The Palm Los Angeles Ratings and Reviews
The Palm is a great restaurant in downtown LA, very close to LA Live and the Staples Center. The steaks are excellent and service very attentive and prompt. The decor is causal and very interesting with the faces of the many people that have dined there. It can be a bit noisy when all tables are occupied but it has an energetic vibe.
Dinner was awesome, I had the 24 ounce Bone-In Rib Eye cooked perfectly the way I ordered it .. Blue ( very rare ) and a delicious cab suggested by our server. We also had the hash browns, creamed spinach and mushrooms all were great. I hadn’t been to the Palm in years but will definitely be back soon before a Kings game.
We asked to be seated at a booth in the bar. We were told that there were no reservations needed (we had one), so we asked for the open booth in the bar. We were then told that someone had called in to hold table?
When I questioned the situation, as made absolutely no sense, the matre de was extremely rude and told me “don’t put words in my mouth”. Not happy with exchange.
This was my first time to eat at The Palm and all of my expectations were exceeded. The menu offered many choice for all palates. I ordered a 9 oz Filet that was cooked to perfection. It was fork tender and flavorful. The side were all great, especially the Au-gratin Potatoes. The service was on point all night and never missed a beat. Can't wait to go back.
We are a party of 14 on Christmas Day, this was our first time in this location , we have tried the one by Beverly Hills . But glad we did this location, the food was great, the ambience is nice and fit for a special occasion, service may not be as smooth, but it was not an issue, given we are a big group. Overall, was quite impress with the food, everything was delish . And will surely comback to this location in downtown Los Angeles .
Candidly - our experience was just OK. We arrived for an early dinner before a Laker game so the restaurant was empty - except they jammed us into a section right on top of other tables being used by other customers - that is just lazy seating. It would have been better to spread everyone out a bit. My wife's Chilean Sea Bass was cold which had to be sent back and my fillet was only at room temperature. The overall level of service was just OK - I would suggest the staff have dinner at Mastro's and see how it is done. The little touches they incorporate into their program makes the experience that much better. At the prices The Palm charges I expected an elevated experience but left disappointed.
Beautiful venue, good food and service. However, it is too noisy and loud to recommend for business lunches. I had to speak loudly across the table so my work colleague could hear me.
Additionally, the undisclosed charge for a glass of water was shocking. Too expensive and ridiculous to be charged for plain water.
Could barely hear each other. Service was great. The young man tending to us was lovely. BUT!......
Steak was grisly and cold. The lobster was over cooked. Checked off this experience from our bucket lists. It’s too bad we have no desire to go again. Cuz.... yuck.
After a bit of confusion as to where the valet parking was versus the entrance to the Palms, we were received warmly. The steaks, Caesar salad were perfect. The service/attentiveness was excellent. The only part of the evening that I did not feel fit was the charge for the valet parking.
Have eaten here many times & been happy with the food.
This time the food was fair at best.
The four LB lobster was at best 2lb
The porterhouse for two was very tough- cooked medium
The New York was also tough & lack flavor
The 1/2 & 1/2 was as always
Tough night at the DTLA Palm
Not very impressive; we expected more. Everything was OK; certainly not outstanding.
Twice, Spouse had to battle to keep plate with food so it could be finished - appetizer plate and main dish! This should never happen!!
Malaty (server) was pleasant but check was not accurate.
The Palm is great restaurant for good food and fun before a game at Staples or a concert at LA Live. It is expensive so be prepared to spend at least $100/head if you are going to do it right. I highly recommend the Palm for a convenient and fun time before the game/concert.
