The Outpost American Tavern
Loved it here. Food was fantastic and a proper value for the level that it was. Atmosphere is very casual, not pretentious. Will come here again.
Food was fantastic and the server was very knowledge of the menu. He made some great recommendations! My husband said it was his new favorite restaurant! The portions were huge.
Great service. Awesome knowledge of the menu. Delectable drinks. Impressive plating. Best ‘Monte Cristo’ I’ve had.
Great brunch! Everyone in our group ordered something different and it all was delicious. They have a nice drink menu too.
We randomly picked the place and were happy we went. April our server was great and the people were friendly. We ate the ribeye steak and will recommend it highly. Great time! Thanks “April as in the month!”
Love Outpost!! Awesome service and great food! Amazing cocktails too
Service was excellent. Food was delicious. The tuna wrap was exceptional and the nachos were made from scratch. I would definitely go back.
Very good food and great service, as always. The avacado toast, pictured on the app, was outstanding. A neighborhood gem.
Family of 5 enjoyed dinner. Older kids liked their meals. We particularly enjoyed the Pizza Burratta and the steak salad. Ambiance is casual and fun. Staff was attentive and delightful.
Went here with my friend for Restaurant Week. The food was good and the servers were really friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the upholstery of the booth we were sitting at was very stained, which was kind of a turn off. Definitely recommend making a reservation as it was pretty packed and there isn’t really anywhere to wait for a table.
We went for restaurant week. They had a good variety of items on the menu and we each had different items. The appetizers were good, with the nachos winning that round. Every entree we had was amazing and we couldn’t pick a favorite. Dessert the clear winner was the dulce de leche cake. Service was good. It wasn’t overcrowded or too loud. Only down side is the very difficult parking in the area We would all definitely go back or recommend
We have eaten and enjoyed the Outpost before. The noise level this time was loud but it was the night of the Raven's football home playoff game. It was also restaurant week and they had a special menu to that. All our food, 6 appetizers and dinners were very good and tasty.
Amazing food and service.
New Years brunch was great! Staff was very attentive. Order was accurate. Food was delicious.
I love this place! Great food selections and wonderful atmosphere with friendly staff!
So creative and so so tasty! We love this place and will continue to come back time and again.
Brunch was the bomb.
Always yummy! Addicted to the blackened tuna salad
We always chose TOP when we have out of town visitors. Always a great experience-- awesome food, drinks and service. One of our favorite local spots!
Excellent food, service, and vibe—as always. Friends came to visit and this was the perfect spot to share a meal and catch up. Delighted that this wonderful place is so close by!
Service was very friendly, however incredibly slow.
Just a solid dining and drink experience
We absolutely love this neighborhood gem! Fabulous food, fantastic knowledgeable servers, and cozy atmosphere. Will go back time and time again!
The Outpost was the ideal place for my son's birthday celebration. The food was excellent as was the ambiance and service. The can nachos should not be missed.
Food was great but service was horrible! Server was rude the whole time.
Chose this tavern last minute for my family really cool place off the main drag with a really fun vibe. They had 2 excellent duck specials on Sat night I ordered 1 and my wife ordered the other...FANTASTIC!! Had the deviled eggs topped w fried oysters app also really good, my 7 yr old gave the chicken fingers 2 thumbs up and an added bonus to our meal they poured a really good manhattan w walnut bitters!! Nice touch def recommend this place.
Best brunch food in Bmore! Also the biscuits are to die for. Whenever I have friends visit I take them to Outpost for a delish brunch prior to walking down along the harbor. Highly recommend!
Nice place friendly staff who love the food. Not a deal breaker, but they don't serve egg whites
We’ve loved every dish we’ve ordered there. The mule is by fav my favorite drink.
Yes, great food and atmosphere. The happy hour is great too.
Fun, high-energy Federal Hill hangout with friendly service and good food at good prices. It’s been a while since we dropped by and I’m glad we returned. I did grab a dinner reservation and it came in handy on a busy Friday evening.
We really enjoyed the relaxed, civilized atmosphere, considering we were have a light dinner after the Ravens game in Sunday. In a neighborhood chock full of rowdy, loud bars, the Outpost is an oasis. It’s cozy, and the food was very good. I had the burger, which was immense, and high quality. My wife had the trout, and she thought it was excellent. Our server was also welcoming, and very good, as we had eight people, and she didn’t miss a beat.
Great food and atmosphere
Best burger in SOBO. Rockfish entree was suberb...something I would expect from a high end restaurant in NYC
Great neighborhood tavern. We loved the food and will be back again and again.
I had been hearing such great things about this restaurant. Maybe I was expecting too much ! Service was slow and very uneven. One person got soup before any of us got drinks. Then the drinks came like two at a time. Tiny martini for $14.00! There’re only $12.00 at the upscale restaurants. Nobody ordered a second. Some items were good others fair. Nothing great.
Spinach dip was delicious! So creamy! We loved the campy decor and the menu was wide-reaching and everything we had was delicious. Nice server and cozy tables. The extra dirty martini was to die for!
This is a great neighborhood find. Food is excellent with good service. Everyone in our group loved their selection.
I want to say first off that the food is always excellent at The Outpost. But time and time agin the service is just awful. In past visits I've gone in on a weeknight to be asked of I have a reservation and when I've said no, there was always a look and then a hemming and hawing about where to seat us. So I've been making reservations. On this particular night, I went in and told the person who greeted me that I had a reservation and she said, mockingly, "yep, the only reservation." So, whatever. Once seated we received water and then proceeded to wait 20 minutes for anyone to come say hello or acknowledge us. Luckily, my dinner companion is good company. After finally coming to greet us, the man serving us took our drink order and then returned about 10 minutes later. We ordered our food and then waited another 30 minutes for it to arrive. Again, thank goodness for my dinner companion. In that 30 minutes, I drained my drink and no one came to offer another. When our food arrived, another server dropped it at our table without looking at us and then took off. Our server never returned until we were almost finished and asked if everything was ok. Well, no. The food was great. Really great. But I had no refill on my drink and we had a minor request for extra ranch we did without. I mean, didn't this man want to make more money by selling me more expensive drinks? I would have happily paid more for our dinner and drinks total but we were not attended to. In the end, a third person dropped our check and ran my credit card. Never saw our server again. This was the worst of the bad service received at The Outpost. In all my visits there I have never felt like anyone cared if I came in or not. Probably not going back. Too bad. The food is really good.
