were served for a bill including tip that totaled over $900.00.
Date with fiance. Good time... restaurant got kind of loud around 7 pm. Good steak but overpriced. Crabcakes were delicious. Scallop appetizer... only 3 scallops... ideally, you'd have at least 4, in my opinion. Service was professional. Asian lady handled initial contact and kept glasses filled and table clean. Waiter was on it and very professional.
