The Palm San Antonio Ratings and Reviews
My wife and kids ate at the Palm before a show. Service was exceptional, they were behind in the kitchen and not able to get their food out until right before the curtain, leaving 5 min for eating. The Palm comped the entrees and invited them back for free dessert after the show. When they returned afterwards the staff remembered them and they had a nice dessert. Things happen at restaurants, and what separates the good from the great is how problems are dealt with when they occur. This place knows how business should be conducted.
We had dinner Friday night for my wife's birthday. We were seated in a booth very close to the front door. There was a lot of traffic back and forth by the table. The staff did wish my wife happy birthday. The service was good but the wait staff seemed spread very thin and rushed. It sounded at times like we were in a sports bar. We did appreciate the fact that the restaurant boxed and saved our food until the end of the theater and we were able to pick up our leftovers.
The Palm is my absolute favorite steak house. They know how to prepare "Pittsburgh" style. None of the other steak places know how to do that properly. This is the only steak house chain that is consistently excellent throughout the country.
Emily is a wonderful server!
We came to the Palm to hang out with friends and see San Antonio after traveling from
Dallas. Our server, Antwon, was amazing. He took such great care of us. The food was awesome. Definitely recommend the bone in rib eye, the filet, and the NY strip with lobster truffle butter. The mashed potatoes are to die for.
My husband and I love The Palm, this is has been our favorite restaurant and our go to for special occasions. But the service and food wasn’t that great on our last two visits this year, we liked it but we have decided to change restaurants next year. This decision comes from simple things but enough for us since this is a high end restaurant. They never replaced my silverware, we had two salt shakers and no pepper shaker we asked the waiter and we got the pepper but after I ate my salad and it would have been nice to have to fresh pepper but didn’t happen. Our water glasses were dirty and my husbands cocktail drinks took forever.
The food and service were superb. We’d hoped to have dinner at a nearby renowned SA steakhouse but they were booked for days so Palm was a second choice. Palm could be our first choice next time. Try the lamb chops says my wife, but I’d have another steak cooked to perfection. Wait staff, food and bar, really try hard to please the customer!
A great choice before theater. Knowing of our performance time, the waiter was very attentive and timed the courses so we did not feel rushed yet still had plenty of time to walk to the Empire, we even had dessert and coffee. We tried the Veal Martini, specialty dish and was superb. Cocktails and wine list we're also top notch.
Great place to celebrate Christmas dinner with family and friends. Emily, our server, was very attentive and accommodating. Our appetizers (including lobster bisque) and entrees (including veal parm and crab stuffed salmon) were superb.
Could not have had a more enjoyable holiday feast.
The Palm was incredible! From the young woman who greeted us to our server and the entire staff, everyone was friendly and made sure all your needs were met. The food was delicious and prepared just as we ordered it. This is truly and outstanding restaurant.
The Palm is a classic. My only issues were the price is pretty high- 2 glasses of wine, a salad, and a pasta entree ran us $125 pre-tip, and seating is VERY cozy. I could barely squeeze myself into my chair the tables are so close. Service was excellent as was the food, so overall we were very pleased.
The location was great for an evening downtown, we were seated quickly and in spite of how busy they were, the service was fairly good. The bread served and salad selection was great. However, the other appetizer food portions and price per plate was way too high compared to other outstanding restaurants in the area that we frequent. In addition, the quality of the food was sub-par in many ways. Notably, the scallops had no flavor at all and were mushy like they had been recently frozen and thawed under water just prior to they being battered and fried.
For the price, it was not great. Happy hour menu is only at the bar, which is loud, crowded, and narrow. The main dining is very nice, however. Very elegant and cozy.
Fried appetizers were a little oily, not crisp. Better calamari can be had elsewhere. Again, pretty pricey for what is served. Best feature is its proximity to the Majestic.
