The Oyster Club
Lovely and service was great
The food was excellent as was the ambiance and the service. I would strongly recommend this for anyone who enjoys good food, particularly, but not only, sea food.
Wonderful food and atmosphere...manager was very personable and staff was friendly.
The staff were all very welcoming and attentive but the menu feels a little disjointed and the items we did have were ok but nothing fantastic. I know it’s a new place so I’m not ready to write them off but I won’t be rushing back.
Delicious food and amazing service. The staff are incredibly attentive and good humored. And the food impressed every time. Fresh ingredients and the bread is homemade/fresh.
This is my favorite spot in the city for fresh seafood - Legal Sea Foods is substandard in every way compared to The Oyster Club. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The manager always stops by the table to see how our meal is. They always make us feel very welcomed. The drinks are great too (my current favorite is Lefty's Dilemma). I highly recommend it for lunch or dinner.
Three of us dined here on a Thursday night. The restaurant looked great and had a comfortably lively vibe. We sat at a high top table near the oyster bar, which was fun. We shared several items. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The curled zucchini salad was yummy. Their fried chicken was both moist and crispy. Roasted potatoes were perfectly soft and buttery. The swordfish melted in our mouths along with the miso roasted carrots. Add to that a nice bottle of Pinot Noir, and we were quite happy
The waitress was fantastic, very attentive and precise, especially around the fact that one of us cannot have any gluten due to Celiac disease. Second positive visit and will absolutely come back.
Found this restaurant because it was featured on Eater. I was visiting from Los Angeles. Super fresh seafood. Everything we ordered was delicious, even the French fries. We had lobster rolls, raw oysters, raw clams w/jalapeños, warm clam appetizer w chorizo, and shrimp cocktail. The pate they give you with the oyster crackers is so good. Nothing to complain about it. Great food, great cocktails, great service.
Terrific food and service.
Attentive and good service and staff. Food was very good. Many fish options and varieties.
Met some friends for a night out at this new spot in Back Bay. We all had a great time. The decor is beautiful like a luxury yacht. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I actually don’t eat seafood but the fried clams looked so nice I couldn’t help it, they were delicious. We split a chicken sandwich as an appetizer because the chef has a reputation for his fried chicken and it was very crunchy but juicy. My friends enjoyed the oysters. Even after a couple of Manhattans I can’t get myself to try those. Some of my friends say they are going to start going there with clients.
Unfortunately this dining experience didn’t meet our expectations. The Zucchini Farro salad was a highlight. Otherwise the food wasn’t flavorful and when asking for help picking from the menu we didn’t get much guidance outside of the burger (odd for what appears to be a seafood restaurant) and chowder (not shareable) - there was not a single recommendation for a main course which dissuaded us from ordering more than a few options. Wine list was good.
Seafood at this seafood restaurant was surprisingly bad.
Meal began with large, stale oyster crackers served with what seemed to be a smoked fish spread. Maybe sliced baguette or bread would better suit this starter?
This was followed by a MUSHY shrimp cocktail - yuck. Our scallop entree was cooked well, but the polenta underneath was overly buttery and lumpy, with odd accompaniments. Service was inattentive and clumsy. Can't see this restaurant lasting too long.
We were seated promptly even though some of our party arrived a little early. Our waiter, Ryan, was outstanding and took excellent care of us! He made a great wine recommendation and thoroughly answered our questions about the entrees. All 6 of us loved our food, especially the oysters and shrimp scampi. The price was reasonable considering the location.
First time at The Oyster Club and it was great. The menu and service were exceptional. Mussels and Sardines options were original and superb. Highly recommend this place.
Our waiter, Olga, was spectacular. Everything she recommended was perfect. Overall, the restaurant is a lot louder than I enjoy. But other than that, the food, drinks, and service were top notch.
Drinks came 45 minutes into the meal after the appetizers. Need I say more
Food was good but the service was lacking. The server did not know the size of the lobster and hen it came it was without a lobster cracker. The server said we would be getting a complimentary amuse bouche but it was never delivered. Instead we waited a half hour without any contact from the staff. Everything seemed to take twice as long as it should take
Very nice but inexperienced wait staff. Took long and got our orders mixed up. Maitre d’ helped out. Otherwise excellent food and ambiance (we ate outdoors on a perfect September evening)
We tried this based on some reviews and because it was close to Emerson Theatre before a show. Afterwards I said an amazing restaurant needs either incredible service, amazing food(and food presentation) or a fabulous decor. This restaurant didn’t meet any of those but it was still decently good. Our waitress was very knowledgable about the menu and made specific recommendations. But, overall, we just weren’t wowed by anything. Still, if you’re in the neighborhood it may be worth a try. Good but not amazing.
My husband and I had a weekend lunch at The Oyster Club, and it was fantastic. The cocktails were thoughtfully constructed and delicious, and my husband said the barbecued oysters were the best he'd ever had. We also had a fairly perfect and generous lobster roll, the scrumptious oyster BLT, excellent fried clams, and a brownie dessert that knocked my socks off. Service was cheerful, knowledgeable, and attentive. Highly recommend.
Lovely experience from stepping in the door til the end. Extensive menu and hard to decide what to get so many items looked so good. Excellent service friendly. Love the bar area and decor. Great addition to the neighborhood.
Will soon be everyone’s top choice for seafood.
One of our favorites. Excellent raw oysters. I wish the Oysters Rock were the more traditional preparation, but still tasty. EXCELLENT service. Sorry to see the 2% tip out to the kitchen gone, we thought that was a great way to thank the kitchen for their exemplary work.
Each visit just keeps getting better!
This was my 4th time dining at The Oyster Club and once again, it did not disappoint.
One of my friends was celebrating a milestone birthday and that made her feel very special.
Our waitress was very attentive and did a marvelous job of answering our questions and describing menu choices. Chris and Charlie are always friendly and really seem to have a keen understanding of customer service.
Then there's the food, in a word - AMAZING.
I have enjoyed the Blue fish pate, the Oysters Rockefeller, the Crab Cake, the Mussels, the Seafood Chowder, the Grilled Scallops, the Shrimp Scampi, the Grilled Shrimp and more. The caveat? I have never once asked for salt or pepper...the food is seasoned perfectly each time.
So if you are looking for a great new option for amazing seafood (Legal's can't compare), then try this place and you will not be disappointed. The cocktails and desserts are wonderful too:)
The food, service and ambiance were great. A great place to sit outside on a nice fall day and people watch.
Sat at the bar and the service and food were excellent. Our bartender, Emily, was quick with fantastic recommendations and pairings. A solid experience, made excellent by even better service.
We have been to the Oyster Club before and had a very good experience but the service last night was below par. It took forever to get our drinks, they brought the dinner before we had finished the appetizers, we had to wait a very long time to consult with the sommelier about a bottle of wine, and it was overall very disappointing .
Given the size of the oyster portions, it's a Club I don't want to join. The four minuscule mollusks had more topping than oyster. Seasoning and filler also outweighed the crab in the crab cake appetizer. The scallops were excellent and the only dish we ordered that was priced to value. Great service and ambience but oyster portions are diminutive.
look is a little 'touristy-cruise shippish' - doesn't hit the mark for an upscale look.
food was fine - nothing bad, nothing great . fried clams were a little over
browned, complimentary bluefish spread a bit bland. grilled shrimp were good,
branzino good - boring. oyster crackers were fun (and good).
reservations for 6:30 - lots of extremely loud people in the bar (more than one
service - a little too much checking up on how things were by front of the house etc.
i would rate this restaurant as average.
Smallest pc of Salmon I ever got at a restaurant French fries are not hand cut overall I do not think this restaurant will make it
Very comfortable, relaxed space. Food was lovely and the staff were very helpful.
I’m a longtime fan of Chef Parsons and his ventures. I will definitely give this place another shot as I was completely underwhelmed this initial visit, so perhaps a few months from now. For an oyster club, I expected more options for oysters (there were only four), and additional menu variety. However, the fish I did have (tuna) was fresh and delicious. Our server was clearly still in training and did not know the menu and details at all (not sure why she was put on for a busy Saturday evening), but the Som was wonderful and was able to provide information (wine and otherwise) she could not. I hope to return and increase my review to 5-stars!!
The food here is very good. I’ll start with that. We were greeted by the manager and hostess very warmly, which is great when you walk into a place. No attitude, refreshing! We were seated on the patio which is where we requested. A waiter quickly appeared and offered water and drinks. We placed an appetizer order...dozen oysters, ceviche and a bbq oyster. Here is where is started to go sideways. The ceviche came quickly as did the bbq oysters, brought by a different server. My friend ask for something other than the shrimp chips that accompanied the ceviche and was told there was nothing other than oyster crackers that she could have. I suggested she bring a plate of cucumbers instead of chips and she said she didn’t think the restaurant had them. Seriously? I told her I had just had a cocktail that featured cucumbers and suggested they did indeed have them. We got them. Then the request for entrees. The waiter was vague and confused about the menu...didn’t know it contained grilled shrimp, couldn’t describe how the lobster was presented (it’s boiled lobster). We ordered a grilled Caesar as a mid course (more confusion) and our entrees. Very quickly, everything appeared. The dozen oysters that we had been waiting on for an appetizer, with an extra ceviche we hadn’t ordered; the salad which was supposed to be mid; and the entrees. This is a huge irritation when a restaurant doesn’t know how to time service. Appetizers and mids are ordered for a reason and it’s not to be side dishes to entrees! The presentation of everything is completely, 100% uninspired, it’s just food on a plate, no creativity. Luckily the food was excellent across the board. I’m hoping they are just working out the new staff kinks, if this place can bring the level of service up to the level of the food, it’s a winner. I’d def give it another try to see if things improve (and to eat yummy food) but won’t go for three if the service remains as is.
Fabulous fresh seafood in a sleek and fun environment. Food, service and ambience are all great. I look forward to returning.
Celebrated wife’s birthday with friends. Thought it was really really good, both food and service. Will definitely be back.
Friday roast lobster was wonderful. Service was friendly and efficient.
I was disappointed with my first visit. I went with a group of five, on a slow night. So good service should have been easy to provide. The waitress forgot the appetizers. She apologized profusely, and everyone was generally courteous so I did not mind. Then the food came. The bread and butter were great. So was the (Portuguese?) canned salmon pate, and aoili. The fish and chips were bland, according to one guest. The grilled fish entrees were all right, but nothing memorable. One guest had swordfish and another lemon-tarragon stuffed branzino. It turned out my guests were not that into oysters, so we did not fully explore that part of the menu. I guess we missed out on all the good stuff?
For the price I expected more. I wouldn't return unless a company picked up the tab.
I really do like this place. Service was most excellent. Everybody chipped in and everyone we met was professional and friendly. My husband and I started with drinks. He had a draft (Maine Beer Co.) and I had Five Cherries cocktail. Really enjoyed drinking this bourbon concoction made with BACON bourbon. You don’t see any bacon in this drink. It’s very smoky and just a subtle taste of bacon, then garnished with 5 cherries. I loved it so much that I had a second.
Now to the food! I read a lot of reviews on this Oyster Pan Roast appetizer prior to coming here. Seems to be the fave amongst diners who have dined here. Did not disappoint at all. Loved this! Could not get enough of the broth. We also shared Shrimp Cocktails. They were HUGE and scrumptious. After both of these apps, we could not wait for our main entrees! The anticipation was killing me! Both of us ordered the Lobster Casserole. Plenty of huge chunks of lobster meat. Needless to say that the kitchen did not hold back on the amount of lobster. At $48 a plate, I thought the pricing was kinda fair. Now how did it taste? While my husband ate his, after about 3 bites, I could not go on. It was beyond salty for my taste. The casserole was actually fine, it was the lobster meat themselves. It was as if the lobster was sprinkled and rubbed with way too much salt. Our lovely waitress did ask if I wanted something else, I told her no. I thought if I brought it home and make some rice, it would be an excellent lobster étouffée leftover. The salt would blend well with the rice. Btw, that lobster étouffée was an excellent lunch the next day :-) So because I was still hungry, I was really looking forward to dessert. We had Profiteroles. They were unbelievable! It was actually served by the pastry chef who made it earlier in the day. Like I said, everybody chipped in when it came to service.
We can’t wait to come back. I just hope they don’t go overboard with the salt again. Thank you for the excellent service!
Beautiful atmosphere, impeccable service, absolutely delicious food from start to finish. Do not miss dessert!
