We were celebrating a friend’s 80th birthday. We had a wonderful time. The food was delicious, the ambience was lovely, the server was very pleasant. It was a beautiful experience and our friend enjoyed her birthday celebration
What makes Palm Court special is the beautiful setting: the room is opulent and almost fairytale-like. If you can, request to be seated right beside the fountain. We enjoyed the harpist playing during the afternoon tea. It wasn't the best fare we've had for afternoon tea, and several of the servers behaved like we were a bit of a nuisance (they seemed stressed out for being so busy). The main drawback was that the room was very loud. I think my relatives with hearing aids would have had a hard time.
I took my mom to high tea for her birthday. I had asked that we have gluten free options and that we be close to the harpist. We got both of these. We had an amazing time. The high tea atmosphere is so elegant and beautiful. The tea was delicious and so were the finger sandwiches and pastries. The staff also remembered it was her birthday and sent out a piece of cake for her. My mom and I will definitely be back. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
Lovely tea service at the Drake. Beautiful surroundings, wonderful and attentive staff. The tea was divine as well as the sandwiches, scones, and sweets. Go hungry, they brought us extra sandwiches and it was plenty! A lovely harpist also played while we dined. We celebrated my birthday and the harp player played “happy birthday” and they brought me a chocolate cake with a candle. It was a wonderful experience and I cant wait to go back!
Ok but past it’s prime. For the price, the food was ok but not worthy of a repeat.
Great service and wonderful performance by the live harp player. What a nice touch
High Tea was very exciting for our granddaughter. Great adventure!
Great girls Sunday at tea!
The staff made this very special for our daughter because we notified them ahead of her food allergies and they were able to make different but equally delicious food items that she was able to eat! The harp music was lovely as was the beautiful spring flower arrangement in the center of the room.
We chose to have tea at the Palm Court after church on Easter Sunday. The service was absolutely outstanding, we were welcomed immediately and had a perfect table by the fountain. Although I thought that the tea sandwiches were tasty, I felt that they were a bit lean with the amount of food, so I hope that the next time we have a heartier fare. The scones were delicious as always...can't beat the strawberry preserves, lemon curd & clotted cream. Will definitely go again.
Very nice traditional afternoon tea.
The ambiance of the Palm Court is pure class and rich! High tea is a wonderful experience that anyone who likes beauty and elegance should take part in. The sandwiches and pastries that come with the tea are delicious; they have vegetarian offerings that are quite tasty. The seating is 1 1/2 hours which is a nice length of time to relax and enjoy the tea, the harpist and the room. This is a splurge that should be experienced by anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere.
Wonderful experience with my mother. Nice place to reminisce. :-)
The staff was exceptional meeting our special needs. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer two hours in Chicago. Really!
Loved it. I felt like a princess!
We love afternoon tea at The Drake! Afternoon teas are a family tradition of ours and The Drake is one of our favorites. The service is excellent and the environment is spectacular.
Perfect for catching up with a friend, a special occasion or just to pamper yourself. Elegant decor, very attentive staff and plentiful tea and food. We had tea at 3:00 pm and didn't bother to eat dinner. They really encourage you to take your time to savor the experience.
Beautiful setting for high tea. Expensive, but excellent service.
Very classy and elegant experience
Wonderful service and atmosphere!
I hadn't had afternoon tea here in years so I was really looking forward to it. The place was busy which considering the cost I figured it meant the food was still good. I was wrong. The actual tea was good but the good was pretty awful. The ambiance is nice and seemed like a nice place for mothers and daughters but unless the food improves give the place a pass and try another location for afternoon tea.
High tea at the Drake is an iconic Chicago experience. The space looks as though it has not been changed since the fifties or sixties, which is cute but also reveals some aging. The service is marvelous, and all of the staff is attentive and kind. The food, however, leaves something to be desired. The bread was dry, as were there loaf cake and the scone (more than a scone should be). The house bubbles taste cheap. One does not get what they pay for by way of food or drink, $49 per adult. It's still a Chicago experience, albeit for those who can afford it (or splurge). If you have money to burn, I'd recommend it. For those who are more mindful of your budget, skip it. The Sofitel's pastry are far superior... You'd probably spend less there.
The live harpist was lovely. The service was top notch and the surroundings are steeped in history and elegance. The teas were excellent, fairly well prepared (though one might wish for the leaves to not be left in the pot to continue steeping) and of high quality. The food was beautiful but looked better than it tasted. Nothing tasted bad, there just wasn't much remarkable about it aside from the appearance.
I've been to the Palm Court several times now and it's always a fabulous experience. The ambiance is so special, the servers are fantastic, and the tea is delicious. The only drawback is the food, it's way over priced for what you get, both in quality and quantity. But overall a lovely experience.
We had a wonderful time
Very enjoyable experience. The service staff was incredibly accommodating. The tea was incredible and the assortment of treats was perfect.
As always, it's lovely to have a respite from the hub-bub of life in the city and spend 90 minutes having tea and goodies at The Palm Court.
The staff couldn't be more attentive and the ambiance is perfect.
I took my girlfriend here for afternoon tea for her birthday. I understand her birthday falls on St. Patrick's day but I found the amount of people allowed to flock into the restaurant, who weren't patrons there, and hover over our table to watch a performance uncomfortable and took away not only from the ambiance of the environment but the intimacy between myself, my partner, and our table.
We took our two year old here and it turned out to be a very positive experience. The host was very gracious and welcoming to our young child. Great place to have a family tradition in the city.
The tea was fine but all of the food was really bad. The sandwiches were old like they had sat out all day. We didn’t eat the chicken salad or the fish because we were afraid of illness. On top of that because it was near St. Patrick’s Day, several food items were dyed green, unnecessary and tacky with what I thought would be a high class one of a kind experience. And then with tip it was $120 ouch!!!
Took my older mother and young daughter this weekend. They were SO accommodating and helpful. Asked about allergies when seated without prompting and had a great selections for kiddos too!
Lovely afternoon tea served well. Noisy because of all the chattering, hard surfaces and the fountain but pleasant.
Love the high tea service. We made it a tradition now because of how awesome experience it is.
The room is gorgeous. The staff delightful. It was about the romance and being in Chicago for us. Not the food. The tea was delicious and they brought me steamed milk per my request. Offered 2nd’s on all the yummies. Can’t beat the ambiance and the beautiful room. Loved it
I love coming here with friends and family - the whole experience is a visual treat and a delightfully tasty one too!
Went for high tea on a weekend afternoon. With a reservation was able to be seated timely and had a wonderful and relaxing day!
I took my girlfriend for Sunday afternoon tea. We were seated directly in front of the harpist, which was a surprising treat. Every staff member was kind and attentive. The tea and finger sandwich menu was beautifully set. The ambiance and service were the two real highlights for me! I’d highly recommend this experience.
A classic!! Best high tea in the city. Convenient valet parking at the door step of the Drake. Ambience is out of a movie.
The food tasted ok but the presentation was underwhelming and the recipes didn't feel luxurious enough to match the price point.
My husband & I had a fantastic time. This was our first afternoon tea - our server & the rest of our wait staff was so nice with us. We will be back.
