The Palm Denver Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I frequent the Palm almost on a daily basis. Cathy Cooney Green makes everyone feel welcome and special. She is the best! She also has assembled a top notch staff from the bartenders, Michael, Chad, Al and Harmony to the servers and of course Chef Marco and Tom. We had a business meeting at lunch with a friend. Cathy and everyone greeted us with warmth and treated us incredibly well, the food was delicious and Chad's service was exemplary. I will be there again tomorrow! 👍😀
I go to The Palm on a regular basis and it is usually excellent. Unfortunately, the server we had was horrible, brisk and seemed disinterested in us. In addition, she brought the wrong meal but refused to acknowledge or replace the error. This won't stop me from enjoyhing The Palm in the future, but I'll make sure I have a server who know what she is doing.
We were very excited for our first visit to this restaurant but left a little disappointed. The manager was very accommodating when we didn't like the table he selected for us upon arrival and let us sit in a booth in the bar. They food was pretty good - not great. Except for the shrimp cocktail - that was delicious! Our server was very kind and attentive as was her server assistant. It took a really, really long time to get our food. We had the Wagyu Rib Eye (cooked Medium) and a whole lobster with a few sides. The staff kept saying they were just very busy. Overall, I would say it was good but I would expect excellent for the price. The manager did take care of a glass of wine (and the wine was very delicious!) for me since we had to wait so long and they did offer complimentary champagne for my boyfriend and I since it was his birthday. Overall, the wine list is very impressive, servers very professionally and kind, food was good and the manager on duty that night (a gentleman) was also very responsive and seemed to genuinely care about our experience. Not bad - just not the experience we expected.
Great lunch, loved the price. Disappointed in server not telling us the soup we ordered was not included in the special (different soup) and was at an additional costs. Surprised when I got the bill. Would have appreciated knowing before, that way I would have had the option to order or not. Also, was celebrating a re-licensing for my company and don't know why I was asked or let reservation know (nothing special was done on our behalf).
As a New Yorker, I have been eating at the original Palm Restaurant and at least 10 of its brand spread out now around the country for more than 40 years. I have never had a bad serving of anything from shrimp cocktail and clams oreganata to chopped tomatoes and onions (with crumbles, of course) or the newer kale salad and the NY Steak and various veal dishes and, of course, the half-and-half.
I have now eaten at the Palm Denver 6-10 times over the last many years and it is a s good as NY.
Besides, the dinner I ate there, they, also, prepared a take home meal for my wife and son in California which I took on the plane.
I'm not foodie. I'm not into "paying for atmosphere". I'm not into waitstaff that hover and smother. What I am into is really good food. We celebrated our 25th anniversary with The Palm and aside from marrying my wife, it was the best decision made in 25 years. They were absolutely ON POINT!!!! EVERYTHING was beyond exceptional. Our waiter Scott B and he absolutely added to the X factor that everyone secretly longs for in waitstaff. His recommendations were spot on, he was attentive without being intrusive, and made sure we knew that our visit to his restaurant was special and significant. To cap it off, we walked away stuffed to the gills not just with and incredible meal but a greater admiration for how The Palm and all of their wonderful staff treat their guests.
Had one of the worst seats in the house right outside of the bar and kitchen so it was noisy and had staff behind our booth most of our meal. We shouldn't have let them seat us there so it's partly on me.
We let them know it was our anniversary when we made the reservation via open table but they never mentioned it. However our waiter did a good job and made a nice presentation of our lobster. Food was good as always.
The Palm has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the past and last year they
renovated the downtown location. The space looks great and the service is really good.
However, the menu leaves something to be desired. They have not taken note of the smaller serving sizes that people are looking for these days (the days of wanting to taking home leftovers is gone) and their menu lacks the flexibility to create smaller and less expensive meals. The meal was certainly acceptable but I think they are out of touch with the current food trends
for smaller entrees or some combined smaller entrees with side so you have enough
money left to come back a second time....
We had the bone in prime rib, two martini's and a lovely bottle of wine. It was all done beautifully and the prime rib was excellent. The best we have had in a long time. Our server was great, not intrusive but always there when we needed her. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
We were rather disappointed in our meal at The Palm. The Cesar salad tasted like it had been made hours before. The lettuce was soggy and drenched. We told the waiter and he said he would take them off the bill, which he didn't. My filet was very undercooked. I requested a warm red center. The middle of my filet was ice cold and rare. The fried asparagus (which was highly recommended by the waiter) tasted like something you you get at a state fair. The other sides were mediocre. Our bill was $1,200 and we definitely did not have food that reflected that price. We quickly realized why every other steak house in the Denver area was full and The Palm was empty.
I love the Palm. I eat in the one in Denver and NYC all the time. The experience is always top notch. This time I brought my 9 yr old grand daugter to talk about some problems she was having with bullying. The waitress made her feel very special. Great experience all around.
Overall food was fantastic. The restaurant really needs to work on table service. It took them 15 minutes to attend our table once we sat and then another 15 minutes just to get waters. The bread they serve prior to our meal came out after our apps and right before the meal. For the price of food the service should be much better.
We told the hostess we were celebrating a birthday. Our waiter did nothing. We saw waiters singing to three other diners around us.
We requested one of four empty booths around us and were told all were reserved.
Spoke to the manager who told us the booths were for their frequent diners or members of the 837 club who get their pictures on the wall. Wow. We didn't know you had to join a club to be treated well. One booth remained open until after we left. We were seated in the walkway to the bar. My chair was bumped many times by wait staff. Our waiter never told us about any specials. Bread plate removed while still had bread on it. Table was being cleared while one guest was still eating. Not enough room on table for sides. Had to ask for dessert menus. Basically felt our waiter was trying to avoid us especially when he brought the check and placed it between the two women and walked away without a word.
We have dined at the Palm in Las Vegas, Chicago and New York, and we were embarrassed to take our out of state guests to your restaurant for a special celebration.
The only redeeming thing was your food.
I had a 2 pound lobster out of the shell and my husband had a 28 ounce prime rib. I helped him with the prime rib which was delicious because I got very little lobster from a two pounder. Also the claw did not even taste good and was dried out. The asparagus was tasteless as my side dish and the salad was just OK. This restaurant is located in a Westin Hotel and the lobby was very nondescript.
