The Oyster & Fish House
The menus at the Fish House are built around the long-established, personal relationships that Mark Hix has with his suppliers and use only responsibly produced, carefully sourced and simply served British seasonal ingredients. The Fish House also serves by-catch fish and seafood, supporting local Lyme Bay Reserve fishermen.
The wine list reads as a charming tour of the local vineyards including Lyme Bay and boutique vineyard, Castlewood. Enjoy a local beer made locally by Palmers or Gilt and Flint, alongside a seasonal cocktail list showcasing local spirits.

Delicious, fresh fish. Best oysters I’ve eaten for a while. Very good deserts
Good food as ever. Great location.
Even in torrential rain the team were a delight, gave great service and seamlessly accommodated those, at risk of being drenched, indoors. The food was excellent with the best prawn burger and have ever eaten. 👏🏾👏🏾
We sat outside & unfortunately we were in a monsoon. Staff did brilliantly despite the inadequate weather protection provided. 3 fish fingers and fries for an adult is not adequate. The quantity and quality of the food does not reflect the pricing.
The menu over delivered and the food underwhelmed, service was lovely and the staff were excellent. Fantastic setting. Personally I have had better quality food at cheaper prices, not value for money for me.
Our first visit since reopening and a reunion with friends
The quality of the food was excellent and pleased to see you have enough staff so we were well served
A excellent experience
Relaxed setting with wondrous views over jurassic coast. Staff were super attentive, menu to please all 4 diners. Food was beautifully presented and excellent quality and standard . We loved every bite..hope to return soon. Best meal in Lyme!
Very straightforward unpretentious cookery. The highest quality fish and other ingredients cooked with precision. First class service and the best view of any restaurant in the country.
The atmosphere and service were spectacular and the food simply amazing! Not to mention how phenomenal the oysters were!
One of the best nights I’ve ever experienced!
Delicious mussels and oysters.
Sea platter lovely
Lovely views of the harbour
Service was outstanding!
Superb food and quality.
Cannot fault it.
Small menu but lots to choose from for all.
Value I think was spot on.
Just brilliant. Food is excellent and the staff are friendly and really helpful. We've been before and we'll definitely be back again.
Amazing food, amazing service, amazing views. The perfect meal for our honeymoon. Nothing was too much for the staff. Thank you!
Super venue for great food, great cocktails and stunning views. Unfortunately, I had to have my dessert without cream as there was no dairy free option. But not really a hardship considering everything else.
Lovely food in a beautiful setting a thoroughly enjoyable evening
DIRTY GRUBBY SHABBY needs a deep clean ……….,. Very tired , more like a cafe than a restaurant! Needs a bucket load of bleach and new paint job !!!!
MR HIX’s take a look at your restaurant
Would you be happy to eat in there ?
SAVING GRACE ….,, THE STAFF
Excellent meal and service would reccomend and definitely visit again
Service was fabulous on a very hot day, and food was fine. The view was sensational
Oysters & popcorn excellent - great batter
Great prawn burger & sea bass for 2 + fresh mackerel well cooked.
Perfect spot for a perfect lunch!
Thank you for looking after us so well.
delicious fresh seafood in a beautiful setting, although the staff were super nice, the food was very slow to arrive.
Fab food and ambience, but we did have to ask for a menu and to order drinks throughout, the menu wasn’t explained and we were asked later if we had been told about the special of the evening but all very delayed.
Staff were very pleasant. We felt a front of house was very much needed to direct staff to each table keeping everything to a normal flow.
Fantastic food, will be back next time we are in Lyme Regis.
We visited on 21st July. Social distancing and Covid rules were still apparent, we felt very safe. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the food as always was excellent. Thank you for a lovely meal.
Excellent food, superb service with views overlooking Lyme Bay.
I would recommend this restaurant as the food, service and particularly the views were amazing. Have been several times now and will definitely be back.
..charming and engaging staff were the highlight of a very mediocre visit..fish going cold while we waited for a sauce.. the people below us eating in almost darkness before someone thought of turning the heater lights on.. apparently the rather attractive solar fairy lights weren't working..all a bit shoddy..first world problems I know, but this was supposed to be an occasion for us.
We had a fantastic meal. Really good food in a great setting with excellent, attentive staff. Could not fault our experience.
Excellent food, service very good and attentive.
We went on a really hot day and even though there were fans it was still hot, that is the only reason not given 5 stars so prob being a bit harsh. Would definitely go again.
Excellent meal with excellent staff. Lived up to our expectations and more.
Wonderful fresh oysters and grilled fish. Effortless service. Great sea view in relaxed surroundings. This is how seafood restaurants in this country should be done.
Fabulous food, friendly staff and a great view. A faultless way to end our holiday. Thank you.
Poor food. Clumsy flavouring; assembly of dishes just not well thought through.
Poor facilities; only one of 3 loos in use. Unacceptable Queues for loo Toilet bin overflowing. Felt dirty.
A little slow with drinks and orders and whilst stunning location hugely expensive including a £1 head charge for tap water which was a bit much give the meal for 5 no wine and only 1 pudding was almost £50 per head.
Everything about this restaurant from the setting overlooking Lyme Bay to the delicious food. The staff were very attentive and the whole experience was lovely. It was the last night of our holiday and it proved to be memorable.
We will be back.
We had a lovely meal outside on a balmy evening in Lyme Regis. My partner had the broad bean mouse and then the fabulous Mark Hix fish fingers. I have the fish soup and a simple grilled lemon sole. Both were delicious. Service was very polite and unobtrusive, and each server offered to take photos, which was a nice touch!
Not much choice of fish.
Drinks menu very limited only 2 choices beer. Wouldn’t recommend it
Very disappointed was expecting lots of prawns & mixed seafood, grilled fish in this sort of restaurant. Overpriced.
Excellent location especially on a clear day. Slightly rustic but in keeping. Dishes were excellent with a reasonable selection but everything fresh and nicely prepared.
Staff friendly and efficient.
I had the best time!! We were absolutely blown away by the food and service. The view is outstanding and tucked away which made it feel very private. The service was a perfect combination of professionalism and being friendly. Belle was absolutely brilliant and very knowledgeable with the menu. I honestly could’ve stayed all evening. I’ve already recommended for my friends and I to return!
