My boyfriend and I love doing breakfast on Sundays here! It's always good. My only complaint is that the menu use to change more frequently and it's been the same for a while. We are ready for a new breakfast dish!
Palace 5-course was creative, full of flavor and presented beautifully. Requested wine pairings and was accommodated. Attentive and friendly Maitre'd, server and support staff. Food delivery a bit slow at beginning of our 7:30 evening, but extra wine pour and visit by the Executive Chef with additional course for our "inconvenience" was more than appreciated. Appetizer and amuse bouche nice and welcomed unpublished additions to our meal event. Quiet music from adjoining bar a lovely addition. An excellent celebration evening.
Always the best dining experience in all of Cincinnati. Great service from Brenda & John who made evening fun and entertaining... I would recommend The Palace to anyone. We got hooked on this place while Chef Salazar was still in the kitchen, but love to see that Chef Sheatzley has kept the food top notch. Our dinner experience was wonderful.
Overall, The Palace restaurant is an incredible experience, and is absolutely worth the money. It is definitely on the expensive side, ($150-200 for 2) however the 5 course and 9 course meals offered are an excellent way to guarantee a good time. Great tastes and new sensations, and will leave you more than satisfied.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time! The food and service were impeccable, and Brenda went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and help us enjoy our experience. We will absolutely be back.
The servers were great, and it was a very neat atmosphere with Piano and Bass playing. Food was pretty good, but I would not consider it a great meal for the price. Portions were very small, and was expensive ($120 for 2 of us, one drink each, salad and entree).
Our service came across as unprofessional. She didn't take a drink order promptly, and kept repeating "aw riiiight" . We had to ask for the bread to be brought. We had to get a drink order from the maitre d and had to request water as none was brought to table. Half way through the meal she came and asked if we had received the entrees. Shouldn't she know that?
I ordered the beet salad which was a half cup of cooked beets, which looked lost on the plate, no seasoning and there was no salt or pepper on the table. The sea bass was good, but the chocolate cake and ginger ice cream was terrible. No balance of flavors and overpoweringly sweet. I couldn't eat it.
So I went home and made popcorn because I was hungry. After a $200 meal. Never again.
The food was good, but the service was painfully slow.
We went to this restaurant as a part of Cincinnati Restaurant Week and it was amazing. Often when I make reservations at other restaurants during Restaurant Week they try to entice us away from the cheaper prix fix menu, but at The Palace they didn't even give us regular menus- they assured us they were completely confident in the specials offered and that the chef would like us to choose from it and enjoy. All 3 courses were amazing, the service was perfect and they brought out little bites and palate cleansers after every course. Even the palate cleansers were delicious. I highly recommend The Palace for a special occasion or fancy date night.
A lovely dinner with excellent service.
Ambiance: Elegant yet comfortable. Love the chairs and appreciate that even the tables for two have plenty of room. The music from the bar was just right.
Service: EXCELLENT! All of the courses were served in a timely manner.
Really appreciate having coffee served promptly when requested. Made us realize how accustomed we've become to waiting "forever".
Every member of the staff was great. John McLean, the maître d', was exceptional.(we made a point of noting his name)
The food was creative -unique combinations that worked beautifully. The little extra touches really made the evening special and enhances the sense of an elegant and special experience.
We look forward to going back- the only shortcoming would be that the wine list is rather limited for dining of this caliber.
Great place for date night! We tried the Palace due to Restaurant Week Cincy, and it was a blast. Course offerings were a gastronomic adventure. The tastings through out the meal from chef were brilliant. I am very likely to come back for a regular menu dinner at the Palace!
We went to The Palace for Restaurant Week and had a great time. The food was so delicious - I chose: king crab pot pie with mushroom reduction, marlin with Israeli couscous and bouillabaisse, and sweet corn brulee and was completely satisfied with my meal - though my boyfriend's choice of filet mignon with bacon hollandaise for his entree was also amazing. Great service overall (though the 2nd course took a bit longer than we expected [~20 min]); would absolutely recommend for restaurant week or a special occasion!
We went to the Palace for Cincinnati Restaurant week, and oh my gosh I am so glad we did! It was supposed to be a course meal (how restaurant week works), but we ended up with 7 courses. Thet brought us warm crackers with melted cheese inside, cranberry and walnut bread with honey and rosemary butter, an amuse bouche of tuna tartar, then our appetizers! And there was a surprise after dessert, too. Super nice ingredients, and the chef makes food do things I know they could. Definitely gourmet dining in Cincy! Dress up when you go, and feel like old world royalty with modern fine dining.
I went for restaurant week with a couple of girlfriends for a nice evening out. The food was amazing and I will probably go back there eventually because it was that good. The service though, left much to be desired. I had a server touch a dirty used fork and put it back on the table, assuming for me to use again...very unsanitary. Then after my salad course, I never received new silverware. I had my entree sitting in front of me for ten minutes before I was able to flag a server down. Then we waited nearly 30 minutes for our dessert course. I also had to ask for water several times. I understand that it was restaurant week and it isn't a full price fare, but I always tip exceptionally well with that in mind, if the service warrants it. But I felt neglected and like I didn't matter to him as much as some of his other tables. However, like I said before, the food was great and I would like to go back at some point to give it another chance.
Server was very friendly and gracious. We went for restaurant week and were very impressed! Don't always think of going to a hotel based restaurant but this one is worth going back to.
My wife and I had an excellent time at the Palace. The food was great, and the service was impeccable...everyone was professional, courteous, and super friendly...a great atmosphere...we'll definitely be back!!!!
The food was wonderfully delicious, as usual. It's one of our favorite places for a special occasion. The service is always superb.
The food here is always fantastic!
Again. We feel like family there. John, Brenda and George are charming. We bring our baby and they all are so wonderful with her that even the baby looks forward to seeing them
Fabulous food and great service. Brenda, our server, was terrific. Though a Friday night, we were early 5:30. Hopefully service will be just as good as when crowded.
Took my son for his 16th birthday and that was one of the best decisions on how to celebrate a milestone in life. We had an amazing experience. The service was excellent. The food was amazing. I can't wait to go there again and have another special night. Thank you Brenda for an amazing service!!!
We had a wonderful experience at The Palace. We will definitely be returning soon
Excellent for a quiet and confidential luncheon business meeting.
Exceptional service, wonderful food and relaxing atmosphere. This is the place to go for a night out for dining, not just a meal.
1st experience and can't say that I would come back w/ all of the other great fine dining options in Cincinnati. In fairness, there is potential here; but overall the flavor and preparation were off on many dishes. Entrees and 1st course all had issues w/ either flavor or preparation, my wife's duck was served cold but flavor was great, my ribeye was chewy in spots but very tender in other spots; all of the first courses had flavor problems in one way or another. Highlight was the strawberry ice cream sandwich w/ basil ice cream, that was extremely delicious. Overall, I could see how the Palace could be good, but we did not have a good first experience, even our wine was a skunked bottle of wine, it was sour tasting.
Wonderful place to go for a special occasion and very romantic. The staff went above and beyond expectations for any restaurant. The live music was just icing on the cake to the delicious food they prepared. Will definitely be going back!
Great service and great food as always. Our favorite place to eat in the city! The Restaurant Week menu was delicious and perfectly executed.
Great food and service!
What an amazing fine dining experience. The service was impeccable. We bought a bottle of wine for the table and there was sediment in the wine and a piece of cork dropped into the decanter. The wine steward took the wine back, brought us a new bottle and only charged us half price for the bottle of wine because of the inconvenience. The ambush, palate cleanser, and aperitif were astounding little bites. The puffed bread with "fondue" cheese was a nice tart bite. The melon soup with a yogurt sorbet was a perfect palate cleanser after the sherry smoked pork belly appetizer. The center cut ribeye medallions with cherry tart paired perfectly together, and how can you go wrong with an ice cream sandwich filled with basil gelato? Will definitely not wait another 20 years to go back. Great for a special evening out.
A very enjoyable dining experience
My boyfriend and I had an amazing meal at the Palace. One of the best meals we have ever had; the quality and presentation were great. The restaurant staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Would definitely go back for dinner and would love to try Brunch/Lunch.
excellent food and ambiance...thoroughly enjoyed the evening!
Food was very good here. I especially liked the creativity and presentation. However, the service was a bit slow. We were seated right away and given water, but no one came to take a drink order. When we go our servers attention we placed our drink order with our food order. It was a bit odd. they cleared our plates before everyone was finished and our last diner shoved in his last bite as the ice cream desserts were waiting on a tray behind our table. When they arrived we had we like to call ice cream soup. Nothing horrible overall, but I am not sure front house was on their A game. I like what the chef is doing here in getting the food modernized, but the staff needs to catch up to him.
Fabulous! My husband and I went for downtown restaurant week and could not have been happier. The three course dinner and all the extra bites were every bit delicious as the next bite. Brenda our server was fabulous as well! I highly recommend more people to dine at the Palace.
Had a fabulous dinner during restaurant week. The service was superb and the meal was stellar. Highly recommended!
We went during restaurant week with fixed (3 choices) for menu. Excellent menu and service.
Outstanding and exceptional service! True fine dining experience with above beyond hospitality and attention to detail. Food was more impressive than reviews made it sound. A lot of little perks from the kitchen and generosity from restaurant!! I came with a Groupon and there was no discrimination whatsoever. I would easily pay menu pricing in the future! We will be coming back ... thank you so much for a memorable experience!!
Dinner was excellent: An interesting menu, great service, excellent food preparation, excellent pinot noir, all in a lovely setting. One guest thought that her tomato soup was way too spicy, starter, tuna tartare, and my duck breast were very good, and the two gentlemen enjoyed their rib eye steaks. Dessert was superb too.
food was good but limited menu reduces return visits.
Our server was excellent, the whole staff was very friendly. We went for my husbands birthday with some friends and it was a great night.
