   Our 4th or 5th time @ The Orange Squirrel and I have always loved it - but maybe Monday is not the best night to go there. This was the 2nd time they were out of the same wine on their list (only 2 Pinot Noirs to choose from) but the substitute they offered was pretty good. The cauliflower gazpacho was GREAT! But the Chicken put pie was really just chicken soup with a crust on it. And the espresso machine was not working . But it won't stop us from going back - looking forward to their cassoulet this winter. Better luck next time - I'm sure...

   We recently went to the restaurant on a late Thursday night. Overall, we had a good dining experience for my wife's birthday. The food was good, nice vibe and ambience and received some also a delicious comp appetizer. My only complaint is we clearly ordered the special steak dinner featured on the board after receiving a suggestion from the waiter. Due to a mix up, they brought us a different steak entree which my wife enjoyed. When I noticed the extra charge on the bill, I brought it to the attention of the waiter. They refused to make any adjustment. I did not want to complain in front of my family on her birthday for $10 but it left a bad taste with me and probably will not return because of this.

   We enjoyed a restaurant week menu. Price was great, food was excellent, portion were nice but service was spotty.

   The food was very tasty. The portions are tiny. I was still hungry after appetizer,main&dessert(I am only 125lbs). My date would have gladly shared another main course with me-but the rude,slow,uncaring staff never asked. THey didnt ask how our food was, if we wanted another drink (of course I wanted one!), or if we wanted coffee. JUst laid the check down when they cleared our table. I have worked as a waitress&barmaid. (Oh-yeah the entire wait staff was around the bartender chatting&it took almost 10/15min to get a drink in an empty restaurant). I spoke to others in Bloomfield (wondering if it was just me) many others have had the same experience there.

   This place was terrible!! There were 3 tables of people and waited over an hour for food. We felt like we were eating in a cafeteria!! Don't go!

   As a long time Bloomfield resident, it is somewhat embarrassing to report that my wife and I only recently stopped in for dinner at the Orange Squirrel for what turned out to be a most enjoyable dining experience. We were instantly greeted and escorted to a window table by our hostess and subsequently visited and greeted by Chef/Owner Franco Palmieri whose family roots are also in Bloomfield. Upon placing our orders, we were presented with a complimentary order of locally grown Tempura Zucchini Flowers - Delicately crunchy, flavorful and perfectly seasoned. Cauliflower Gazpacho was perfect for the warm summer night and featured a rich yet refreshing texture complimented by both pronounced and subtle flavor components. The Buffalo Caprese Salad was also delightful in its freshness of flavor deftly weaving the tastefully creamy, herbal,salty an acidic elements into a seamlessly sublime whole. Dry Aged Rib eye with Chipotle Butter and Garlic Confit came sliced and slightly sizzling in a cast iron skillet accompanied by my choice of Wilted Spinach as a side - another multi-dimensional flavor experience combining the luxuriously marbled and nutty Rib eye (and its drippings) coated with the silky & smoky Chipotle Butter and accentuated by the pleasingly slight bite of the tender Garlic Confit . I added my spinach to the skillet to soak up the combination of all that goodness without hesitation and the result was excellent. Ser vice was both friendly and attentive. We'll be back!

   The menu is fairly limited, but includes items that are prepared differently than other restaurants and are quite good. The service was very attentive and professional. The restaurant is very small with very simple furnishings. The prices tend to be on the high side.

   I was simply shocked by how good everything is at the Orange Squirrel... Its unassuming facade and location just adds to the surprises. The food was top notch - flavorful, innovative and make-you-smile satisfying. The service was personal, professional and comforting. My only disappointment was not finding this place years ago because it just became my new favorite restaurant. Bravo!!

    A great find, not where you might expect to find one. Overall, the Orange Squirrel is a great place. Rather on the cozy side, not too big or too small. I was surprised that there was only one server/hostess/bartender, but she did a good job keeping up. The food was outstanding - porterhouse steak was perfect, duck breast awesome. The appetizers were well done too. For a party of three, there were no scraps left. The food was just great. A bit on the pricey side, but every once in a while its well worth it.
