The Palm Tysons Corner Ratings and Reviews
We came to the Palm to take my daughter and boyfriend to dinner. We are from Connecticut and given my daughter’s love of steak, we thought she would appreciate it. She loved it and frankly, we all loved the food. I had veal Marsala and the others in my party had either filet mignon or sirloins. They were cooked perfectly and were great. We had salads, three of us had the iceberg wedge (which were fantastic) and my future son-in-law had a mixed green salad. We had the family style sides of mushrooms, fried potato chips/onions and the brussels sprouts. All the sides were great, just too much food. The waiter (Tim from Providence) was friendly, funny, and we talked a lot as he was familiar with our home town. Tim was probably the best waiter we have ever had anywhere and just a super nice guy. The only negative is that the food is expensive. We did not have any alcohol and the check was about $65 per person. For me, this is more of special occasion meal.
This was our 12th visit to The Palm...shopping trip each year. Tim is the best manager and Mischka is always the best waiter. Food is fantastic and they treat us like queens. We drive from Virginia Beach and will continue to make the trek each year. None can beat them!!!!
Food was great. Service was mediocre - not real attentive, and we had to refill our own wines glasses from the carafes/decanter because the service wasn't checking in. We got our check, which showed a total of $X. We presented a credit card, and when the credit card slip came back, it showed an amount of $X+Y. The server did not explain why the card was swiped for more than my check. I then studied the check and realized he had apparently left something off - but he didn't bother to explain it when he brought the credit card slip - and when I asked about it, he was totally unsymapathetic. The manager wasn't much better. Back to The Capital Grille for a more enjoyable and personal experience.
I dined at The Palm in D.C. for the first time. I sat in the bar because I wanted to watch the World Series game. The bar was fine and service was very good. I ordered the bone-in ribeye, which I normally order when I'm enjoying a steak. However, I was disappointed in the steak. It was not very tender and was lacking in flavor from what I expect from a angus prime ribeye, especially a bone-in cut. The wedge salad and potatoes au gratin were outstanding, but I would probably select another steakhouse on my next visit based on the actual steak.
Great side dishes, superb location, excellent service but the steaks.......oh well, that’s another story! The great years of the early eighties are long gone......I was a weekly ‘frequent flyer’ at their two original Manhattan’s Second Ave places, those were all around royal treats!
We were three the other day.....our meat was just poor!!!!!!
Fillet was cooked fine but not tasty at all, the same goes for the NY Strip and the Porterhouse, felt like they just came from the local supermarket! I was trying to impress my two old friends who just flew in from Rome, Italy!. I was originally going to take them to Morton’s.....
Went for a treat for our 13 year olds birthday, somewhere different from the restaurants we normally go to. The appetizers and service were good. The main course's were all undercooked. Medium Filet came out medium rare at best. Medium rare came out essentially blue and the seabass special was 'chewy'. Needless to say it will be a long time before we try The Palm again.
Steaks were delicious- as one should expect from a steak house. Chopped salad seem very underwhelming , if not pre- prepared and soggy. Dessert was good. This steak house is a classic, but unfortunately, the quality of of food does not measure up to the prices (given the kind of quality of food choices we have in the D.C/NorthernVA area.)
Evening started out with very slow service despite only a third of the tables being full. Ordered large porterhouse to split and two sides. Sides were good. Steak was ordered medium but came out rare. Sent it back and it came out burnt. Will never return to this dump.
Pretty disappointed in the quality of the food especially for the price. SeaBass with crab and couple fo shrimp for $58 was not even good let alone worth it. My Veal Chop was 1/2 the size it used to be and was incredibly fatty, more than I've seen on any Veal Chop before, anywhere. For a special occasion, it was really a waste of money, one appetizer, two drinks, veal chop and sea bass for $268. Don't think we'll be back.
Great job by all at the Palm for making my mother-in-law's birthday very special. 1st class lobster and steak -- fantastic service. Nice to go to the Tysons location, which is less crowded and less loud than the DC location. (Not to take anything away from DC Palm, which is also great -- just louder)
