The Palm San Antonio Ratings and Reviews
I would like to say that if I opened a restaurant the first person I would poach from The Palm is Leslie Barkley as my General Manager. She was fantastic from the second we walked into the restaurant. My wife and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary at your fine establishment and we will remember it for years to come. Not only did she make us feel at home and comfortable, but she laughed at my terrible humor about our marriage being a new teenager that wanted to start rebelling with our current curfew for the evening. As an Accountant, I appreciate the value of capital assets and working capital, both of which Leslie represents on The Palm balance sheet. Better keep her happy or I may have to open a restaurant and come knocking on the Palm's door. Antwon was our waiter and he was fantastic as well. He very smoothly transitioned from our delightful conversation with Leslie to a very romantic and enjoyable occasion for my wife and I. He would be targeted as well IF we open a restaurant.
Thank you Palm. We will highly recommend your establishment to friends over this Holiday season.
We went with high expectations for a great anniversary dinner before heading to the theater. The booths are poorly designed and I could feel every movement from the person in the booth behind me. The Caeser salad was good. My husband’s steak was bland and over cooked. My lamb chops were fatty and bland and the mushrooms were overly sweet and odd-tasting. I even got sick through the night after eating there, but not sure which food item caused it. For the price, the food was not even close to being worth it. Will not be back.
We made reservations at 6pm to celebrate our 35th anniversary before going to the Majestic at 8pm.
We arrived to a decorated table and were greeted by name. Very nice. The waitstaff was impeccable but the speed of service was woefully slow. Two hours should make for a leisurely experience but at 6:45, we finally placed our order. We were ready to order at 6:15.
The meal arrived at about 7:20. The attentiveness decreased a little at this point.
We ordered house specialties: Veal Martini and Chicken Parm. The Veal Martini was very good but mostly mushrooms and not much veal. Her plate was still full when the veal was gone. Mine, on the other hand, was ridiculously large. It arrived on a platter and covered the entire plate. Would have easily fed a family of four! (No exaggeration.) It tasted fabulous. I’m a BIG eater and I couldn’t eat a third of it. We both loved it.
Potatoes au Gratin were excellent, and we only at half. Get the small size even for two.
They offered to keep our leftovers to pickup after the show. Although we declined, I thought this was exceptional.
We loved the special service we received but it just took too long. The booth seats are flat with no cushions. By the time we left, we were both complaining of a little fanny-fatigue.
We’ll surely go back but not before a show. I’d expect more timely service on non-show nights or during a show.
I forgot to mention our cocktails were some of the best we’ve had! The bar is beautiful and worthy of a trip itself.
The Palm is a great place for a leisurely lunch before a matinee at the Majestic! The service was unhurried, but attentive... Didn't have to ask for anything. The 'Power Lunch' is a bargain....the salmon was delicious, as were the sides! My sister had the steak on the 'Power Lunch' menu, and it was perfectly cooked, as ordered, and very tender!!! Great atmosphere, friendly employees and delicious food! Wish Palm was open before every 'Broadway Series' matinee!
My husband and I visited the restaurant for a late lunch on a Friday. We both ordered steak off the business lunch menu. We requested medium well, but received well done steaks. Our waitress offered to redo our order to correct the error. The second time the steaks was cooked medium, which was closer to what we requested. We also had the New York Cheese Cake, which tasted old and stale. Of the (4) locations we have visited this is our least favorite.
Our waiter was "Nacho" and the service was outstanding! The food was less than so. My friend said the crab cakes were delicious and my friend who got steak was very pleased with the taste and the way it was prepared. My sister said the clam pasta was horrible -- dry pasta, few clams, and very little sauce. My chicken parmesan was just okay and the creamed spinach was not good at all. We did love the mushrooms. Such mixed reviews made average food very over-priced! The room was very over-crowded and very noisy. All in all, not a good dining experience, but with very good service!
Our waitress was fabulous and extremely attentive. The service was fabulous but I was a tad disappointed with the bread selection and, to me, somehow, it just did not feel like fine dining. I guess I was expecting something else and although the food was great, and the selection was good, the ambience did not fit the occasion.
