Sat at the bar waiting for our table ( we we’re early) and two drinks. Excellent drinks and enjoyed visiting with bartender. Very enjoyable!!
Fantastic! Loved our waiter, Eddie, and the food was out of this world.
We had a wonderful meal! Food was delicious, the service was fabulous!! This was my second time to eat dinner here and we enjoyed ourselves immensely!
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, music a little loud but other than that it was great. By the way, teach your servers how to pour beer into the glass, other than that great service as well!
For valentines day
We always enjoy The Oliver. It has great food, great drinks, and a very quaint atmosphere. My GF is Gluten-Free and we love the Fried Calamari appetizer, and she loves that she can eat fried food because it is made with chickpea flour! I would always recommend The Oliver.
Enjoyed a very nice Valentines Day dinner there last night and had a wonderful experience! There was no wait for our table upon arrival, the menu was unique and food was delicious. Servers were on top of it and seemed to enjoy being there. The room was an open floor plan, but the walls and ceiling were subtly covered with sound absorbing panels so the acoustics were fine for conversation with my wife despite my hearing loss. Meal for 2 including drinks and desert was $103. Would recommend this restaurant to others and eat there again.
Place is always special
Very nice place with neat decor. Solid food.
Great restaurant, great food, and fantastic ambiance. Would recommend for a date night good time
Great little spot with fantastic ambiance. Get the meat loaf.
Great service and food. I’ll be back for sure
Our first experience at The Oliver was really nice. The bartenders were awesome and the drinks were fabulous. Both of our entrees seemed a bit salty and the Amish chicken was somewhat dry. However, the atmosphere was great and we’ll give the food another try!
Nice restaurant but both the main courses were underwhelming. The leek fondue was worth it, but the Amish chicken (although the side that came with it was good) and the artichoke carbonara lacked flavor and were disappointing. Drinks were good, the service was great, and the restaurant has a good vibe.
But, when you decide to not take the leftovers with you (and we had plenty) then the dishes have issues.
The Oliver is consistently good and has a nice unique menu.
Fantastic. Great food. First time in Kcmo and Needed brunch before flight. Only half mile from hotel and was perfect and delicious
The restaurant was lively and loud. The chairs are quite low and are uncomfortable. I sat in a booth the last time I was there and didnt realize the chairs we so low.
Our waiter was quite busy and kept reaching across me to pour water for the table. I blame the management for improper training.
Our meal was great!
Shrimp and grits were fabulous. For dessert the Berry Crisp was also out of site. One of our favorite restaurants!
After coming to the Oliver several times, we brought another couple so the wives could celebrate their birthdays. And celebrate they did! From the pork fitter appetizers to the lemon pie desert, everyone was extremely pleased. The meatloaf was fantastic as was the chicken fried chicken, and our guests were impressed with the whole dinner. Kale, our server, did an great job of keeping us informed and satisfied. We look forward to our return.
Great experience. Cocktails were excellent and most of all the food was not salty. This tells me the food is prepared with care
A friend chose this as our dinner outing for girls night, and I was wanting to try as well. I had the planters punch which was great. Not too sweet and just enough alcohol to have with dinner. Ordered the chickpea calamari; it was nice for a different flour based type of calamari, however, I wasn't overly impressed with it.
I also ordered roasted chicken with the cauliflower rice, and it definitely was nicely presented and good portion size.
The Oliver is a hidden gem in the plaza area. We were able to get in on short notice and had excellent service our entire time. Our waiter went above and beyond when we informed him of a food allergy and was prompt with service. We will definitely return
Really dark and very noisy but the food was great just bring a flashlight.
Our service was great! The food is wonderful and the cocktails were delicious!
It was our first time there, and the ambiance was great! The food was pretty good as well! I would like to come back for brunch!
First time there, during restaurant week so probably shouldn’t judge. I had hanger steak with
mashed potatoes, it was cool but good. Hubs salmon was hot and delicious.
Will give it another try.
We had an exceptional experience at The Oliver. We were there late on an afternoon so it was not yet crowded. It was full by the time we left. Food and drink were very good. Prices were reasonable. We will be back.
Great food, great service, and great atmosphere! Will definitely be back!
Nice place for upscaley American. Good ambiance. The cocktails are great. Liked the drinks/appetizers better than my actual entree. That said, the hangar steak is quite good and the caveman chicken was decent. The dessert was a bit of a let down. I'd go back for a couple more cocktails and some pork nuggets.
Nice Place really good menu
This was our first time but it will not be the last. The BG salad was one of the best salads I have ever had.
Had the restaurant week specials and everyone enjoyed.
Great ambiance all around. Came here with a group and the waiter was quick and food was delicious.
We went for restaurant week lunch and it was fabulous! We will be back
Went for Restaurant Week. Great experience. My family tried all of the dishes and everything was great. The caveman chicken was the favorite. Hanger steak had great flavor. The salads and the pork nuggets were delicious and the deserts were superb. The lemon was the favorite. It was our first time and we will be back.
Went for first time during restaurant week. Salmon was perfect, veggies were not. Overall our party of 4 will probably not return.
The Oliver has become one of our favorite places when we are in the mood to venture to the Plaza area. The food is well-prepared, at a fair pricepoint, and the service is great.
Great food and atmosphere. Casual yet upscale. We will definitely go back!
Tried The Oliver for the first time during KC Restaurant Week. The menu options were diverse and creative. Everything my husband and I chose was prepared to perfection, and the taste was outstanding! Cocktails were a perfect addition. Will definitely return for future date nights.
