The Outpost American Tavern
We went as a friendly business meal and had an amazing time! Service was outstanding in this cozy tavern. Eclectic touches that made us feel comfortable. We shared the avocado toast and chicken and bubbles special and they did not disappoint. It’s a low key vibe and nothing pretentious about it. Delicious food and we will be back!!
My friends and I dined at the Outpost for Sunday brunch. The staff was very personable and passionate about what they offered at the restaurant. I had the chicken and waffles and a spicy Bloody Mary, both were outstanding! Others in the party had the smoked salmon omelette (very generous on the salmon, in a good way), the croque madame (out of this world), and nannas breakfast (well done classic breakfast). Overall, an awesome experience and I will be back again.
After passing by Outpost many times as seeing it full on weeknights, I now know why. Great food, with a diverse menu and good drink selection.
Food was ok. Nothing special. My friend ordered mushroom lasagna for $20 and it was one mushroom covered in cheese sauce... bad.
This place totally surprised us! We went for restaurant week and the perks are endless:
1. I have severe food allergies, and always note them when I make an open table reservation. As soon as I arrived was seated, the waitress immediately confirmed that I had allergies and told me she had already spoken to the chef about them, and told me the only item on the menu that I couldn't eat! She also even checked with me two different times during the meal about other add-ons, confirming I could have them! That type of extra concern and check is SO beyond appreciated, and truly so rare. I haven't felt that comfortable and confident in eating at a restaurant in a long time.
2. The portions for restaurant week at a lot of places can often be sized down, and these were not AT ALL. They were generous, and the food was delicious. I recommend the burrata and the mac & cheese.
3. They had good local options for draft beer
4. The drinks came with little colorful animals on the side, and I can't overstate how needlessly exciting that was.
Highly recommend, cannot wait to go back!
Went for restaurant week. The service was wonderful. The waitress was super excited about the food.
Visited for Restaurant Week. The atmosphere was lively but not noisy - very much the feel of a neighborhood tavern. The Burrata in Hell and crab dip appetizers were excellent as were the mushroom lasagna, spiced apple cobbler and tres leches cake. I didn't think the NY strip steak was at quite the level of the other dishes, though the sides with it were very good. I had the wine pairing, which was selected specifically to go with each dish and was nicely done. As others have mentioned, parking in this area is challenging but we were able to find metered parking on the street. I look forward to returning sometime soon.
This is a great location for a Sunday brunch. The food was delicious, and our server was passionate about the menu.
Awesome little neighbor bar. Had board and card games to play while we waited
For our meals
Consistently great food. The chef does a great job of adding new things, and keeping current. She and the staff are great ( and we were there for New Year’s dinner)
What a find! So so good. From the comfy cozy ambiance, through great service, all the way to a delicious meal. Everything we tried was a slam dunk. YUM, YUM, YUM!!! Heats off to whoever is cooking in the kitchen.
We got brunch here and it was good food at a decent price
Great place forbore-Ravens game brunch!
Excellent service and the food was amazing, as always. Don’t forget to ask for the daily special. The Outpost never disappoints.
While this is a cozy little spot, the crew at the Outpost Tavern made it happen for our group of 18 business travelers, even after we had to adjust the reservation to a larger number multiple times. Staff - Super accommodating, kind, hard working, great with suggestions, and speedy with all of their service. We were always taken care of and didn't wait long for anything. Food / drinks - absolutely delicious, creative +fun. We shared a ton of appetizers that our group was so pleased with and then all ordered entrees and desserts. We were so pleased to hear, " we love this place" "these ____ are so good!" " great call on the restaurant" numerous times throughout the meal and we definitely hit the nail on the head with choosing the Outpost Tavern to make our business guests happy. The atmosphere was comfortable, inviting + unique throughout. Our whole group left with full bellies + happy energy and we will DEFINITELY be returning if we're back in Baltimore. I can say with enthusiasm that all 18 of us would recommend this spot!
Magnificent !! Simply magnificent
Always great service, and yummy food!
Outstanding Sunday brunch. The waffle with brisket and mushies was great. And of course, the biscuits were phenomenal as always.
We had the best service when we went. Our server, Natalie I believe, was incredibly busy as it was a Friday night, but she was killing it! Service can make or break a meal and even though she was so busy with a hundred other tables, she did an amazing job making my group of 5 still feel like we were important to her! On top of that- my steak frites and the nachos were amazing.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Federal Hill! It never fails to disappoint. From the ambiance to the service to the food and drinks, it always just as amazing as the last visit. They have perfected everything on their menu. This place is an absolute must! Highly recommend getting the canned nachos as an appetizer!
Great spot with awesome decor and staff. Food was delicious. All home made! Wish they offered other options besides beef and pork. Otherwise it was spectacular. Drinks were outstanding.
Avocado toast was amazing. Tofu appetizer - amazing. Nachos very good but would prefer corn tortilla chips instead of greasy fried flour type chips. Adult grilled cheese - not great. Fried chicken sandwich - not great; pretty greasy and over breaded. there was some confusion about our reservation with the hostess. Nice, comfortable, neighborhood bar type setting clean and cozy.
This place is amazing. The food and staff are both Stella. Do yourself a favor and try this food. Brunch is a winner as well as the burger, the nachos, the bubbles and buckets. Hell everything is great.
We enjoyed the Outpost- the food was good and they had a lively atmosphere.
Excellent setting for date night at the quiet booths in the back. Good selection of happy hour drinks and the food tasted great. The server was very friendly, would definitely return!
We really love this place but find the steaks are consistently over salted. This meal every thing was over salted! Also steak frites came rare when medi was requested. I think a little tune-up is required.
Went for our anniversary and it was great. Amazing and attentitive service and the food was fabulous. Must get the nachos!
Went with my two kids for brunch and was surprised at how family friendly it is — they had games and toys all over the place (probably for the young at heart, but we enjoyed it!!). The menu was inventive while still offering the breakfast staples the kids could enjoy. Good portion sizes, too. The table next to us got a Bloody Mary that looked AMAZING!
We were busing our daughter in Baltimore and decided to give the Outpost a try. We weren’t disappointed! This restaurant has a local neighborhood feel and a fun atmosphere. There were throwback games at each table for patrons to play. The service was very friendly and attentive. Their burgers were delicious. It was a fun place to dine!
We love their brunch! Recommend for anyone looking for delicious brunch spot.
It delivers what it promises on the surface, a great little pub/hang-out spot in Fed. Hill. But for me, there was nothing above and beyond that set it apart.
This is a superb restaurant. The baked goods are mostly made in house, as well as the chorizo, the cheese whiz (yes, cheese whiz), etc. The chef, Jamie, is incredibly creative, the food insanely delicious, the service more than friendly and accommodating, portions at the brunch quite substantial. The Tavern is situated in an historical neighborhood house, and is lovely in its funkiness....but.....the food, the food!
Julie did a great job as our server. The food was very good if a little pricey for a neighborhood pub. The menu was creative but limited and some of the items shown on-line were not offered when we were there (I'm talking to you, DBFPC Bratwurst sandwich). I recommend the #10 can nachos for an entree or the entire table but there is a smaller "can" option which is not shown. Julie was savvy enough to make us aware of it and that's what we had. Very good! I would pass on the wings which were rather small in both size and portion. Our drinks were simple and well made. Be prepared to search a long time for a parking spot. Without Julie to guide us, I would have given this a lower rating. She was the difference.
This was a very cool place with very awesome people and really good food. We'll be back.
We went on the last day of Restaurant Week. Normally, I don’t think restaurant week menus are that good. However, everything we had was truly excellent! Our waitress was charming and helpful. This is a wonderful neighborhood place.
The only problem I see is that parking is difficult, so it may not be the easiest place to come if you are driving. However, if you brave it, the food is worth the trip.
We tried this place during restaurant week with a part of 8. Everyone enjoyed their choices.
The place is small and cozy. Décor was unique. Servers were friendly and attentive.
We will go back again.
We were visiting Baltimore from out of state and were lucky enough to find this gem! We didn’t realize it was Restaurant Week but that gave us and opportunity to try three courses - all delicious! And my vanilla peach mule was amazing.
Food was awesome and the service was even better. Really friendly wait staff!
Other than the salmon being a little raw in the middle all of the food we tried was fantastic. Be careful of parking in this area around dinner. I got a parking ticket. It was quiet when we arrived at 6p on a Wednesday night but it did get crowded by 7:30p.
Had a great experience, amazing food and service, comfy atmosphere.
