   I booked this as part of my niece's 18th birthday gift, and was hopeful it would be a great evening. The food and drinks are excellent, and the setting is wonderful, but they were very short staffed, and we were left for 45 minutes between courses in a stuffy room, with no communication. Such a shame, because I really wanted this to be good. I couldn't recommend it at present, but would be willing to give it another go if they get their staffing situation sorted.

   We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the very tasty food. The menu choice was more limited as usual as it was Christmas.

   We booked a table for 10 to eat at The Ostrich as 1 member of our group had been there before and enjoyed it. Unfortunately on the same night the majority of it was booked out to host a party and all hands were on deck for the party. If they had told us in advance that they had a big event on and it would be tricky to cater for us, we may have had a chance to consider our options. We had pre ordered our meals, and some of what we ordered didn't come out and we were not informed that it wasn't available until everyone else had their dinner in front of them, resulting in a quick unexpected change of order for one of us (while everyone else was eating). 3 of our starters were sent out cold (soup). We made a point of having the drinks bill kept separate from the meals as some couples were drinking and others were not. One of the drinks tab ended up on the food bill and it took nearly half an hour to rectify it. Perhaps on a quieter night it's better organised, but on this occasion it wasn't the best experience. The lady behind the counter was very apologetic, but there just seemed to be a lot of waiting around on our part and sub standard food delivered. Its a nice building and it has lots of history to it, so I wouldn't not recommend it... It would be better if they had let us know in advance that we would be sharing with a big party.

   The Ostrich has just reopened after a refurbishment, great job! The staff are courteous & helpful and the food was great. We will definitely go back again!

   Coped with the large number in my party very well. Good service, good food - nice venue. Catered specifically for my vegan colleague with no problems.

   Was surprised at how busy it was for a Monday evening. It was heaving. The food was well prepared and tasty. I love the olde worlds charm of the place and hope that when it is refurbished at the end of this month that this is not lost.

   I had egg, ham and chips for lunch. The egg was cooked to my liking as requested and the chips were like homemade. The meal was a good sized portion which left me feeling satisfied.

   Absolutely fantastic, been before to check it out and just walked in, then booked for dinner when my mother came to visit. Lovely food, great service, huge portions! Lovely ambiance, nice old pub, could maybe do with a bit more variety of beers (lagers) but not complaining!
