The Palm Charlotte Ratings and Reviews
I have eaten at the Palm Charlotte for years. My wife and I make the drive just to enjoy the lobster and steak. The steaks are always cooked to the right temperature and the lobster is always perfectly broiled! Sides are family style and dessert is always delicious. Drinks are abundant in choice, even on special requests. Joey, the general manager, and his staff are always friendly, accommodating, there to make your evening perfect! Thank you Joey and to your team!
This was a quiet lunch by myself - as usual everything was delicious - I had lobster bisque,
filet medallions, creamed spinach and of course the yummy cheesecake. Always my go to
place when I go shopping at Southpark. Yes it is more expensive than most - the quality of
the food can't be beat. Had enough left overs to have for supper.
The Palm restaurant in Charlotte is a treat. I don't get there as much as I'd like as it's not an inexpensive night. It's a special occasion place. My son turned 24 and I will have my birthday this week also. It's so much fun to treat him to a fabulous lobster dinner. OMG...abandon all thoughts of calorie counting and dive into the hash browns, lobster mac and cheese and the donut dessert. Always love this treat.
Only disappointment I have is that having been a member of the 837 club they've changed the "rules". You used to get a free lobster coupon for your birthday month, now you have to have spent a $1000 in that year to qualify. Granted it doesn't take but a few visits to get to a $1000 but still disappointing that they added that condition.
Food was good as usual, but service was terrible for the money that you pay. We chose a booth in the bar area figuring the Palm would have good service period, but perhaps we’ll stick to the dining area if we ever go back, seems service is usually better there. Compliments to the kitchen though, the prime rib was good as well as the lobster bisque and coconut scallops.
Maitre D sat us at the worse table in a corner of an almost empty room. Never mind the place was half empty. The wine list is very overpriced with wines priced almost at a ratio of 4 to 1. Was able to find a named vineyard Sbragia Napa Cab that was maybe priced 3 to 1. The steak we ordered along with a Nova Scotia lobster was over cooked. The final nail in the coffin was when same Maitre D came back to tell us in an obnoxious manner that we needed to “tone it down”. I have eaten in the worlds most expensive restaurants and I as well as my son and his friend are all professionals. We were behaving in a socially acceptable manner. The irony of it was that there was one other table in the entire room with guests. So yes in an empty room and we are having a good time maybe the people at that other table found us too loud. Unless we sat there quietly I do not see how we could have avoided that. Never mind the fact that after the tip I paid a $650 bill so I ask...I guess we were good enough for that right? It seems to me that this Maitre D made a decision for whatever reason that we were not worthy of his establishment and it started when he stuck us in a corner of a near empty room. It was like saying let me stick you guys back here where no one can see you. Do not really understand.. my leather jacket I had on cost me $3000 and my name read Dr.
On the positive side the service provided by our server and her assistant was very good and she tried her best to make us feel comfortable since she realized how obnoxious this Maitre D was. I have dined in Michelin starred restaurants all over the world and this was a first for me. I will never ever return to The Palm in Charlotte.
I made reservations for a group of five women in my family,we labeled it "Girl's Night Out." It was the most beautiful, fun and pleasant night we've spent together in a very long time, we owe that to The Palm Restaurant. The service was impeccable, our waitress was very professional, attentative and extremely nice ,along with the other staff members. The atmosphere was wonderful the food was exceptionable and the view was spectacular! We will be back and we're recommending The Palm to everyone we know,it's a great place to dine out with family and friends thank you so much for ensuring my guest had a wonderful fun and exciting evening!!!!
While the service and food were excellent. I was very turned off by my table location. I requested a round table (which can be converted from most of the four tops) and asked for privacy. We DID get the round table but it was placed in the middle of the room near the entry and exit to the kitchen with waiters rushing all around us. When I asked to be moved I was told all the other tables were reserved. (Doubt it). When I left after dinner many of those “reserved” tables were still empty. As a result, I will not return to the Palm since there are so many other good Charlotte steak houses who go the distance to honor diner requests.
Garlic mashed potatoes were instant potatoes with no garlic. Brussel sprouts were mushy. Green beans almost raw & tasteless. These taken from bill. Lyonaise potatoes & creamed spinach excellent. 3 of the 5 steaks slightly overdone. Staff very professional & attentive though
Saturday night out with another couple. We took advantage of the lobster tail and filet special with sautéed spinach and Brussels sprout sides. An excellently prepared meal and a great bottle of wine. Cheesecake, donut holes and peanut butter pie for dessert were also well received by our group.
Not sure what has happened to the Palm in Charlotte at lunch time. Indifference is the only label that seems to fit. Our steaks were cooked reversed, i.e. the medium rare was medium well and the medium well was rare. (we have had miss-cooked steaks on prior visits). Vegetables are raw and not eatable. Waiter didn't show up much, even though the restaurant was mostly empty. Manager not in sight, not around when we left. My wife and I have loved going there for the Power Lunch but it is not fun anymore. Too bad. Perhaps their dinner performance is better. Would be nice if the lunch service would get back to its very excellent earlier level.
One of my favorite places to dine!
The service is on of the best in Charlotte. Very professional without losing the warmth and caring of the customer. Very friendly environment.
The food was superb! Great portions and the timing b/n appetizers and main course was perfect!
Will continue to save this restaurant for any celebration and/or special occasion.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the South Park area. You can always count on a great staff, fantastic food, and a wonderful wine selection. I would recommend this for dinner out or business dinner. The steaks are typically cooked to perfection and their fish selections are delicious.
Another enjoyable dinning experience in one of Charlotte's finest restaurants. The lobster feature for two was outstanding. The best lobster that I have had in many years. Plentiful portions, prepared well and served out of the shell. Side dish of potato's au-gratin was very tasty and enjoyable could not finish the side between the two of us.
As always we look forward to our next visit.
