The Palm Houston Ratings and Reviews
Great food, great service and a great time. We had the calamari and the clams casino to start. Both were fabulous. Then everyone had lobsters for their entree. I recommend going for the 4 lb lobster. Those seemed to have the best claws, the 3lb claws were a bit small. We also all shared a ribeye and the hash browns and spinach. Delicious! We had not been to the Palm since they renovated and so glad we did. We will definitely be coming back.
We went on Christmas night which is always a tough night to go anywhere with the limited Options that are available. This night showed Why the Palm Is so far and above over all of its competition for steak houses in Houston. Though there were some menu items that were not available The food was excellent well presented and served professionally and competently. Everything ordered was cooked to perfection maintaining the same consistent quality that has long become a trademark of the palm.
Our experience at the Palm was so bad that I would give zero stars if I could. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have had since moving to Houston four years ago. We had a reservation for dinner on Christmas day. They left a message for us the day before to confirm the reservation and I called back the next day, several hours before our reservation time. However, when we arrived, the hostess told us that they hadn't held a table for us; they had basically cancelled our reservation because she said they had left us three messages to confirm the reservation and we never called back. Our phone showed one call from them, and I did call back! We told her this but she was very rude and had quite an attitude and said that they still didn't have a table for us but that they'd try to seat us shortly. The restaurant wasn't full; we saw several tables open. We waited for awhile but no table and my husband went to ask her how much longer and she got very angry and belligerent and said that if he was going to complain that they wouldn't have a table for us at all and that we could leave if we wanted! She was quite rude and unprofessional and we would've left except we would've had a hard time finding another restaurant on at 7 pm on Christmas day. Eventually she seated us in an almost empty back room. Although our reservation was only for 7:00 and we were on time many of the items on the menu were no longer available by the time we were seated. The waiter was kind but the menu choices were limited and the food we got was OK but hardly worth the price tag. We won't be returning to the Palm.
Houston location - This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a steakhouse. On Christmas Day, after sitting down and ordering (45 minutes after being seated) we were informed that they were out of all steaks except the New York strip. Nothing else was available at a steakhouse at 6:30pm after having a reservation for a month. Asked to see a manager and nobody came to talk to us. Paid for our drinks and left! Worst experience and will never eat at any Palm location again
We go to The Palm every Christmas evening - it is our tradition. While our meal was good, it was probably the worst meal we have had there. At 6pm that night, the restaurant was out of at least 4-5 entrée options. We ordered a 4lb stuffed lobster which was delicious. My steak was cooked correctly but was very dry as it had been sitting up in the window under heat lamps for some time (I know this because our server told us our food was up ready for her to bring to us, and it didn't come out till approx. 10 minutes later). Sides were ok - we had asparagus and au grating potatoes. The restaurant was extremely loud and took a while to get our drinks and food. Our service by the waitstaff was overall though very good.
I normally don’t review but i made it my business to make sure i did this times. Last year, i had the worst dine in experience at Ruth’s Chris in Houston, Texas. I was so nervous about doing a dinner this year because of that. My cousin recommended Palm Restaurant and i am so happy that i decided to have my dinner there. Adrian, the assistant general manager, made my birthday very special! I really appreciate his attentiveness and making sure we were treated with the utmost respect. Thank you so much and this is a birthday i will never forget. The food wAs awesome as well.
This was the worst Experience we ever had at the Palm. The menu was changed and the steak we wanted to order is no longer available. Our waiter neglected to take our bar order for 30 minutes. We never got bread. We made a secondary choice for prime rib and 30 minutes after we placed our order we were told they only had 2. Of the 3 we ordered. We put in another order and the food was mediocre. It will be a very long time if ever we go back to the Palm.
It was exceptionally bad
Over 30+ years, we have not been disappointed. Lobsters exceed expectations. Steaks and chops not far behind. Cocktails show a masterful hand with shaker. Four of us had dinner last Sat. Night—2 birthdays. Food and service top notch. One of our “ go to” places for special food and service. I use a wheel chair and walker. Accommodations attentive and considerate.
I thought my NY Strip was a little chewy but the flavor was wonderful. The filet my wife had was excellent. Sides and dessert were great too. I only gave 4 stars because I had been told it was the best steak in Houston, and I didn’t find it better than the place across the street.
Thanksgiving prix-fix turkey dinner. Reasonably priced but just so-so. Lobster bisque promised pieces of lobster meat but just a thimble sized portion. Turkey was okay, dressing okay, mushrooms excellent. Cheesecake on the dry side. Service good despite getting our order mixed up, was fixed quickly. I have been eating here for more than 30 years and have always enjoyed it. Next year I’ll order a steak.
As our house was still recovering from Hurricane Harvey flooding , the fixed price special Thanksgiving Menu seemed like a good idea, $56 for adults, $24 for children. The lobster bisque, course one, was tasty but contained less than 1/4 teaspoon lobster, portioned out on the bowl prior to the waiter adding the liquid tableside. Course two, the turkey, gravy, one flat ice cream scoop of dressing and sweet potato mash, plus 1/4 cup of cranberry sauce. All food plated together Luby's Cafeteria style. My plated food was the same as my 3 children and husband. Course three, pumpkin pie slice. Our waiter, friendly enough, disappeared after first 15 minutes. never saw him again. I walk over to another waiter in dining room, begged for service. No, the restaurant was not crowded. I did call the restaurant several hours later, spoke to manager who would "investigate this", 24 hours still no call back. Well, atleast the cocktail was good, $288.00 for food including tips to two waiters.
A perfect location to impress business clients and friends with great food and excellent service. Our meals were wonderful as always. The lobster was especially outstanding and with our waiter performing all the hard work on cracking the shell eating was made simple!
Server and staff efficient and courteous without being overbearing. Leisurely dinner and tasty. Enjoyed calamari, kale salad, crab cakes, bacon appetizers. All very fresh and tasty. We all had filet mignon which was great. Deserts of carrot cake, cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake and donuts. Nice. Had a great Malbec with dinner.
One filet was not prepared as requested but management made it right.
Best part of evening was the service. Loved the atmosphere.
