The Oxford - Sunnyvale
The Oxford is inspired by the eclectic, energetic verve of the streets of London. Picture a lively marketplace in London with the enticing flavors and aromas of the Middle East, Southeast Asia, India and the United Kingdom. The Oxford serves up all of that – and more – in one fun, relaxed gastropub.
Kick back with our original cocktails, which change seasonally. Or a classic libation. Or a range of wines and beers, including half a dozen on tap.

Friendly and helpful staff. One of my personal favorite!.
Good food, different but fun. Crustless sheperds' pie exceptional. Hot sauce a bit sweet! Good beers, some decent scotch. Very noisy, tables too tightly packed for a sit-down.
This was the first time I’ve ever visited this establishment. We chose to sit on the patio in the sun. Service very prompt and attentive. I chose the curried shrimp which was delicious. The online menu did not show the east Indian fair however, I was pleasantly surprised with the choices. If only one change would be to the cocktail menu. Perhaps offer a wine paired with the menu.
Great food. I really liked the fish and chips. Our server was fine. The noise level was louder than I like.
The Oxford is a truly amazing experience compared to the rest of Sunnyvale and the surrounding area. The menu is refreshing, the food is high quality, the ambience is interesting.
This is our go-to restaurant for special occasions (day night, birthdays, holidays, etc)
Yes it gets very loud. Yes the dishes and cocktails aren’t entirely consistent. No, I don’t care about these things when I know Scotch Eggs and Shepard’s Pie is waiting for me.
If you have a mixed party with different tastes, The Oxford is great. The Indian food is as good as any in the area (which is saying a lot). The Oxford Burger is fantastic. The pub food (meat pies, fish and chips, appetizers) are tasty and you will want to try them all.
The staff and management have always been attentive and friendly in the dozen or so times I have frequented the establishment.
The negative reviewers seemed to have expected something other than a “London gastropub with heavy Indian influence”, which is exactly what “The Oxford” is, every time.
Truly one of the best restaurants I have been to in Sunnyvale in the twenty years I have lived in the area.
We were there earlier before the dinner rush so service and food was wonderful.
We have been there several times for lunch and dinner. This was our first brunch at Oxford. Food was disappointing, which may stop us from returning. Fish and Chips - batter was too greasy and think. Chicken and Waffle - waffle was terrible, too much air inside; Chicken batter was also greasy and chewy. Not sure what's wrong. Too bad.
The service & the food was excellent!! We can't wait to go back & try different items on the menu. Our only complaint is the noise level was a little high, but it's a bar too so we expected it. Keep up the great work!!
Great place to hang out! Love the decor, the food was great. Only 4 stars because it was soooooooo loud in there!!! Couldn’t have a conversation with others at our table. Would recommend for a happy hour type deal, but not for a family dinner...
Daniel and the Staff were as amazing as ever. Thank you for everyone that made my wife's birthday so special.
As a family with young kids, the restaurant was perfectly friendly and welcoming. The kids menu had 2-3 options, one of which was macaroni and cheese. Unfortunately, it wasn't a "plain" macaroni and cheese, so my kids didn't eat it. My fish and chips was good---no complaints. My wife had a salad, trying to be healthy, but ended up unhappy because it was spicier than she wanted (we should have just ordered what she really wanted...).
This is truly an authentic London place - all the drinks and food options were great.
We really loved all the items - they tasted awesome !!!
But, interestingly, one of the cocktails we ordered had lot of ice cubes - so, we had to ask them to be light on ice :-)
We were in town for the National Championship game and popped in for a quick lunch. The food was very good, and we had a craft cocktail which was also very good. If you are thinking of trying Oxford I would give it a two thumbs up.
Nice refreshing menu. The shwarma samosa is amazing. Burgers and chicken curry are also tasty generous dishes.
I was more than pleased with the environment, service, and dining/drinking options. We would definitely come back!
A little slow on the service, especially when we first sat down (waited a while before the waiter came to take our drink and food order), and the kitchen closed relatively early (8:30 was last call on a Sunday). But the food was good and we enjoyed our meal overall. Would return.
Loved it! This place has a great vibe- very lively- and excellent customer service. The Shepherds Pie was delicious. My only complaint is the small pours for the wine. They pour a 4 oz glass of wine but charge for a full glass.
Very good pub-like food; English items like Shepherds pie and Fish and Chips were excellent.
The cocktails here are great!
The food was great. The staff were really good; very friendly and accommodating of our requests. For example we expressed interest in the Jamaican goat curry which wasn’t on the Sunday brunch menu. On finding out about our interest from the wait staff the chef kindly offered to make it for us.
My niece came in to town for a visit. We were seated quickly, but service was slow. They got my nieces order wrong, and continuously tried to give us the next tables food. Food was good though
Always a top notch, yet warm and comfortable, dining experience. Outstanding service and delicious cuisine.
First time there. Had the chicken pot pie and falafel sliders. Both good. Disappointed that the bar was not opened since there were some interesting drinks we wanted to try. Service good. Will go back to try other items.
Food was good, but very noisy. Seated near large group and would decline table if seated there again
English pub setting with American fare and a curtailed Sunday menu. Good fit for Vegetarians who don't want to just munch on salads and highly customized dishes. Extensive bar menu and a super tasty veggie burger if you are into it. Dug on fish and chips and tomato soup - one gripe that the soup portion was pretty much for half a kid given that it was on a vast saucer with a tiny space inside. Not a good ROI for an american restaurant. Slightly expensive side but situated right on the corner of Murphy Ave Sunnyvale Downtown. Music wasn't much at all but service was excellent, attentive and quick.
Interesting variety of cuisines offered. Friendly atmosphere. Waitstaff attentive.
Excellent service for a lunchtime meetup for a friend's birthday. Menu offers lots of options from standard English pub fare to Indian and Middle Eastern. Highly recommended tomato soup!
Recently had brunch at The Oxford. Great food, especially the English Breakfast. We were able to sit outside with our dog and enjoy a peaceful morning. Only issue we had is that our 12 year old son ordered the pancake breakfast but was given one single pancake instead of the standard breakfast order. One of the other servers was quick to remedy the situation with only a minor delay.
Overall good experience. Like coming to this place. Pot pie could have been a lil better.
This is a relatively small place so it is impossible to be away from the bar and television sets. If your goal is just to have lunch or dinner and enjoy some conversation, that is not really possible. We went for lunch on Saturday. Service was slow. After delivering our order, no one checked back with us until the bill came. My wife loved her lamb burger, but my Shepard's pie was so heavily spiced that I could not taste the lamb or the vegetables. It was quite nicely presented, the vegetables were still nicely crunchy and not overcooked, but way too much spice. I used to live in Thailand so I like spice, but not when it obscures all other flavors.
Service was horrible and the food was mediocre. Expect to not be waited on when gratuity is included.
The food and cocktails were great, but the thing that stands out in my mind is the service. They had the right mix of professionalism and fun, and made us feel welcome even with our kindergarten (who they thankfully served first, heading off any fussiness). Great night out for my birthday. Kudos.
Went for a farewell for a co-worker and we very much enjoyed our experience.
Had reservation & were immediately seated. Waited 20 min. for service, really pushed us to order appetizers which we planned to do anyway. Also asked for our dinner order. Both apps and dinner as well as our cocktails arrived at the same time. The noise level in the back corner was deafening we ate and left. Did our chatting outside rather than hang around
Super inconsistent experience... Dined here 3x and order the same meal every time, yet I was served something completely different each time haha. First meal was great and the subsequent two were terrible, won't be coming back.
Food can be good or terrible, the service is good, the ambiance is cool but loud, and the lack of consistency will keep us from returning.
We went with another couple for dinner. We really liked our server and enjoyed the creative drinks on their cocktail menu. The bar area was very loud and lots was happening. We were preferring not to have so much noise and were happy to be in their more private area. Really did enjoy those kale chips! They were rolled up in balls so they weren't thin like I was expecting at all. I really enjoyed my cottage pit. Yum! Will definitely have that again.
Very limited menu, terrible dietary options
We picked this place for my wife’s birthday. They have a good selection of beers. And the Shepherds Pie is simply amazing. We even liked the kebab platter/skewers on a middle eastern note. Have been back a couple of times with office happy hour type get togethers. Nice classy ambience.
My husband had the chicken masala and it was excellent. I had the falafel sliders that were so lacking, I went to the Falafel Drive-In in San Jose for lunch the next day just so I could have a decent falafel. Half way through eating the first slider I ditched the bun and started dipping it in my husband’s masala sauce. That helped a lot. They have a decent amount of beers on tap. I had their own Safron IPA and loved it. My husband had a different IPA and while his was good, I liked mine better. Will we come back definitely yes there are plenty of other interesting choices on the menu to try.
