The Original Ninfa's - Uptown Houston
Voted Best Margaritas, you can enjoy Ninfaritas on the outdoor deck, dine on the best Mexican dishes & fajitas around and truly enjoy a great restaurant experience.
We were seated in the back room which was great for a lunch meeting where you actually want to hear what each other is saying. The food & service was great!! I would suggest adding a spot to enter names of everyone in the reservation. My guest was waiting up front for 10 minutes before she emailed me, good thing I was checking emails while waiting for her. I also texted her when I was seated but she didn't see the message.
Service was poor and the food was not good. My Tortiellas were stale.
The food was awful. Fajita meat in Tacos al Carbon was low grade, tasteless, ugly, no good, inedible, and pitiful. Also, the Chile Rellenos tasted as if I was eating in a Mexican Restaurant in Minnesota. I would not go back, unless it was to hire a new cook and force owners and management to eat the worst Tacos Al Carbon made in Texas.
This restaurant is just a few months old, but the Original Ninfas has been around since 1973. Management dies a great job, the chicken fajitas are delicious moist large pieces of Breast meet and light as a feather flour tortillas. Everything is super fresh with large portions. Experienced staff and the new location on Post Oak in Uptown very convenient with easy parking. Go you will not be disappointed
We loved the new location and inside it is so much bigger than I expected. There are lots of tables for 6+ so large parties are welcomed. Using OpenTable to make a reservation was a big bonus. The only drawback is that it’s loud. I’m anxious for the weather to get cooler and we’ll start eating outside. Perhaps adding misters to the patio would help and allow us to sit outside now. Overall, I loved it!
This is great for those of us working near The Galleria, but sadly does not measure up to the standards set by The Real Original Ninfa’s on Navigation . Food was lukewarm and recipes didn’t match up to the original on Navigation.
Surprised how poor the service was. Food was good but not compared to the Original. The manager was friendly when we arrived and left. But he need to circulate the dining room instead. Fill water glasses and get more chips and he can monitor the staff and talk to the customers. Also, we weren't even done eating when the bill arrived. Not sure why that happened as there were plenty of tables in the back dining room open. We won't give up on this location but will wait later to go back so they can work on their service.
Birthday celebration for 4 friends. Ambience not great. Lacked charm and noise level way too loud- even with empty tables nearby.
Tables were was too crowded in the space - hard to move. I likely didn’t order the right dish - bacon wrapped shrimp. They weren’t grilled, but deep fried. Killed any flavor they may have had. Im sure the fajitas are the correct order.
On a very positive note / service was perfect.
I’ll likely try again to make sure I just didn’t order the wrong dish.
Food was good. Not better than El Tiempo but good.
3rd time I have visited this new Ninfa's location. Big fan of the Navigation location for many years. Food and service the 1st two times were nothing special. Food this time we all agreed was better. Service is still somewhat lacking. I don't know whether our waiter had too many tables or just was not listening but we had to ask for certain things more than once.
Great food and service , I had the Al Pastor tacos , delicious 😋. Took my friend for her bday lunch and the noise level was perfect
We first thought maybe 1 persons meal was not good but all 4 had a different plate & none were appetizing. The taste just wasn't there. Meat was tough as shoe leather.
There were no issues but the food lacks flavor. When Taco Bell would earn more stars on taste that is a sad situation.
Sevice was outstanding. Food lived,up to Mama’s standards
Spectacular Food & Service, just Over-the-Top experience, not quite as good as the Restaurant on Navigation though.
Excellent service (Bonnie) and food. Huge portions. A little too noisy for us.
We've eaten there twice late afternoon and enjoyed our choices.
Overall good but it a longggggg time to get our meal and it was served like warm
Great food and ambiance. Did not disappoint!
Loved the clean modern look. Everything was good. Food was good but not quite up to original on Navigation is.
Food served cold, and low quality.
We arrived for breakfast. The restaurant was almost empty. There were a dozen waiters standing around but no one helped us for quite a while. Then the waiter came back three times to clarify our orders (eggs)
and still managed to get one of them wrong. The waiter kept disappearing so we were asking everyone we saw for coffee refills, but no one spoke English!
I realize this is a new restaurant but they should have had some experienced staff, and a manager on site.
We won’t be going back.
Second time to Ninfas and second time we requested a different table. Both times the hostesses were not willing to work with us. Frustrating that we have to continually ask for different table and go above the hostess authority.
Fun, busy, delicious food!
The food was average at best. My dish included beef fajitas and the best that I can say is that they were cooked. No flavor whatsoever! Our waiter, who we rarely saw because the restaurant - even after several weeks - is woefully understaffed seemed new at waiting tables. A simple glass of iced tea required three trips and two reminders (ordered - didn't bring - ordered again - received tea but no sweetener other than brown sugar (I'm diabetic) - brought sweetener but nothing to stir the tea with - brought straw since they apparently can't afford long drink spoons). The survey lists the highest noise level as "energetic." Try "excruciatingly painful!!" I had called for reservations but the person on the phone was unable to hear me for the noise. I hung up and used OpenTable. My guest and I were about two feet apart and we had to literally shout to hear each other.
I will not be going back and I certainly will not be recommending this place to anyone.
Not as “hopping” as we expected for a Saturday night. Our waiter was a bit pushy trying to up-sell us on our drinks to more expensive tequilas and same with our fajita orders. A bit annoying...service was good and food was just “okay” but as expected...
Good fajitas but overall poor restaurant value. We arrived at 5:30 and the staff encouraged us to sit outside, saying it was “quieter than inside “-it was hot, with poor service-obviously understaffed. Expensive for Tex-Mex and poor value, particularly considering so many Houston Texas-Mex Options.
Had Ninfa’s famous fajitas: over cooked, tasted more like bbq brisket, little/none seasoning
Birthday dinner. We thought the food was just okay. Nothing special about it. People we’re sitting very close to each other. Our waiter was attentive, but did not react when we mentioned that that the fajita beef was tough and chewy. The manager never came around to check on the meal service.
The tacos al carbon were delicious and Sam provided great service!
The original on Navigation is the one to go to. This one is too tight and the food is not the same
It was a bit noisy, but I believe that was the Sunday breakfast families, once 2pm came around it was wonderful. The food always good , no matter what you order. Sam, our waiter was unbelievable. We were 6 ladies and he got everything right as well and keeping our drinks full. We all had a wonderful time and will be back, sooner than later.
Ninfa's is a Houston tradition. I ordered the steak fajitas. The meat was tender but very smoky. I'm not a fan of smoked meat--but otherwise had decent flavor.
My husband ordered the seafood enchiladas which were not as good as some other restaurants in his opinion.
We did love the chips, salsa, and green sauce as well as the margaritas (I think they were called Navigation). The outside porch is lovely even on a warm evening and our server, Oscar, was the best!
We will be back to try some other items.
Great job by Ebony. More convenient than Navigation.
Uptown Ninfa's is well suited for the area. Trendy location & decor, but with great food like the Navigation location. Mostly a young energetic crowd with lots of noise, but still an enjoyable experience. Hope to go again soon.
A class reunion of old friends is what brought us to Ninfa’s tonight. I was so happy that someone got the memo about the volume of the music. The place still had a great buzz, but was not because they had to artificially create it with the background music. Everything went well... the drinks were in our hands soon, and we never felt rushed. Everything fell into place... appetizers, our meals and a shared dessert. The focus was on the fun time we all had sharing the memories of our 1984 graduation from high school.
Food was very good, but this is one loud restaurant. The server struggled to hear us and that was a bit frustrating but overall we made the best of it.
The prices are higher than your neighborhood Mexican restaurant but are comparable with other restaurants in the Galleria neighborhood .
Ninfa’s still having some start-up issues... to be expected
We went to Ninfa's for a friends going away lunch. Overall, we had a great experience. The only real complaint I have is we were a little confused on who our waiter was. We started with one gentleman and ended with another, with no indication on who we should be expecting. But overall would go again!
Food and service was AMAZING, we will definitely be back. Only complaint is the tables are a little small. Our fajitas, queso, and drinks barely fit on the table--but worth it for the quality of food and service!
