Really classy, and romantic experience, excellent for celebrating our anniversary.
The afternoon tea idea is great. The execution was mediocre. The service was slow and the food was just okay. It appears that the food items are mass prepared in the morning and plated throughout the day. Too expensive for what you get.
We came to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. The tea and food was amazing. Our server was fabulous. He went out of his way to make us feel special - and they brought my daughter a special treat for her birthday as well. It was an excellent experience and can’t wait to go again! The lemon curd was to die for!
What a special day and experience. Took a weekend trip with my daughter, sister and nieces to Chicago and went to The Drake hotel for afternoon tea at Palm Court.. Such a classy, nostalgic place with so many beautiful details. We loved trying the different teas and the mini sandwiches and deserts were very satisfying. Our waiter Saed was so friendly and accommodating . We all loved it and highly recommend. My niece said it was the best day ever !
Really fun, classy experience! $45 per person, very attentive and they will refill the food trays once if you’d like- a very decent deal for a special day .
Absolutely loved it. We took the kids and they really enjoyed themselves as well! The venue is visually stunning, our server was lovely. He was so kind and thoughtful of the entire table and the kids. Of course this was a special occasion, so we knew this would be an expensive outing. If you live in the city you must try this at least once.
While vacationing in Chicago we always enjoy tea at The Drake! This visit did not disappoint! The food was delicious and the harpist provided a lovely ambiance. Our waiter graciously accommodated my husband’s dairy allergy by providing dairy free food, along with a delicious fruit plate shared by the entire party. Our food tower was replenished with additional sandwiches and pastries each time it was close to empty. To top it off, our waiter boxed all of the leftovers for us to enjoy later. It was a most enjoyable lunch and we look forward to visiting again on our next weekend in Chicago!
Perfect setting for Valentine’s day!
Host was a bit rude, however happy with the overall experience.
Great service and beautiful venue! If you've never done high tea before, this is a great place to start.
This is the perfect ladies spot! It is beautiful, the tea and food is great. I have been multiple times. Elegant and fun!
Poor food. Service fair. Overall experience disappointing.
Went for a special birthday- they brought out a chocolate dessert and the harpist played happy birthday. It was a nice unexpected surprise.
There was a group of 6 of us ladies that attended this reservation. I have a food allergy to shellfish and our server Azmir took note of that and brought a seperate plate with the crab on it so nothing else would touch. I truly appreciated that! All of the food was delicious and the tea ( tropical garden) I had was amazing! My only complaint which isn’t a big deal is that the tea pots kept clogging and when we would pour the tea would spill down the bottom of the pot. One of the other servers brought us a straw to push inside to unclog and that helped a lot, so be aware that may happen. Lovely experience and will be returning!!
Overall really positive experience. Great ambiance and definitely a good place to take parents/in-laws. The host was kind of pushy and not very polite. But the doorman/valet was really nice. Server seemed a little bit overwhelmed because he probably had two big of a section, but he met all expectations.
Absolutely lovely afternoon tea. Always a pleasure.
My daughter and I enjoyed afternoon tea at the Palm Court at the Drake Hotel in Chicago. Service was outstanding, they were constantly checking in and refilling the teapots. The food with the tea service is finger food and if you ask, they will bring you more of the sandwiches and bread items. We didn't know to ask, but the server offered. If you get there early, you may get to sit right by the fountain, which is fantastic to look at during your teatime. There is a harpist there and it was so fun that she played Happy Birthday when they brought out a treat to the table next to ours. It's funny to say this, but make sure you check out the women's powder room, it's lovely as well. This afternoon tea is definitely something to experience at least once if you haven't already.
Noisy, nice menu,
We had a ladies trip to the Palm Court for afternoon tea. It was a beautiful venue but fairly noisy. The food and tea were scrumptious. The server was very good but you could tell he was super busy. It seemed like he was too rushed to be a little more patient.
Overall it was a good experience and we will return.
We go to high tea here a lot and usually love it. Upon arrival, asked for one of two specific EMPTY tables and was assured we could have it. Then the hostess, who made that promise, promptly seated two other parties while we waited. As a result we were seated in precisely the kind of seats that proves difficult for one member of our party to manage. Very disappointing.
Sad to say that The Palm Court has seen better days. The once beautiful Drake Hotel needs a major overhaul. So sad to see this historic institution be in such disrepair.
Overall, this place was good. We came for afternoon tea, and the place was pretty busy. There were 4 of us, and we were seated at a table where one side was a couch and the other side had 2 chairs. I thought the setup was very uncomfortable, as the 2 people sitting in the chairs had their knees hitting the table and were awkwardly crammed in there, whereas the 2 on the couch were slouchy and at a whole different level than the other people. It makes for a weird talking dynamic when 2 people are sitting higher than you.
Otherwise, the food was great. I wish they would have come around more and let us switch up our teas. Also, it was incredibly warm in the room, but that could be because Chicago was having a warm spell.
Celebrated a birthday - and the experience was wonderful. Beautiful space, great service, good food, and the harpist was fantastic. Would absolutely come for afternoon tea again.
We went to the palm court for afternoon tea to celebrate my mom and aunt’s birthdays. It was a very nice time. The tea was excellent and the finger foods served are all great! The dining area is beautiful and very comfortable. The only negative I had was the price. I feel like 45 a person is a little steep for tea and finger foods. But it was a great experience and I would recommend everyone to try it once or for special occasions!
Reservations are a must, but the prix-fixe menu is a great value for two. It is quiet and cozy enough to enjoy the company of the other person and the high tea food selection is solid. A definite date recommendation.
Afternoon tea was wonderful. Request to sit on the sofa. It is very comfortable. The ambiance is beautiful with the fountain in the middle and a harpist playing soft music in the background. It is a place you want to go to hangout and unwind. The waiters were very attentive. Our tea pots never went empty and water glasses always filled. My favorite was the scone with the strawberry jam, lemon curd and clotted cream. The finger sandwiches were all fresh. If there specific items you really enjoyed, the waiter brought out more of those items. I requested more beef and asparagus rolls, fresh cucumber sandwiches, crab tartlets and chicken sandwiches and macarons. My cousins and I had such a great time and ended up spending three hours enjoying every minute. We will definitely return! It is my favorite place to enjoy afternoon tea.
Great experience for afternoon tea with my family. Lovely tea selection and attentive service. Definitely recommend!
This was a delicious meal that I had been anticipating for some time. I know I will be going again. It is a $45 per person plating for lunch, but you can get a second plate of sandwiches/pastries free of charge. The sandwiches are beautiful, delicate and enchantingly savory, while the pastries are mellow and lightly sweet. Their tea selection was decent, but possibly not as vast as I had anticipated. They do serve very fine tea, and the service was exceptional. They have a live harpist regularly, but check the hours on their website. We were seated right beside the harp so it was a bit noisier with an already echo-y room filled with chatter, which was probably the most off-putting. However, the music was delightful in of itself. It was an amazing afternoon we will not forget!
we arrived 5 min before our scheduled time we booked online and I was absolutely shocked to see a long one hour line to be seated for visitors like me who had made their reservation . I had made other plans after my Afternoon Tea and I wanted to be on my schedule . It was my birthday celebration .
The host was very nice and professional to handle an angry crowd.
