Adan was excellent and the entire meal was on point. Made us feel at home and well taken care of across the board. Highly recommend.

We have dined at Oval Room on a previous DC visit and enjoyed it. This time was just as good. We enjoyed a perfectly made cocktail, and not rushed. The salads were delicious as was the main course. I had the pasta and my husband had the salmon. We split a heavenly chocolate torte.

We thoroughly enjoyed an exceptional dining experience, including meal (steak and beet salad were perfection), wait staff (among best possible), attention to detail (superb), floor management (very accommodating and friendly). Now one of my favorite places to dine in DC area.

We were a group of seven. Each ordered something different, and all were very pleased with cocktails, the wine and all three courses ordered by each
Highly recommend

Delicious, well-prepared food - lovely presentation. My wife had the shrimp and grits dish - which was outstanding. The grits were incredibly creamy and filled with cheese, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly (I can attest to this because I had my share of bites). That being said, I did not neglect my own dish - the duck, which was so flavorful. The waiter knew how much I was enjoying my food because I kept saying 'MMMM' so loudly! What can I say? A man likes a good meal. My wife had to remind me to keep it down. What would I do without her?

Anyway, the service was outstanding too. We were treated well, and enjoyed the evening.

Restaurants have difficulty in maintaining high standards over an extended period of time. The Oval Room is an exception. Excellent food, impeccable service, reasonable prices, comfortable chairs. No pretentiousness, just attention to detail. A sound choice for a business lunch or to catch up with an old friend.

The food was well prepared and interesting (and tasty). The service was just about perfect. It was attentive without being intrusive. I did not feel that the staff had become part of our conversation, as is so often true in DC restaurants. I always enjoy dining there.

The food is delicious, service is outstanding, ambiance is quiet and soothing. Oval Room remains one of our favorite restaurants and we discovered this time, it is near a Metro stop which is highly appealing.

I thought the ambiance was too casual for what I expected. The noise level also was more than I wanted. The desserts are a disaster! I have never tasted worse. The main course of Yellow Fin Tuna and duck was delicious, but I will not go back to the restaurant again.

The Oval Room is better than ever. The pan roasted lamb is sensational and the wine list is first-rate. It also has perhaps the best patio in the city.

Excellent meal and wonderful service always. Perfect for a business lunch with attentive (but not intrusive) service, no rush, and interesting menu to add to the lunch or dinner conversation. Thanks to Oval Room management for making these arrangements work consistently.

The Oval Room never fails! Just had a wonderful dinner with a great waiter who recommended a terrific wine. Dining room is lovely: well-spaced tables, quiet, civilized, sophisticated. We can't understand why the restaurant was not busy--it should be packed!

I took two colleagues from China who had a terrible experience at a different restaurant on their own the night before. Due to language challenges, my party had a tough time with the menu, but the waiter was extremely patient with us and offered recommendations that were phenomenal.

Another fine restaurant of the Knightsbridge Restaurant Group. Across from our favorite (food-wise), The Bombay Club, The Oval Room has a superb location, and a charming atmosphere. And at least in this restaurant, as opposed to The Bombay Club, the clientele were appropriately dressed (one of my pet peeves about The Bombay Club is that they permit people totally inappropriately dressed to dine there; I mean shorts, flip-flops, etc.) But I digress. The food for two of us at The Oval Room was exceptional, but the lamb my husband ordered was stringy and overcooked. We will, however, go back to enjoy some more items on their (somewhat limited) menu.

This was our second visit in three weeks and once again it didn't disappoint. Everyones food was excellent: chicken liver pate with pecan granola and peach jam; Pan Roasted Hanger Steak
Black Garlic Soubise, Aleppo Crusted Potato Confit. Watercress, Fennel, Sherry Vinaigrette; Pan Roasted Amish Chicken Corn Pudding, Pickled Chanterelles, Baby Swiss Chard, Cornbread Croutons, Bacon Ravigote; and Wild Coho Salmon Charred Cucumbers, Moroccan Olives, Marinated Feta, Pearl Onions, Tzatziki Labneh. We shared a raspberry mousse that we didn't finish! Service was perfect. We were able to hold a conversation in normal voices.

Oval Room is an elegant and upscale fine dining option in downtown DC. Contemporary decor, white tablecloth, small dining rooms, comfortable dining environment, both in and outdoors. Food excellent overall, although desserts could be better. Service is outstanding. Pricey but not outrageously so, comparable to similar class restaurants in this area.

Food and setting were both good, though the food wasn't quite on par with the price. The real downside was the service -- impolite and inattentive. Had been looking forward to this meal, but left disappointed, never to return.

Usually very dependable. Perhaps because many people were on vacation. The service was inattentive and interminably slow. The restaurant was perhaps 30% full and yet it took forever to get our food. We were four people and ordered 3 salads and a linguine and yet it took over an hour to get our food. I had to ask for it after being quite frustrated. It felt as if the order had never gone in. We arrived at 1:15 and it was 2:50 by the time we finished. We were the only people left in the restaurant. My business guests were very unimpressed. I had to ask for the check two times and found our waitress playing bartender. Very inexplicable.

Our grandson, who lives and works in DC, picked this as the perfect place for dinner with his visiting grandparents! The ambiance was definitely "old school" as promised. The food was really delicious, the waiters attentive, and the noise level reasonable. My only criticism was that the low light level made it impossible for me to read the Restaurant Week menu with its light blue type! I am sure I embarrassed our grandson by pulling out my iPhone and turning on the flashlight, but that did avoid what was almost an error in ordering!

My family and I have discover this restaurant five years ago while celebrating my Dad's 75th birthday and we have planned a special occasion from overseas (we live in Europe), this year we have returned to The Oval Room to celebrate my Dad's 80 and my 50's and we were a bit disappointed when requesting assistance with the ingredients that we did no understand, since English is my third language. In the end we have chosen 3 different menues without knowing exactly what we were ordering to cover all the possibilities. Food was very nice though, service was not up to our expectations.

The Oval Room experience was wonderful from start to finish! Service was very attentive and polite, ambiance was lovely, and the food was exceptionally good and beautifully presented. Because it happened to be Restaurant Week (not the reason for our get-together with good friends), there was a special menu with some excellent choices of 3 courses which were exceptionally well-priced. We all enjoyed a lovely evening, courtesty of this fine establishment.

We have eaten at a couple restaurants owned by the group that owns the Oval Room, and they all have the same high level of quality, style/ambiance, and service, which is very high. The setting is near the White House and the DC downtown business corridor so there are a lot of folks passing by, if people-watching is part of your thing. The decor in the OR is terrific - warm, stylish/modern, and comfortable. Service is on par with the decor; very attentive and knowleageable with great recommendations if you need them. Of course, you go to a restaurant for the food, and the OV does not disappoint. Oddly, my wife and I had the same appetizer and entree, which never happens, but this time we followed the direction given by our server and were more than pleased. A watermelon gazpacho started things off (not being too much of a chilled soup fan, I was dubious at first, but decided to give it a try - Boy! Am I glad I did?!). Refreshing with a hint of spice, and just the right amount of crispy chicken cracklins, tomatoes, & jalapeno, this was a wonderful summer soup. We followed this with an entree of Black Pepper Cavitteli, which was a perfectly cooked pasta with crabmeat and mushrooms (I wanted to lick the bowl!). Desert was a lemon soufflé for my wife, and white chocolate mouse for me - both excellent. We each had a specialty cocktail from the bar - also absolutely terrific. $8 valet parking made the arrival and departure a snap. Can't believe you would be anything but very happy and satisfied with a visit to the Oval Room.
