The Palm San Antonio Ratings and Reviews
A little disappointed with the meal. Steaks were done perfectly for both of us and delicious. The Caesar salad was tasty but lettuce was warm and not crisp and the dressing was so-so. Asparagus was delicious. But my biggest disappointment was a special for the Palm - the "Half and Half" which was described as cottage fries and onions. It turned out to be large slices of crisp potato chips with curly fried crisp onion rings which reminded me of the canned type you put on green bean casserole. It could have been finger food or appetizer instead of a side dish. The crème brulee was wonderful to go along with the delicious coffee. Overall, it was a nice dinner but I believe a little over-priced.
While the meal as a whole was excellent as always, our server was quite slow and made a few mistakes in our bill; while these were small matters, maybe there needs to e a little more training, because every other time the servers have done an excellent job. Again, a minor matter, but I thought this needed to be brought to your attention, and this will NOT deter us from future Palm visits!
Have been here many times before. Last time was for a birthday. Paige, our server, was wonderful. Food was amazing. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant any time for any occasion!!
Lobster and Shrimp Cocktail are the BEST!!!
Thank you Melanie!!
Thank you Paige!!
Thank you staff!
We made reservations at the Palm for our 29th wedding anniversary. Much to our surprise the food was awful. The filets that we ordered were not cooked correctly, the hash browns were to greasy to eat and the creamed spinach had a sour taste to it. Our waiter did an excellent job of trying to take care of the situation including having the steaks re-cooked. We felt for the money we were paying we should not have to send the food back to the kitchen. We finally gave up and took the food home with us thinking we could fix it. Unfortunately we ended up throwing it away. What little food we did consume made us both sick. We spent over $200 dollars for our anniversary dinner and got absolutely nothing for it.
Our waiter Alejandro was excellent! My Lamb chops were cooked perfectly and was a fairly large amount of Lamb! They did have the mint jelly to go with it! I ordered a single serving of the Brussels sprouts... marvelous - but enough to serve 3-4 peeps! Bar drinks were well made and my after dinner coffee was good also. However... my wife ordered the special "Bacon wrapped scallops"... and they were a tad small and the bacon over-took the flavor of them. They replaced them with the "menu Coconut crusted scallops"- , but yet again... the coconut overpowered the scallops there too! They were cooked just fine, just one extreme to another!
I was a tad surprised that only a few of the desert items were made "in house"? All in excellent meal and we will be back.
This was our second time to visit The Palm. The first was great and the second was better. Its just a wonderful place for me and my wife to enjoy a date night. The service is tremendous and the food was cooked perfectly. But above all, the people there are top notch. From the host/hostess to the server and assistant, they just make date night a wonderful experience. I suppose to put it bluntly, if you want to treat your wife, take her here. She will love it.
Have been dining at The Palm restaurants since the 1970's and the food is always consistently delicious. The clams oreganato are a longtime favorite and just as I remembered. Tried the veal Marsala for the first time and it was rich and flavorful. Others had the veal Martini and the surf and turf which were enjoyed as well. Service was impeccable. Although a little pricey, I would highly recommend any Palm restaurant for a great meal and evening out!
My wife and I had a blast at the Palm. The staff was more attentive than other fine steak houses. Very knowledgeable about the menu and the best options for diners expectations. Will be back again. The price was higher than most but the service was second to none. We’ll be back for sure. I can’t put a price on service and product combined
I found the price very expensive and the meal substandard. We ordered the wedge salad and the lettuce was yellow and consisted of mainly the core. I ordered the small filet (medium well) and the meat was charred. The three cheese potatoes were quite good. Even the tea was very weak and tasted funny. I’m very easy to please and seldom accused of being overly critical. I think the management of The Palm would have agreed with me on this review if they’d had our food. For $150 anyone would have expected a great meal. We went to Texas Roadhouse the next night and for $32 the meal was what I would have expected, at the very least,at the palm excellent!
I would like to say that if I opened a restaurant the first person I would poach from The Palm is Leslie Barkley as my General Manager. She was fantastic from the second we walked into the restaurant. My wife and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary at your fine establishment and we will remember it for years to come. Not only did she make us feel at home and comfortable, but she laughed at my terrible humor about our marriage being a new teenager that wanted to start rebelling with our current curfew for the evening. As an Accountant, I appreciate the value of capital assets and working capital, both of which Leslie represents on The Palm balance sheet. Better keep her happy or I may have to open a restaurant and come knocking on the Palm's door. Antwon was our waiter and he was fantastic as well. He very smoothly transitioned from our delightful conversation with Leslie to a very romantic and enjoyable occasion for my wife and I. He would be targeted as well IF we open a restaurant.
Thank you Palm. We will highly recommend your establishment to friends over this Holiday season.
We went with high expectations for a great anniversary dinner before heading to the theater. The booths are poorly designed and I could feel every movement from the person in the booth behind me. The Caeser salad was good. My husband’s steak was bland and over cooked. My lamb chops were fatty and bland and the mushrooms were overly sweet and odd-tasting. I even got sick through the night after eating there, but not sure which food item caused it. For the price, the food was not even close to being worth it. Will not be back.
Melanie helped me organize a business dinner for 19 guests in a private room. She was absolutely amazing. We kept constant communication which was so important since I live in Boston and all the guests were from out of town as well. She printed out the menu with our company logo and arranged a lovely fare. The meal was excellent. The waiters were fantastic. They re-arranged the whole seating scheme to accommodate one of my colleagues request in just minutes. The price was right! I want to thank Melanie and all of her crew for making the evening just perfect! I highly recommend The Palm for your next event in San Antonio. Look no further!
We made reservations at 6pm to celebrate our 35th anniversary before going to the Majestic at 8pm.
We arrived to a decorated table and were greeted by name. Very nice. The waitstaff was impeccable but the speed of service was woefully slow. Two hours should make for a leisurely experience but at 6:45, we finally placed our order. We were ready to order at 6:15.
The meal arrived at about 7:20. The attentiveness decreased a little at this point.
We ordered house specialties: Veal Martini and Chicken Parm. The Veal Martini was very good but mostly mushrooms and not much veal. Her plate was still full when the veal was gone. Mine, on the other hand, was ridiculously large. It arrived on a platter and covered the entire plate. Would have easily fed a family of four! (No exaggeration.) It tasted fabulous. I’m a BIG eater and I couldn’t eat a third of it. We both loved it.
Potatoes au Gratin were excellent, and we only at half. Get the small size even for two.
They offered to keep our leftovers to pickup after the show. Although we declined, I thought this was exceptional.
We loved the special service we received but it just took too long. The booth seats are flat with no cushions. By the time we left, we were both complaining of a little fanny-fatigue.
We’ll surely go back but not before a show. I’d expect more timely service on non-show nights or during a show.
I forgot to mention our cocktails were some of the best we’ve had! The bar is beautiful and worthy of a trip itself.
The Palm is a great place for a leisurely lunch before a matinee at the Majestic! The service was unhurried, but attentive... Didn't have to ask for anything. The 'Power Lunch' is a bargain....the salmon was delicious, as were the sides! My sister had the steak on the 'Power Lunch' menu, and it was perfectly cooked, as ordered, and very tender!!! Great atmosphere, friendly employees and delicious food! Wish Palm was open before every 'Broadway Series' matinee!
