We love the original cottage inn and were happy to be back. The food was SLIGHTLY less outstanding than usual - the greek salad was made of spinach and arugula rather than romaine, pizza a little less crispy, - but overall it was great and we will definitely be back. COVID has been SO hard on restaurants I think they get an extra pass for not being at their very best. Happy to support our local community and enjoy great food!
Food was good, service was fast and attentive. Overall a great experience.
We usually sit in a booth but we were late for our reservation so we’re seated at the bar. We had a delightful experience interacting with the staff who , despite being extraordinarily busy, were very friendly and accommodating. As alway, our pizza and salads were SUPERB. Finished off a cold leftover slice last PM!!!!
We are long-time customers and we’re pleased to see that, despite the pandemic, the Inn has maintained their commitment to their great customer service standards and delicious food.
Excellent meal with an amazing server.
Our service was slooooow, but he seemed overwhelmed. Everyone was seated with plenty of space between tables, and the food was awsome as usual!
Always a good choice, reliable menu, excellent drinks reasonably priced ($8.50 for Hendrick's Gimlet). Staff always helpful, very polite
Service was incredibly slow...so much so we sent some stuff back because it took to long. Food was average.
Good food, reasonable prices, fast service, and good drinks
I have been dining at The Original Cottage Inn for over 30 years since I went to school in Ann Arbor and it is still a phenomenal experience!
Service was quite slow, but there were a few larger parties. We did have one member of our party who didn't receive her food until almost 25 minutes after the rest of us, but the waitress was very apologetic and attentive. The food was really good and the ambiance was great.
I hadn’t been to Cottage Inn downtown for about 25 years as I live in Alaska now. It was just as wonderful as I remembered. It used to be the place to go for date night in high school or college as it wasn’t too expensive and the food was always good. I found it to be just as warm and friendly as always and enjoyed ourselves so much we took other friends there the next night too before the symphony. Great food was had by all of us! Thank you for always being there for us Cottage Inn!
I've had Cottage Inn's pizza for years, but wanted to visit the original location. Service was good, but at times wondered where our waiter was. The food was great. Many with our group commented about it. We came a large group and I wasn't a fan of having two round tables put together. It appeared they had room for us at a long, rectangular table, but didn't place us there. I liked the character of the old place and did take a look around. I'd go again.
A busy night, but the speed and service was better than expected, and really good food. Definitely an Ann Arbor classic to enjoy!
Food was okay. Price reasonable but food did not over wow us
Great pizza as well as a variety of other dishes. Excellent clam chowder, and the lunch buffet of salads, soups, pizzas and other dishes for $18 for two is hard to beat! An iconic A2 restaurant with friendly service.
It was great and our server, Joe, was excellent
Great server, very accommodating. Great price break on our meal as well
The food was very good, as usual. But the wait was TERRIBLE. It took more than an hour for us to be served. Obviously you did not plan on the crowd that you should have expected with the AASO Christmas Sing and did not have enough cooks to serve that crowd. Shame on you!
I hate to say it, but we would never return here. We were on a special event night before seeing the symphony, taking extended family on a night out for the holidays. Our food order was wrong, two of our group didn’t get their food until just before we left, we had to alter an order because time was running out. They ended up just throwing some pasta and sauce on a plate - which wasn’t great and definitely not what was ordered but at least it was something to eat. Then they charged us for it. It was just unprofessional all around, and the food wasn’t good enough to make us beg for more. I don’t like leaving negative reviews but since it kind of ruined our one night out with our group, it’s a heads up for anyone else considering the same thing.
One of the better meals my friends and I have had at the Original Cottage Inn. The restaurant had a good selection of pastas, sandwiches, appetizers, all of which included vegetarian and vegan options. I enjoyed the chicken parmesan, which was especially good this time. It was too much for one serving; I enjoyed the rest of it for lunch the next day. Everyone else in our party took some of their order home, too.
My only complaint was with the billing. We had five people: a group of three and two singles. Neither the bar nor the restaurant seemed to be able to get the idea that the two of us were on our one. Both brought a single bill for the two of us. Wait staff should pay attention when people say they are singles or on a separate bill.
I’ve been a customer for 45 years. Every bit as good as it was in 1975. It’s no wonder they’ve more than doubled the seating since then.
a town classic, and always a great place for pizza on football saturday!
Went in after a football game with the reservation that had been made a week before. They were about 20 minutes late on the reservation and it took a long time to get our food order in, but other than that everything was excellent. I do highly recommend them. Our server Lauren was tremendous.
The food is really good. They have much more then pizza on the menu. I had a delicious pasta with grilled chicken. Someone at our table had a pizza with chicken. Someone else had a vegan meal. Our waiter was pleasant and considering we went on a football weekend, our food came quickly.
The restaurant was great. They do not usually take reservations on game days for Michigan football, but OpenTable saved us. We made a reservation earlier in the week and had no problem getting in and getting our table. The line was big and the wait was over an hour for just walk in. Food was hot and service was fast. Love this place!
Such a fun a welcoming place!! Good food & generous portions!
The main issue was the service. We had a large table and 2 dinners did not come until the other 10 had finished eating. We brought it up to the server who was apologetic but did not seem to speed up the orders.
It's a classic. Love the crust, the flavor. I never get anything but the pizza and it always delights.
Hometown favorite. Keep up good food!
seating arrangement was very cramped and un comfortable.
Food was very good! Serving sizes were quite large. Waiter was very friendly, yet gave us all the time we wanted to enjoy our dinner. Never felt rushed, but also never felt unattended. Nice mix. Lovely restaurant.
Hail to the management. They were very accommodating to get a table for 7 on football game day.
The Cottage Inn is one of our favorite places to visit in Ann Arbor. Once again the restaurant and the team that works there exceeded our expectations!
It would be a great place if there were more television screens throughout the restaurant.
Cottage Inn is one of the things I miss the most living in NC.
Best pizza ever
Best service ever
The service was *horrible* (we got our appetizer after our entrees as one example) but it was a new server so we don’t blame her. She obviously was not trained at all, and after speaking to the manager, who was very rude and condescending, we completely see where the problems stem from. The food was fine, typical Italian and the signature pizza, but I wouldn’t recommend this place until they get new management. We won’t be going back.
We love Cottage Inn and will be back but we didn’t have a good experience this visit. Our server wasn’t up to par. We waited a while for him to show up. Then he said he would be back with water. After 10 minutes he showed back up and left saying he forgot the water. My wife got a salad to start and I got a cup of soup. The soup came quickly but no salad no entree then came right away before I even started my soup. Still nothing for my wife. They brought our daughters sweet potato fries after being seasoned fried first. Then my wife’s salad finally showed up. Not the way things abound have gone. The food was all very good but not the experience. Half way though the meal our glasses of sangria also showed up.
The quality of my dinner and my waitress were not on par with what I have received in the past.
