The Palm Denver Ratings and Reviews
Average food that was overpriced, but it was quick and in the Westin Hotel where our conference was. The seafood enchilada, which was the special, was terribly fishy tasting. Never get the special, even at the Westin. Our waiter was darling, but language barrier meant he brought me soup and dessert I mentioned or asked about, but didn't order. $85.00 late for lunch for two of us... NOT IMPRESSED!
The food was absolutely amazing. I will say that if you are planning on going that you have more than plenty of time to stay however. Our reservation was for 4:30 - we didn't get out of the restaurant until 6:30. There was a large gap between the appetizer and main course (30-45 minutes) and when my soda was empty not a single person asked if I needed/wanted another. The server was only there to take our order and take the check and never came back in between that time span of 2 hours.
That all being said, my water was at least never empty and the food was phenomenal. I still would suggest anyone to go to this restaurant with no hesitation.
Excellent Thanksgiving Day dinner! I look forward to The Palm every Thanksgiving because it is so good. The only thing i don’t like is the remodel. We’ve been coming for years and i guess last year they remodeled. It’s still lovely but NOISY. I liked the coziness of the previous restaurant, it’s much more difficult to have a conversation now. But the food and service still good.
My husband and I frequent the Palm almost on a daily basis. Cathy Cooney Green makes everyone feel welcome and special. She is the best! She also has assembled a top notch staff from the bartenders, Michael, Chad, Al and Harmony to the servers and of course Chef Marco and Tom. We had a business meeting at lunch with a friend. Cathy and everyone greeted us with warmth and treated us incredibly well, the food was delicious and Chad's service was exemplary. I will be there again tomorrow! 👍😀
I go to The Palm on a regular basis and it is usually excellent. Unfortunately, the server we had was horrible, brisk and seemed disinterested in us. In addition, she brought the wrong meal but refused to acknowledge or replace the error. This won't stop me from enjoyhing The Palm in the future, but I'll make sure I have a server who know what she is doing.
We were very excited for our first visit to this restaurant but left a little disappointed. The manager was very accommodating when we didn't like the table he selected for us upon arrival and let us sit in a booth in the bar. They food was pretty good - not great. Except for the shrimp cocktail - that was delicious! Our server was very kind and attentive as was her server assistant. It took a really, really long time to get our food. We had the Wagyu Rib Eye (cooked Medium) and a whole lobster with a few sides. The staff kept saying they were just very busy. Overall, I would say it was good but I would expect excellent for the price. The manager did take care of a glass of wine (and the wine was very delicious!) for me since we had to wait so long and they did offer complimentary champagne for my boyfriend and I since it was his birthday. Overall, the wine list is very impressive, servers very professionally and kind, food was good and the manager on duty that night (a gentleman) was also very responsive and seemed to genuinely care about our experience. Not bad - just not the experience we expected.
Great lunch, loved the price. Disappointed in server not telling us the soup we ordered was not included in the special (different soup) and was at an additional costs. Surprised when I got the bill. Would have appreciated knowing before, that way I would have had the option to order or not. Also, was celebrating a re-licensing for my company and don't know why I was asked or let reservation know (nothing special was done on our behalf).
As a New Yorker, I have been eating at the original Palm Restaurant and at least 10 of its brand spread out now around the country for more than 40 years. I have never had a bad serving of anything from shrimp cocktail and clams oreganata to chopped tomatoes and onions (with crumbles, of course) or the newer kale salad and the NY Steak and various veal dishes and, of course, the half-and-half.
I have now eaten at the Palm Denver 6-10 times over the last many years and it is a s good as NY.
Besides, the dinner I ate there, they, also, prepared a take home meal for my wife and son in California which I took on the plane.
I'm not foodie. I'm not into "paying for atmosphere". I'm not into waitstaff that hover and smother. What I am into is really good food. We celebrated our 25th anniversary with The Palm and aside from marrying my wife, it was the best decision made in 25 years. They were absolutely ON POINT!!!! EVERYTHING was beyond exceptional. Our waiter Scott B and he absolutely added to the X factor that everyone secretly longs for in waitstaff. His recommendations were spot on, he was attentive without being intrusive, and made sure we knew that our visit to his restaurant was special and significant. To cap it off, we walked away stuffed to the gills not just with and incredible meal but a greater admiration for how The Palm and all of their wonderful staff treat their guests.
Had one of the worst seats in the house right outside of the bar and kitchen so it was noisy and had staff behind our booth most of our meal. We shouldn't have let them seat us there so it's partly on me.
We let them know it was our anniversary when we made the reservation via open table but they never mentioned it. However our waiter did a good job and made a nice presentation of our lobster. Food was good as always.
The Palm has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the past and last year they
renovated the downtown location. The space looks great and the service is really good.
However, the menu leaves something to be desired. They have not taken note of the smaller serving sizes that people are looking for these days (the days of wanting to taking home leftovers is gone) and their menu lacks the flexibility to create smaller and less expensive meals. The meal was certainly acceptable but I think they are out of touch with the current food trends
for smaller entrees or some combined smaller entrees with side so you have enough
money left to come back a second time....
We had the bone in prime rib, two martini's and a lovely bottle of wine. It was all done beautifully and the prime rib was excellent. The best we have had in a long time. Our server was great, not intrusive but always there when we needed her. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
We were rather disappointed in our meal at The Palm. The Cesar salad tasted like it had been made hours before. The lettuce was soggy and drenched. We told the waiter and he said he would take them off the bill, which he didn't. My filet was very undercooked. I requested a warm red center. The middle of my filet was ice cold and rare. The fried asparagus (which was highly recommended by the waiter) tasted like something you you get at a state fair. The other sides were mediocre. Our bill was $1,200 and we definitely did not have food that reflected that price. We quickly realized why every other steak house in the Denver area was full and The Palm was empty.
