The Palm Denver Ratings and Reviews
I have eaten At the Palm in Denver many times. I have also eaten at Palm restaurants in several other cities and I may be one of the few who dined there this week, who actually dined regularly at the original Palm upstairs on 1st avenue in New York with my parents more than 50 years ago. Usually the experience is first rate. This time not quite up to expectations. The room is fine and service was excellent if a bit intrusive ( too many how are you enjoying your food.). The food was not up to par. I had a caprese type salad to start that was ok but the tomatoes were tough. The main course I chose is a long term favorite, veal Parmesan with spaghetti. The veal was tough, poorly seasoned and not well prepared. If there was any coating I couldn’t find it. The pasta was over cooked and sodden. I could take you to ten Italian restaurants in Denver where this classic dish would have been much better at half the price. The pasta was just unacceptable. I didn’t eat it. Others had better dishes but none was outstanding. Dessert was key lime pie that just seemed uninspired. Overly sweet and with a heavy crust. A cappuccino was mediocre.
Too bad. Maybe this was an off night. We didn’t order steak or lobster they are famous for, so I can’t tell how they are handling those dishes now. Those are usually great classics for them. But the Italian menu has always been very good at Palm restaurants given their heritage. This time it didn’t fly.
The location is good and the ambiance fine but it was an expensively priced mediocre meal. They need some work.
We have eaten at the Palm in Denver on many occasions. We have made it a family tradition for the many years to go there on New Years Eve. There are usually 8-12 of us. This year it was just my wife and me. We have reservations for 8:00 and were seated at about 8:30. The service was horrible. We set for more than 15 minutes before we were given menus and had out drink order taken. The appetizers came out late with our salads. This took another 30 minutes. Our entrees came 30 minutes later. Due to the poor service and other commitments we passed up ordering desert at 10:30 pm. Hope this is just a rare occasion and not a new trend in service.
I have been to several Palm restaurants in the country and this location was probably the most casual I had ever been to. It was New Year's Eve and our first time to the Denver location. the hostess was wearing a black dress with black flip flops. Hostesses don't even wear flip flops at Outback. There were customers in sports apparel, which I suppose could be understood because there was a football game earlier that day. But really, I didn't see a dress code enforced here at all here like in other Palm restaurants.
I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time. I made a reservation for NYE. My wife and I both ordered steaks medium-plus, both were delivered rare. She sent hers back, I decided not to because I didn't want to deal with it. When they brought her steak back out it was medium-rare so she had to send it back again. When they brought it back the second time it was dry and almost looked microwaved. A manager offered to bring her a new steak cooked medium-well. When the new steak arrived it was medium-rare and had to be sent back once again. The second time the steak was cooked correctly. By this time I was finished with my meal and sat there while she ate her steak alone. I was very disappointed with this experience.
We went on New Years Eve and the place was packed. The service was impeccable none the less. We ordered the special “dinner for two” which included soup or salad, a shared portion of steak and lobster, a side, and a dessert. I think the food at Shannahan’s is more flavorful, although comparable. We had a great time!
Christmas Dinner at the Palm. Great sense of hospitality and the team makes you feel cared for. Steaks and seafood selections are top notch and we found some great gems on the wine list. Prices are appropriate for steakhouse genre but the connection to the team will make you want to come back.
I was really surprised at the quality of the food for the cost. The $50.00 steaks were ok. Not mouth-watering. The scalloped potatoes were very greasy as was the Wedge salad. The service was impeccable but I would not go back for just that. It was a disappointment for what we paid for.
My husband and I and my two boys dined at The Palm in Denver on Christmas Eve.
We ordered Steaks and they were so tuff very hard to chew. They forgot to put the order in for one of my boys and it finally came out when we were finished eating.
We were very disappointed because we really wanted a good meal and enjoy the evening.
we were not celebrating a special occasion although we were entertaining friends from Illinois. We were disappointed that they were out of lobster, lamb chops and a couple of appetizers. We were there on a Sunday night during the Christmas season.....Sunday night dining should not be different than Saturday night as far as the food selections.
Being San Antonio regulars, we decided to try the Denver Palm while in town. Food was cooked to perfection and proper temp. Donald, our server, catered to the children with their orders. Being we had to be some other place to be an hour after arrival, Donald ordered our meal ahead, making sure we got out in time so as not to be late. I would definitely return and recommend the restaurant to others.
Average food that was overpriced, but it was quick and in the Westin Hotel where our conference was. The seafood enchilada, which was the special, was terribly fishy tasting. Never get the special, even at the Westin. Our waiter was darling, but language barrier meant he brought me soup and dessert I mentioned or asked about, but didn't order. $85.00 late for lunch for two of us... NOT IMPRESSED!
The food was absolutely amazing. I will say that if you are planning on going that you have more than plenty of time to stay however. Our reservation was for 4:30 - we didn't get out of the restaurant until 6:30. There was a large gap between the appetizer and main course (30-45 minutes) and when my soda was empty not a single person asked if I needed/wanted another. The server was only there to take our order and take the check and never came back in between that time span of 2 hours.
That all being said, my water was at least never empty and the food was phenomenal. I still would suggest anyone to go to this restaurant with no hesitation.
Excellent Thanksgiving Day dinner! I look forward to The Palm every Thanksgiving because it is so good. The only thing i don’t like is the remodel. We’ve been coming for years and i guess last year they remodeled. It’s still lovely but NOISY. I liked the coziness of the previous restaurant, it’s much more difficult to have a conversation now. But the food and service still good.
My husband and I frequent the Palm almost on a daily basis. Cathy Cooney Green makes everyone feel welcome and special. She is the best! She also has assembled a top notch staff from the bartenders, Michael, Chad, Al and Harmony to the servers and of course Chef Marco and Tom. We had a business meeting at lunch with a friend. Cathy and everyone greeted us with warmth and treated us incredibly well, the food was delicious and Chad's service was exemplary. I will be there again tomorrow! 👍😀
