The Palm Philadelphia
We knew it was going to be expensive, but what you got for the money was crazy. The small filet came on a plain white plate with no garnish. We went there expecting a special dining experience, but were really disappointed . We thought we were going to a elegant restaurant,, but the room was ugly. There are pilllars thruout and they are covered with hundreds of painted portraits of people., and bad murals.
We are looking for a new steakhouse since Mortons closed. The food here was excellent. The shrimp domino appetizer was very tasty. The caprese salad had good tomatoes( hard to find here in Feb) and nice cheese. The steak and crab cakes were wonderful. The crab cake had no filler.
Our issue was the service. Penny was pleasant but not around a whole lot. Requested oil and vinegar w the salad and it eventually arrived once I asked the busboy for help. Same w the sweet er for my ice tea. Plus the timing between courses was very long.
Foood was good! Wife Ribeye had to be done a couple times. She wanted medium well but it came too done. We enjoyed restaurant but service wasn’t as attentive as we’re used too. Still good place. Wife loved this place!
Always loved going to the Palm but Sunday nite was not good. Took the whole family there for a special birthday dinner and waited 45 minutes for drinks never saw waitress food wasn't good very disappointed. The people there are friendly,it was differently a off nite
This was our first time here and it was wonderful. The table was perfect (we had a comfy booth) and the service was wonderful (Gabriel was our server). Everything was delicious and the portions were huge. We chose here to celebrate Valentine's Day and we were not disappointed. An added bonus was the parking garage next door-we received a discount since we ate at The Palm. That was the cherry on top! We will be back!
Decided to stop by before going to a show, and we really enjoyed our visit. The service was exceptional... really set the tone for the evening. The meals were well prepared, and the atmosphere was very comfortable. We will be visiting again. Thanks!
Very enjoyable meal. Service was good. Slow on presenting bill. Overall a very good dinning experience
Great service from start to finish. Surf and turf was delicious, will certainly return.
Gus makes it the best
First and last time going here the food wasn’t worth it at all. The service was very bad at a 9pm on valentines day. Def not going to go back. I have also left a review on there website too that is more detailed. The meat had no flavor i can do that at my house for less then 60-80 steak per person.
Great service friendly staff
Everything was great, waiter was little slow, but it’s ok, it was a lot of customers inside
Always an amazing experience.
Went to Valentines Day - had reservations for 7pm, got there around 7:15 due to higher than normal traffic in Philly due to the Auto Show. Accommodated no problem (as most of their guests had this issue). Requested a booth, which was accommodated as well - got one next to the bar (no big deal). They could have used some extra waiters on and perhaps kitchen staff. It did take almost 45 minutes from the time salads were finished and taken away, to the main serving was brought out. Food was excellent, zero to complain about. Spent $235 for the two of us, so a little pricey and not a place to go out to for anything other than special occasions - for the Average Joe.
Great food .. enjoyed the atmosphere.. it is a little on the loud side but I enjoy that when out to dinner
Excellent place to eat, we went there for Valentines day dinner and had a very nice time.
I went on Valentine's day. Service was a little slow. We had to send my steak back. I asked for medium well and it was partly rare with blood still oozing out the middle was slightly over medium well and the end was just shoe leather..... I was choking trying to swallow it. We sent it back and the second steak was medium well much better than the first but still tough to chew and had zero flavor. The rest of the meal was excellent. Our server even replaced the cocktail that was accidently spilled. Their cheesecake was the best I have ever had!!! I would go back but I just would never ever order another steak!
Was expecting much better food for the price. Wine selection was on point though.
Friendly Hostess, very attentive and knowledgeable servers, but not intrusive. Good food. For me prices were a little high.
The Palm has always been one of our favorite steak houses! You know that if you like something it will be the same every time you go. We almost always get the filet, first starting with a wonderful lobster bisque. We have had the chicken parm also quite nice. Hash browns & creamed spinach are perfect for the steak. We enjoy the creme brulee. The very best though is the fresh cooked donuts!!! Great to take guests. Service is always perfect. Enjoy!!!
Service was excellent. However it seems they had the B team on for a Sunday night in the kitchen.
Darnell did an excellent job taking care of me. I had a perfect Caesar salad to start. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and I added some excellent crab legs. A perfect meal with great service. Five stars!
For the money we paid I just don’t think it was worth it.
I took my wife and my 4 year old daughter out this past sat (2/8) for a special dinner in the city. We had an amazing time. The food and service were terrific. In particular, Gus at the front and our server, Darnell made my little girl feel like a princess!
This was my first time at the Palm and I had heard many good things. While the food was good, it was overpriced and the presentation of the food was less then par. For the price of the food, I was expecting a better presentation and ambiance to the experience. The service was average, like any other restaurant, nothing spectacular. The coffee was lukewarm when served. Overall it was an okay experience, with average service and very pricey food.
The entire experience was top notch. Service, atmosphere, and quality of food and drinks were all superb. Filet was cooked perfectly. Lobster bisque was delicious. Dessert was decadent. Our drinks were outstanding and our server was knowledgeable and prompt. Our experience checked all the right boxes.
Great meal for my wife’s birthday. The Palm never disappoints and is always our favorite place to go.
The service was outstanding and We actually got one of the club 837 specials! They also have wine specials which are very good too. Very accommodating to any speacial order needs. Definitely recommend the palm!
I’m not sure what happened to this location. For years it was our favorite. Last night was woefully bad. The server was uninterested and extremely slow (on a Monday with 3-4 tables occupied). The steaks ordered medium rare were medium to medium well. My guests had to slather on A1 to make them edible. Wine by the glass was warm. When asked if they could open a fresh bottle the response was that all of the bottles are stored in the same area. All are warm. For $600 I would expect more. Much more. Sadly this is probably the last time we visit Palm Philly.
Hi Jonathan, thank you for taking the time to write this review. Your feedback is what helps us get better as a restaurant. I'm sorry to hear that you dinner with us was anything less than great. I will look into moving the wines by the glass so that they are kept at a cooler temperature as I too prefer a slightly chilled glass. I hope you will join us again as I am confident we can do much better for you. Please feel free to contact me directly to set up the reservation. -Dominick Sassone
My wife and I eat at the Palm 2 to 3 times a year, thus we would not be considered regulars, but are happy, repeat customers. In each of our visits including the last one we found the waitstaff to be friendly and helpful. The meal is nicely paced. The decor is pleasant and the noise level allows for easy conversation. Since my wife does not eat beef, I like the fact that the menu is more extensive than the typical steak house with a number of fish, vegetarian and classic Italian choices. The wine list is very nice and even has a few half bottles. I started with an excellent Caesar salad while my wife had the lobster bisque. The grass fed filet mignon with truffle butter special was very nice. My wife enjoyed her grilled Salmon -- she said it was among the best she has eaten. We shared the Key Lime pie dessert. It was a very nice meal.
Thank you for such a great review! We are thrilled that you and your wife enjoyed your evening with us. We try to keep everyone in mind when creating our menus to make them appealing not only to steak eaters but all those looking for a tasty meal. We hope to see you again very soon! -Dominick
Service and food were excellent. We really enjoyed dinner.
Old school steak house. Steady as a rock. Staff are all highly trained and know their business. My lamb was done to perfection. My husband's steak was buttery goodness. Waiter was extremely pleasant, sincere. They appreciate their regulars and treat new folks like royalty. No complaints.
Thanks for writing such a great review we really appreciate it! Can't wait to have you and your husband back to try some of our other delicious menu items. Hopefully you are a "regular" now as well!!! -Dominick
Restaurant not busy surprised
Always the best dining experience in Philly. The staff and food are amazing
Thank you so much for the great review and the 5 stars! We strive to be the best! -Dominick
I have had many good experiences at The Palm, but my Sunday night visit was not one of them. The start was trying to make the reservation. I called after 1 as the message on the phone stated and no one answered. I called again and still no answer. I went on Open Table (my wife's account) and it gave me limited options early that didn't work. Then I went to the Palm website and it redirected me to Open Table with many options. So, I booked but we got no Open Table credit for our reservation. No issues at arrival and we were seated in a nice booth. Our waiter was a little aloof. He brought my appetizer and a couple minutes later came to ask if all was OK because I wasn't eating. I told him I was waiting for my wife's soup to come. He forgot to put it in and then brought out the wrong soup. He corrected it and said we would not be charged for the soup. That was good, because it was not a very good French Onion soup. You could tell it was rushed to get it out of the kitchen. All the rest of the meal was fine. As we left, I asked to get my parking ticket validated, which was done. But the kiosk did not register it and the $32 parking fee was rather steep. Sunday night with what I'd call the "B" team working is not the best night to get the real Palm experience. We'll be back, but highly unlikely on Sunday night when we often go out for dinner.
Not satisfied, highly doubt going back. Reservation set for a booth by the window. Waited 15-20 minutes when eventually sat at a table. After being seated the booth became available and they didn’t ask of we’d like to move. The server was decent but when we ordered our meals, he came back 10 MINUTES later to tell me that my second choice of meat wasn’t available either. Original choice of meat unavailable. So the wait for the food was much longer. The filet mignon was ok, definitely had better at that price. The crab cake were not that great either.
Our waiter Gabriel was amazing! We enjoyed the food and side room as we requested so it would be not as noisy. Thank you!
I'm not sure if I would recommend this restaurant to someone. The food was good, not great. I am no chef, but cook for my family every night and believe that this food didnt taste any better than what I make at home. For the prices you pay, I was expecting an amazing dinner, and what I got was just regular. Everything was cooked well. Service was good, as with a lot of places. Ambiance was nice and we were lucky enough to have a comfy booth seat, where we were in our own little space. I wont go back, as there was nothing special that draws me back for the amount of money one pays for the food. For someone who isn't used to a home cooked meal on a regular basis, they may find this place delicious. Just know, you can get the same thing for half the price somewhere else.
