Our first experience was highly disappointing. We were advised it was the last evening service before a renovation. The menu was limited and some items were not available. We ordered an appetizer and we were pleased with this portion of the service and food. After we concluded with the appetizer and our dishes we cleared we never saw the waitress again. She had been working our table and a large table were the “regulars” were seated. We patiently waited and waited till a manager came by to check on us. By that time we made reservations with Bohanan’s next door. We had a wonderful and attentive waiter and a great experience there.
Food and service was fantastic! Only drawback was that there was a very large party that was extremely loud. Hopefully after the renovation there will be a separate party room for large parties.
Loved it as always. My wife and a friend are here before a show at the majestic. And food was superb and service was great. Impressive as always.
Always great food and even better service!
I've eaten at the Palm for years and its always been our "go to" celebration restaurant. The food was very disappointing. I don't know whats happened to the Palm, but we will find an alternate go to.
Excellent service, Michael was a great waiter! We celebrated my best friends birthday and everything was perfect all the way to Dessert!!!
Great as always. Doesn’t get any better than The Palm.
We celebrated an anniversary and 70th birthday at the Palm. The steak was just ok and I will not go back to any Palm for steak. The made our celebrations festive and the staff was friendly. The location is undergoing renovations the end of June and it definitely needs it.
Date night with my beautiful bride to see a Broadway show across the street at the Majestic Theater, so we dropped by The Palm for drinks 🍸🥃, appetizers, and dessert. The jumbo lump crab cake 🦀and the thick cut bacon 🥓 with house-made steak sauce were both awesome! The warm cinnamon sugar donut holes were a perfect sweet topper.
That was our first visit to this Palm location in several years, but we will back very soon for steak!🥩
Seated at a table that wobbled so much that I could hear ice in the glasses jingle. The food was brought by a server, not the waiter, who did not know which one of us ordered what (there were only two of us at the table). The server asked who ordered the "Westend Salad"? I said I had ordered the "Gigi Salad" to which the server replied that he didn't know what that was and that the kitchen told him it was a "Westend salad" and he had no idea what a "Gigi whatever" was. The waiter confirmed that it indeed was a "Gigi salad" but the kitchen didn't call it that. The food was okay but not anything to talk about. This is not what I would call a high-end restaurant with high-end service. The prices however are high-end.
Disappointing on several levels.
Iceberg wedge was over the top overdressed with bacon etc Featured beef was over seasoned and over cooked. So sad bc I was really looking for a great steak.
Green beans were inedible bc of toughness!! Like eating twigs. Waiter never asked why we did not eat them.
Key lime pie was not...lime!! None detected in the quite flat flavor of this pie. Left over half on the plate.
Hubby liked the flourless chocolate cake.
What happened to the quality at Palm??
Excellent meal and an enjoyable night once again. Can't wait till the 2019/2020 season at the Majestic Theater begins so I can have more great meals and shows. Wonderful service from Hondo! Thanks!
Jacob was wonderful as our waiter with great suggestions. Gave us our favorite booth for my wife's birthday. Great food as always. Love eating there before our plays at the Majestic.
Food was average. Service slow.
When we left the restaurant I realized how warm it was inside the restaurant. Much cooler when we got to the theater. I have had great food and great service here before but this time was very average!
Our server, Alejandro, attended to our every need. I really like the team concept -- makes sure that you are attended to for anything you may need. Will be back soon.
Terrific service, succulent lobster, and a welcoming atmosphere add up to a truly enjoyable dining experience.
They will soon be doing 5 weeks of renovations. Updating will help,
Underwhelmed is the word I’ve shared with people that have asked. Perhaps my expectations were too high? Our server was friendly and attentive but I was underwhelmed with my tepid steak. It was lukewarm at best and undercooked for Medium. Brussels sprouts lacked flavor and salt needed to be added to provide some taste. While I wore professional attire for the business casual store, I was disappointed so see shorts and flip flops for diners, even for San Antonio.
The Palm is the perfect pre-show cocktail and bites. Fast and friendly without losing the high end feel. Love it.
My wife and I enjoyed a very delicious meal including shrimp Bruno, lobster bisque, lettuce wedge salad, pasta with white clam sauce, veal martini and a great carrot cake. We recommend splitting the wedge lettuce because it is huge, and the same with the carrot cake. Pasta was delicious but would have like to have had more clams in the dish. Stemmari white wine from Sicily (Pinot Grigio) was excellent. We have been here several times and definitely recommend it for a great meal in San Antonio. Valet parking available and can be included on your check.
As a woman "of a certain age" I'm never made to feel out of place dining alone. Eating here before a show at the Majestic Theater makes the experience that much better. Thanks!
Champion Reserve Ribeye was surprisingly mediocre.. very sinewy and grisly. Drinks, wine , sides, appetizers were outstanding. Waiter was friendly and attentive.
Our birthday dinner celebration was wonderful! Our waitress was Whitney and she offered exceptional service throughout the evening, very attentive. We will definitely be back! Thank you
Excellent service, outstanding food. Everything we had was delicious and served at the correct temperature.
The service and ambience were fine. The food was average at best. Given The Palm's reputation and price, I was disappointed.
Emily was absolutely wonderful. Can't wait to come back just to see her!
Our service and food were outstanding. We needed to get in and out quickly to go to a play and we were done in under an hour.
The Palm was great. Our server Emily was awesome. They are very accommodating to theater goers.
Great food and service!
The food at The Palm is definitely better than average. My wife's fish was wonderful and my crab cakes were good. A great bonus is the ability to use the valet parking for dinner AND theater at The Majestic.
Suggestions for The Palm:
Offer more selections of vegetables as sides.
Serve at least one upscale bread before dinner as they do at Cappy's and Paisanos.
Great staff and great food! We will continue to visit and to recommend it to our friends and visitors!
I enjoyed everything except our server. He should work at a coffee shop and not fine dining. I ordered a glass of Malbec. The guys says, what kind? I said Malbec. He says, what brand? I said, your house Malbec is fine. Then he said, that’s not much help, I’ll pick something out for you. So, I reply any Malbec is fine. As long as it’s from Argentina. He says, They aren’t all from Argentina. I said, really? Well, if you have a brand that is not from Argentina, save it for someone else. I want an Argentine Malbec please. Then he said, I’ll find something. It was an odd exchange to say the least. He also messed up our valet situation. I had to try to retrieve my car without a ticket. I told the valet guy that I wasn’t given anything from the server. He said, maybe he was busy? It took about 10 minutes to sort that out. Other than that, I enjoyed it. On a side note, I don’t see the point of having a Malbec that’s not from Argentina. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Food was very good as you would expect. Service wasn’t up to snuff. Distracted and forgetful. Even felt a bit rushed. It was good experience overall but I generally would hold Palm to higher expectations as I have experienced in the past.
My wife and one of our daughters split the 9oz filet. It was cooked to perfection (medium rare) but the half of the steak that my daughter was served contained a couple of gristle (chewy) pieces. Since it was being "shared/split", the chef could have chosen a filet that was more evenly marbled and served (2) very nice small filets. The Caesar salad was a little heavy on the dressing, but I actually prefer it that way! Service was great. Prompt and attentive. Dined here many times, and we will return again when we are in town.
Food and Service was great. Our server Jacob was attentive and made sure we were on time for our theatre showing.
We really enjoyed our experience at The Palm. We went before seeing Hamilton across the street and the staff was very accommodating about making sure we would make it and not be rushed. My boyfriend and I wanted to share a steak and we ordered it medium rare even though I prefer medium. It was too rare for me and they were nice enough to put mine back on the grill for a few more minutes. We had at least two people waiting on us most of the time which made me feel very fancy. The only thing I don’t love is the way they do their sides “family style.” We got a boat of mashed potatoes and one of Brussels sprouts, which were delicious, but too much to finish for two people. Overall it was lovely and I’m sure I’ll be back.
Service was fantastic! Food was just meh. I’ve eaten the same or higher quality food elsewhere (Biga, Silo, Cured, Whiskey Cake, Feast). The hype of The Palm exceeded the actual taste/quality of the food. I have no burning desire to return based on the taste of the food alone. We ordered a salad, steak, 2 sides, and a flight of whiskey.
Great as always
Always a pleasure dining at The Palm. Outstanding service and amazing fare.
The valet parking was very unorganized after the theater!
