We went here for High Tea and it was every bit as good as the Empress. Great find, will go here again.

My wife and I had a very nice time. The food and tea were excellent. Our waitress was very nice and polite as well as the other staff members. The restaurant was clean and the decor is nice. It has big windows to let in the light. The tables were spaced out enough so you didn't feel crowded.
We would recommend afternoon tea to our friends and family at the Hotel Grand Pacific.

My partner and I went here for high tea. The service was fantastic and the food was great. The server took the time to explain all the food on each tier and how the service works. It was a really fun experience. We both enjoyed it.

The Breakfast was okay. Table service cud have been a little better, Had to ask for everything juice , tea, coffee and for refills. If yr going to serve beans heat and serve them seperatly. do not mix them with eggs or potato. Do them Irish breakfast style. No waffles. no pancakes only french toast. Maybe we got there too late 10.30AM. Otherwise it was ok

I visited the restaurant for breakfast. I was very impressed with how the staff handled food allergies, particularly peanuts and tree nuts. While they have some tree nuts on their menu, I was ensured by one of the chefs that they could accommodate non-contamination for a breakfast reservation. We were able to make a reservation with a note, and they were able to accommodate no problem with very professional service. The food was also delicious, it was a wonderful way to start our day. Thank you to the wait staff and kitchen staff for being so helpful and knowledgeable, and for ensuring a safe and enjoyable dining experience.

Afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday. Lovely food beautifully presented. The server was knowledgeable about the tea, which was from Silk Road Teas. Easily the equal or better than the Empress, without the hype or noise. And half the price.

We had High Tea in the afternoon which was so great and enjoyable that we returned that evening for drinks and dinner. The High Tea was absolutely one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The tenderloin steak that evening was superb. Dessert was artistically presented as well as absolutely delicious. At both meals the service and ambiance were superb.

I had not been to this restaurant for a long time so I was excited to go. However, the breakfast buffet on June 11, 2017 was definitely underwhelming! I would not recommend it for any special occasion. It was ok, but not exceptional in any way.

If you're going to have afternoon tea in charming downtown Victoria, the tea service at HGI will not disappoint. In fact, if you're anything like me, you're likely to be blown away. Ambience is cozy and intimate, a great spot for quiet conversation with plenty of room to stretch out. (This is especially hard to find in busy downtown Victoria where restaurants are swarmed with tourists year-round.) This atmosphere allows for friendly and attentive service; the hotel is grand and proper but not pretentious. The Restaurant uses organic Silk Road tea, a local Victoria tea company and community staple. I chose the Earl Grey for my tea pairing and the flavour was unprecedentedly smooth and potent, as Silk Road does not use any artificial flavours or sweeteners [in this blend]. Lastly, I cannot understate the quality of the food - it was truly impeccable. Unlike at the Fairmont, desserts are made-to-order and you can taste the care put into your experience with every bite. The HGI pastry team delivers afternoon tea classics that are all perfectly buttery, flaky, decadent. Pescatarians with sweet teeth (like me) will love this tea service for its 'west coast' menu; the savoury tier leans toward seafood offers as opposed to meat, and the flavours transition lovingly from buttery and rich chocolate to sweet, fruity dessert offerings at the top. You get a 3oz portion of house-made chantilly cream with your middle tier and it tastes like heaven in a glass; you'd be crazy not to finish it. The atmosphere, service, and quality of tea and food together set the stage for what afternoon tea should be: savoured slowly. All for a steal at $44/pp... you really can't go wrong!

We were actually there for their Early Bird dinner special.

We come often. The room is modern, attractive, well run and the meal is well selected and prepared and a real bargain.

The experience is well liked by retired folk like ourselves and includes a three-course dinner with tea or coffee which would sell for around $23 in a similar setting elsewhere for $18.

The staff and service are great as well.

We went for high tea, celebrating our anniversary. Our server was new and lets us know she was working on her English to describe some of the amazing things that came out. My wife was working on her French, so it ended up being the perfect match, and better service could not be achieved on any level...often, my tea was refresfed for me before I could do so myself...I felt very important here. The hotel is beautiful as well.

Great restaurant conveniently located in the hart of Victoria, BC. If reservations for the Afernoon Tea are made through Open Table, since this is a premade menu, make sure to specify the number of adult vs kids menues, otherwise the restaurant staff will assume it's all for adults.

We went for Early Bird dinner. With older members in our party, it is nice to have the option. Price was excellent. Limited entrees, of course, and one in party had to go to main menu. Everyone was happy with their order although the lemon chicken was difficult to eat from the big bowl. All meals were satisfying and tasted good. We were pleased with the fish and chips and the carrot -ginger soup was lovely. Waiter seemed new to restaurant but was attentive and did a nice job. We asked a lot of questions about the offerings. We have told our local friends and are planning a return visit the next time we are in Victoria (about every 3 months). The Pacific Restaurant is our new "preferred" restaurant--especially with the Early Bird menu. Tables spaced so you aren't having to move your chair to accommodate the wait staff or the other diners--how relaxing. A number of tables occupied near us yet the noise level was quite low. Cheerful greeting on our arrival and we liked the holiday decorations everywhere. Very easy to get a cab for our return to our place.

We went to the Pacific Restaurant for their West Coast Afternoon Tea experience and really enjoyed ourselves. The food and teas were delicious, but our waitstaff, Timothy and Susan, really took the experience over the top.

If you want an excellent Afternoon Tea experience, feel free to skip the other high priced teas at other hotels and head to The Pacific Restaurant.

We really enjoyed the Thanksgiving Dinner menu the food was great and the portion sizes were fine. I felt that the drink menu was over priced and the over cost of the dinner was a bit high. Our server was very good and very attentive.

We booked a West Coast Afternoon Tea for two at least a week in advance. We love taking non-traditional tea while on holiday, and this was the only place we could find that offered service beyond the typical finger sandwiches of egg and cucumber, scones and cakes. We were finely dressed, made up in fact, and on time. The dining area had one, then two servers, but at most only 7 tables were occupied at the same time.
Service was OK at start, but failed for the final hour. We did our research ahead of time, so we knew the menu and selected tea as we were seated. After an "amuse"serving, the tiered platter arrived, was announced, and we were left alone. For over an hour. No "how was " this or that, no "may we box those remainders for you?", no "my, don't you think that edamame was a nice touch?" after food was deposited.
We were never offered drinking water, or more hot water for our tea pots. We watched as no fewer than four staff, including manager, serve others, collect checks, bus tables, sweep carpets, but not once look at us or come near our table.
Food was nice, though rather rich. We could have used more savory and fewer sweet items. The tea selection was hampered by the fact that our first selections were unavailable at the time. Our second choices were lovely, and we would have enjoyed more had it been offered.
In the end, I stood at our table side with my clutch until the manager saw us from behind the staff area two rooms away. The waitress tried to present the check before the manger could finish boxing our leftover treats. She was made to formally apologize for the uncharacteristic service, and the entire visit was comped.
I will never know the price for that tea service, as I never saw the bill nor a posting of the cost on menu, website, or banner. Regardless, it was not worth the neglect and disrespect we endured.

Spent the day in Victoria with a group of ladies. Most of the group went to a nearby place for High Tea. Not wanting the gluten or the sugar, 4 of us searched for an alternate. Seeing that the menu of the Pacific had gluten-free options, we decided to give it a try. We hit the jackpot! The special of the day, a Friday, was Fish & Chips which was made with a gluten-free batter. It was excellent! Two large pieces of Cod, crispy fries, and coleslaw. It even included our beverages (non-alcoholic). Great location, opposite the Coho Ferry terminal. We will definitely go back.

The server, Martin, was exceptional!! He made my experience very special. I give him five stars!

The food, however, was marginal at best. The smear beneath the vegetables, which were barely al dente, was spoiled. The fish was dry. The dessert was pretty good.

This restaurant has almost everything right, but it's not much more than that. The food sounded pretty exciting, and the presentation was very nice. But the flavor was not as exciting. The panna cotta was more custard than cream; the pear pearls were more like pear jelly; the "maple infused" salmon, while perfectly cooked, seemed bland.

Several of our main course dishes included a flower as part of the presentation. While it was presumably edible, it was not cut to be edible (woody stem) and so it was decidedly out-of-place on a plate of food.

This restaurant's menu has a lot of potential. Their actual food has some catching up to do.

My sister and I were in town for a conference and our grandparents as well as my aunt and uncle were connecting in Victoria on a cruise ship. Grandma has a lot going on with her health, is wheelchair bound, and they had only a few hours in port. The staff were flexible with us and our changing arrival time on a busy Saturday night during busy season. They were so accommodating and friendly and being able to meet up with family while they were in town was the high light of their trip and ours! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Stayed at the Hotel Grand Pacific five nights and ate breakfast there everyday and dinner three times.

The staff are amazing, the breakfast buffet is good but nothing spectacular, really needs a little more variety.

However their dinner menu was always terrific. The best seafood chowder we have ever tasted! Spectacular!!!

The 3 of us ordered the mussels and clams to start. They were perfectly cooked but poorly matched with an unpleasant Garlic Arugula Pesto sauce that was dominated by parmesan cheese. The Chef Special Hamachi was tiny and nothing special. The Salmon-Cyazuke was overcooked and had a bitter Dashi broth. The Roasted Salt Cured Mackerel also fell short.

While the gluten free batter was a good choice, the waitress' comments that the "steak" sandwich would melt in the mouth did not turn out that way. The steak was tasty but definitely more chewy and less desirable. Would probably choose the pasta option to be safe in future. The gelato was very good.

I was looking for somewhere nice to take my wife. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The overall experience was great though the menu could have a little more variety. We were very pleased with our visit there. Our waiter was Martin and he was very professional and very personable to chat with. He arranged a little anniversary plate for us at the end of our meal which I thought was a good customer service and a personal touch.
We will return again in the near future.

My partner and myself had a very enjoyable dinner with an attentive server who willingly moved us to a more suitable table as the air conditioning was blasting down on us at a window table. We missed the view, however, were much happier to be warm. The beef tenderloin dinner was excellent. We were expecting an old fashioned Baba au Rhum so was disappointed in the version that came as the dessert. We would recommend this dining room to friends and wonder if an update of the decor is in future hotel plans.

Four of us went to the Pacific Restaurant because I had a won a gift certificate at a charity auction, and so didn't know what to expect but were hoping for a special dinner out. Our first glance at the menu wasn't particularly reassuring - it's an odd mix of sliders, burgers, pizza and pasta set above and below "fancy" dishes like duck, tenderloin and seafood. But I encourage everyone dining there at night to try at least one of those special dishes. They are absolutely outstanding! The duck breast was the best we've had anywhere, and the sous vide chicken was delightful. Even the salads were special, with touches like sliced pickle ginger and sesame dressing on the house green salad, and the bread was hot and flavourful. We tried four different desserts, and each one was a delight. I'd strongly encourage the Pacific to split its menu and offer diners a choice of a bistro or fine dining menu, rather than the current hodge-podge.
The service was very good. Even though our waitress was still in training, she was attentive, prompt and well-trained. The dining room was a bit noisy, as there were a couple of tables with 4-8 year old children, but nicely appointed. So, not a romantic evening but a very good choice for an excellent meal with friends.
