We were celebrating my sisters birthday. Lovely lunch and great service.
Management was VERY attentive to every need
Had dinner reservations before a show at the Majestic. The waiter asked about our plans and timed the service so we were out in time.
The food is consistent and good. It’s always our pre-show dinner. I just wish they had 2 pound lobsters. I can eat a 3 pound but would rather not be so full.
I've always enjoyed The Palm but this time, I was a little disappointed. They remodeled the restaurant and I didn't care for the new updates. It's much brighter now, which I enjoyed the ambiance of a New York steakhouse and it's more open, which I do like. By opening it up, the bar area is no longer a quaint area to meet up. They increased the prices in order to pay for the remodel. Example, instead of $15 for a martini, it's now $17. The service was lacking in the dining area and the new manager wasn't that impressive either. Probably won't go back any time soon.
Lobster bisque average
Crab cakes excellent
Creamed spinach excellent
Mushroom caps bland
Key lime pie excellent
Bread came to table after bisque was served
The lobster was HORRIBLE!! Chewy and disgusting. We won't go back. We were so disappointed in the food. The calamari was just as bad.
My job for the evening was look for our waiter/ server playing a lot of hide & seek and he’s answer was always “ I sorry are you ready to order? “ I had to call the manager to find out the status of our meal ... the cherry on the top was .... “ I sorry for this evening “ I’ll add a dessert to go what would you like.?” We leave the Resturant and ... you guess it ... no dessert in our carry out. Very noisy inside .... want to enjoy your evening? GO NEXT DOOR TO Bohanan’s Prime Steaks & Seafood . ( Im a member of open table since 2008) thank you
Excellent before the theater meal .
Decided to take a valued employee out as he missed a recognition for our offices best work place award. He stayed behind as we had some issues with our new phone system. The Palm lunch with him was just a recognition of this excellent employee.
Much too long between seating, ordering, serving courses, and receiving the check.
The Palm in San Antonio is always good. It’s my “go to” for pre-theater dining. The food is quintessential New York Italian. It’s a bit noisy, but I highly recommend.
Memorable pre-theatre dinner with our granddaughters . Food was delicious and the service was excellent !
Highly recommend !
Server, Jake, did not manage our time before the show (2 hours) and we missed out on dessert. Messed up the bill between our party of 4, but due to time we will settle up with each other later. One person asked for tea, took 20+ minutes to get it. Two of us ordered appetizer crab cakes with Jacima slaw, one slaw was half the size of the other and the server said he would bring me more and never did. Not the service I expect from The Palm.
While we greeted nicely at the front desk, the server left a bit to be desired. Slow, unsure of prices and slow to follow up on our needs. The food if very good, but OH my, the prices. Would not be hard to leave with out spending over $100 before the tip. If the ambiance is what you are looking for, there is quite a bit. Overall, I'd go again of someone else was footing the bill. Otherwise, traffic, location and cost would probably keep me from going again.
I was not crazy for my fish (Sea bass). It was not seasoned very much at all. I did not have the shrimp and crab addition as I was not that hungry. Others having steak said it was not cooked as they ordered. Fried asparagus was okay, a little bland. Wine was great. Crab cakes, chips, and onions were good.
Great experience as usual.
Jake is the BEST waiter ever.
Perfect volume for actually holding a conversation.
Lobster bisque barely has any lobster in it. Steak was ok, prepared correctly
Great food and service! The location was perfect for our outing to the Empire Yheater.
Awesome Birthday dinner
The Palm was just ok. Having recently been there with friends, my boyfriend and I decided to enjoy a night out and revisit. I have to tell you, the food is overpriced for the quality and flavor. It’s not terrible, it’s actually good, but it’s really nothing to write home about. Service was good but nothing out of this world. We love J. Alexander’s at the Quarry. The food is a fraction of the price and the service is next level. Overall I don’t think we will be returning to the Palm, like I said before, it’s not bad, but at that price point, I 100% expect stellar.
Enjoyed dinner before a show at the Majestic! Food and service were great! Shout out to Paige who brought out a lobster for my 3 year old son to see. While it’s a fine dining establishment, they cater to little ones very well. It was a lovely experience.
Enjoyed the ambiance and them accommodating our request to move closer to the bar and the televisions!
Manager and bartender should be fired for incompetence. Server was top notch.

This was a great dining experience! My wife and I where in on business and tried for a relaxing meal! The double New York strip and the 4 lb lobster made for an outstanding evening! I will definitely go back for more!
This is one of my go to steakhouses in SA. Very consistent food, great ambiance, fantastic service.
Steak was over cooked, wedge salad was just ok. Did not think the expywas worth the cost. Also, ambiance was leas than thrilling. Bright and open room
We always enjoy the Palm. The service is consistently great as well as the food.
I have already addressed my concerns with GM Robert Sanchez over the very poor service. Robert was very nice and apologetic, and I apologized for not being able to leave my server a better tip. We were one of the two occupied tables when we arrived, and we were the second to last table out. Service on our last visit was outstanding, so of course, we were disappointed this last time. Robert made a note that we prefer our first server (Jacob) on our next visit. We passed Jacob as we were leaving, he recognized us and greeted us with a smile. Such a nice restaurant.
Also, I expressed that we would like the coffee beans in our Sambuca - The Palm has not had coffee beans for our last two trips. Three coffee beans in your Sambuca serving should be a given.
Steaks (filet and ribeye) were tender but lacked flavor. Service was excellent. Restaurant was recently reconfigured / remodeled. Noise level we felt was overbearing. Difficult to hold one on one conversation due to the noise level.
I presented our "Open Table Reward" of $50 to the waiter who in turn gave it to the manager. The manager said he couldn't get it to register so he gave it back to us without attempting to contact "Open Table". I contacted "Open Table" via their 800 number and an assistant manager successfully submitted the reward for us. I was not happy with how the manager initially handled our Open Table Reward.
I love dining at The Palm and normally have no issues. But when you have a 5:00 reservation (and are seated a few minutes early) and advise the server, when asked, that you want to be finished a few minutes before 7:00 because you’re attending a 7:30 performance, you kinda expect that your meal will be served in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, we didn’t get our food until almost 7:00...I was speaking to the manager at 6:41 and the table was still empty except for our drinks. When we did receive our steaks, they were not prepared as requested but we had no time to send them back. So we ended up leaving quite a lot of food uneaten...no time to request that it be boxed up. The manager did take care of the bill even though I made it clear I wasn’t complaining in order to get a free meal. It was such a disappointing experience especially because we had been looking forward to it.
That said, however, we will dine there again but it will probably be a few months before we go back. And it did seem that every other table...again, ALL seated after we were!...around us was getting their food quickly and having a great time.
Great service! Treated us like family. Will go again for sure.
We went to see our favorite production, Les Mis next door t the Majestic and topped off the evening with dinner at one of our favorite downtown spots The Palms. We hoed up over an hour prior to our reservation & were sat right away. Food was excellent (as always) as was the service.
Love the renovations! Made to restaurant brighter and more open without losing the feel of the Palm. Our service and food were EXCELLENT!
Ordered a very expensive $99 lobster. It was the scrawniest lobster I’ve ever had, very little meat even my waiter commented on how it was unacceptable for the price. My steak was over cooked and tough. Very disappointed as I looked forward to special occasion meal for months!
The special of salmon with crab stuffing was amazing! Always a great meal at The Palm.
I found the quality of the food was outstanding. The service was impeccable !
As usual perfect choice. I had a client in town and my husband and I took him to dinner. Steaks were cooked perfect. Service was wonderful. Can't wait until the next time.
Food was good, service and ambiance was not. Placed order for our cocktails, and twenty minutes later I asked the waiter, who said he had forgot. Drinks were good, but smaller than expected. 30 minutes after ordering the appetizer, I asked and was told they were out and had forgot to let us know. The tables were too close together, and with cartoon-like caricatures on all the walls it felt cheap to me. The food was delicious, but was overpriced. We opted to go here since we had a show at the Majestic across the street, but I won't be going back under any circumstance unless its free and I have plenty of time to kill.
We were going to see Jay Leno at the Majestic. We got there at 6:30pm and were served and ate by 7:15. Service was great to say the least. The food was spectacular. Will go back for sure.
