The Palm San Antonio Ratings and Reviews
The service was exceptional. The food was delightful. The ambiance was decent. The staff was friendly and professional. The price was slightly higher than you would expect for the level of food that is on the menu. There’s no reason for an 8oz coke to cost 4.75 Would I eat there again? Of course. It’s a very nice place to have casual dining at upscale pricing.
The service was good until the end. My steak was to be taken home. My plate was collected and dirty dishes were placed on top of it. The meat was not returned to me. When I asked for it, it was brought to the table. Needless to say, at this point I did not want an expensive piece of beef that had other dishes sitting on top of it in the kitchen for quite some time. I have dined at the Palm in San Antonio and other cities numerous times. This type of service was not acceptable. They made no attempt to correct this.
This restaurant has totally sold out to the Majestic, the food did not match the price. I should have gone to Perry’s Steak House, so much better. It seemed that the staff wanted to rush us out. No one asked us if our steaks were satisfactory, or since we only ate 1/4 of our steaks if everything was ok. No personal responsibility was encountered during our experience, totally a tourist experience, not a high end restaurant.
As always, The Palm did not disappoint. Shared plates and a 4 pound lobster were spot on. The service was impeccable, and the entire staff were at the ready, but did not hover.
If you want a quite and intimate chain steakhouse in San Antonio, you can't go wrong with The Palm in downtown San Antonio.
We ate here before attending a concert at the Aztec. Prime Rib is FANTASTIC. By far the best I’ve ever had. The portion is huge, making it shareable for 2 which is what we chose to do. After getting to a slow start, we let our server know we only had 45mins because of the concert and he took care of the rest. Our food and drinks rolled out very quickly. We were able to eat at a reasonable pace and still make the concert. Lobster bisque is amazing as well. Love this place and definitely will be back!
The food is consistently off the chart great- and this night was the same; although entrees took way to long* for a Tuesday night or any night, six hungry business men devoured the hors doeuvres and three bottles of red wine-prior to--! the second bottle was not opened in front of us-I never had that done before in my 40 years + of fine dining & at over $150.00 a bottle a serious faux pas! We mentioned that oddity to the waiter and didn't get a reason.
*3 hour event from start to check
The Palm always delivers! I have yet to have a bad meal there. Great food, excellent wine and incredible service! I took a couple of friends for the first time and they loved it! Our wives had the chicken parmigiana which I ate half of because it was so good. My buddy had the 12 oz fillet and I had the 16 oz bone-in veal chop which was cooked to perfection! All sides are family style and may I recommend the hash browns (trust me!). The service was spot on as always. Our waiter Jaime is a true professional. As always, I look forward to our next visit!
My wife and kids ate at the Palm before a show. Service was exceptional, they were behind in the kitchen and not able to get their food out until right before the curtain, leaving 5 min for eating. The Palm comped the entrees and invited them back for free dessert after the show. When they returned afterwards the staff remembered them and they had a nice dessert. Things happen at restaurants, and what separates the good from the great is how problems are dealt with when they occur. This place knows how business should be conducted.
We had dinner Friday night for my wife's birthday. We were seated in a booth very close to the front door. There was a lot of traffic back and forth by the table. The staff did wish my wife happy birthday. The service was good but the wait staff seemed spread very thin and rushed. It sounded at times like we were in a sports bar. We did appreciate the fact that the restaurant boxed and saved our food until the end of the theater and we were able to pick up our leftovers.
The Palm is my absolute favorite steak house. They know how to prepare "Pittsburgh" style. None of the other steak places know how to do that properly. This is the only steak house chain that is consistently excellent throughout the country.
Emily is a wonderful server!
