The servers were so kind and friendly and food was exceptional. Highly recommend the queso royale and enchiladas with green sauce! The house margs were amazing, and the GM even let us taste a new ice cream that is coming soon that was insane. Cannot recommend El Taco enough!
It was my first visit and our server and food was amazing! I will be returning with more friends!
Always a dependable neighborhood option. Plenty of free parking which is always a plus; efficient service, and top notch cuisine.
It’s an average Mexican restaurant. Right down the middle. If it’s near by you, check it out. It’s not great not terrible. Just a salt of the earth, average, Mexican restaurant. Its the hotel room painting of Mexican cuisine.
Their margs are weird tbh. Their casa has lemon juice in it, and their skinny doesn’t have triple sec or combier.. so it’s leaves them tasting pretty tart.
Atmosphere is the selling point. Nice patio. Food was rather bland, tasteless. A place to go watch a game and eat appetizers, which are the best tasting things on the menu.
Why does it take SO LONG for El Taco to seat parties?? The past five times I have visited around 6:00pm, the host is on the phone or talking to someone. Takes easily 16 minutes to be seated (party of 2, or party of 4) and there is no one in the restaurant AND wait staff standing around! FIX THIS! Take the phone away from host, let someone else answer it….
Great food, the tacos and street corn are awesome! A quiet place. Server was not very attentive in checking drinks.
A few friends and I met for a Friday night dinner. It was great! I haven’t been in awhile due to covid and they definitely did not disappoint. The queso and tacos were delicious! They also always have a fun atmosphere with the wheel that they spin for a chance to win free food or drinks. Highly recommend!
The shrimp fajitas are amazing! So are the house margaritas! And our server was terrific! Highly recommend!
The trio of dips(salsa, guacamole and queso) was delish. Chips were a bit salty. We had a variety of tacos. Steak was the best but we liked all of them. Casa margarita was nothing special. Would eat there again.
El Taco never fails to be enjoyable! They have done a superb job of maintaining (even improving!) the food quality during COVID and have been a welcome "port" during these crazy times. A special thanks to Manager Eddie Romero for keeping everything going over the past year+. We visit almost every week and always enjoy!
Erica the bartender is the best server there. Very friendly and attentive. Food never disappoints.
server was fantastic and we had so much fun and incredible food. Her suggestions were right on!
Excellent service, delicious menu and energetic atmosphere. A neighborhood gem!
Friendly and efficient service, though would have loved to see more vegetarian options.
As always, wonderful food, delicious margaritas, and fabulous service. Ask for Kristen if she’s available - best service ever!!
This has become our favorite spot for Mexican food.
Delicious, sizzling steak and shrimp fajitas!
Great will go again
We were greeted and seated quickly. Our server checked in with us promptly, gave us a few minutes and then was back to take our drink and appetizer order. It was a very large platter of chips and salsa. She made recommendations and took our meal order which arrived within a reasonable time. Three people ordered the 3 taco meal with several different types of tacos. There were about 8 tacos to choose from and they came with a small bowl of rice and black beans. The fried chicken taco, the shrimp and the steak taco were the best although there was very little steak and one small chicken tender. The fish taco was very good as well. Two of us got the fried eggplant which was a total and complete disappointment! There was one 1/4” piece of eggplant that was about two inches long. We both chose to eat the piece without the tortilla as you couldn’t taste it otherwise. The 4th in our party got the steak and chicken fajitas. The steak was excellent. The chicken was nice and moist. There were very little in the way of condiments that it was difficult to make a good wrap. Overall it was a good experience but it was not high in the way of value. We will be looking for a better option.
Outstanding service, delicious tacos and an energetic atmosphere.
The food was plentiful and tasty. Wait staff friendly and efficient. Bit loud on the patio due to road noise but that’s to be expected
i went around 9 and they were already saying the kitchen was closing. food was so bland. no seasoning and food was also lukewarm like it was sitting under the light for someone to order it. so disappointed and the manager just was like “well what else do you want” smh
A true neighborhood gem! The perfect combination of consistently delicious food with superb service and an all-around great staff. If you really want to enjoy, ask for Kristen - the best waiter in the place.
Everything I’ve had is amazing !! I’ve had almost everything on the menu
Great food and service. First time at The Original El Taco and we will be back soon.
Food is delicious. Highly recommend. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great.
Extremely tasty food.
We made a reservation and was seated promptly. Our server Ron was ok at first. He didn’t enter the order correctly so our side dish came out first. Then our entree came out wrong too. Order steak we got shrimp. We do not eat shell fish. Quac is good but over priced at $9 for a tiny tiny dish. Avocados cost $.99 the salsa and chips were really good. Margaritas usually give me a buzz. Nothing!
He put the sizzling plate down next to me after clearing a space for him and burned me.
Manager came by super nice super understanding did great recovery but disappointed that Ron never came back to the table until we were leaving so we didn’t tip him. We believe that everyone working should be paid but after the mess up he never came back.
Mediocre food and mediocre service. The chard salad was excellent and the flank steak was terrible.
Food always good and getting better. Service uneven
This was our first of what we hope to be many more dining experiences at The Original El Taco on N. Highland Ave. The food was great, and the service awesome. It’s a great family neighborhood restaurant with ample free parking.
Service was very slow. But food and drinks were tasty!
This is typically our favorite restaurant in Atlanta. We decided to take some friends to celebrate a new job, but when we got there, were told that they could not be served alcohol because their IDs were vertical. They have both been of age for several years, and were not allowed to show a second form of ID. We were told this is a new rule across the entire restaurant group. However, it is not posted anywhere at the restaurant or on the website so there is no way to know this rule was to be enforced. Our waitress was gracious and accommodating as we were quite frustrated and disappointed. I have never witnessed an instance where two real IDs with additional forms of identification were denied service. As this was a celebration, it absolutely impacted our night. While I understand every business has the right to deny service in any form, rules such as this should absolutely be posted loud and clear.
Wanted to eat outside. Reservation accepted online but when we came we could not be seated outside. Service rather slow. Serving of guacamole tiny. Way way too loud. Not energetic just way too loud. Could hardly talk and hear person next to you. Food ok but not super. Had out of town guests and was very disappointed. Not an evening to talk and catch up. Wanted better
The service here was unbelievable. Will definitely be returning!
I selected this place based on an article listing the best margarita in Atlanta. Not only was the food good but the margaritas were the showstoppers. Thank you for the ambiance and great service.
great food and greattttt service. Chef was wonderful. One in our party has a soy allergy and she hand wrote out what could be ordered.
Great food and service. A neighborhood treasure!!!
