The Olde Bell's kitchen is in the charge of a new team! We have Warren Geraghty as Executive Chef, James Ferguson as Head Chef and Jason Farr as Pastry Chef, cooking simple, rustic, fantastic quality food which displays a generosity of spirit in both flavour and portions.
Much time and effort has gone into sourcing and building relationships with local farmers and producers of the best ingredients, creating seasonal and constantly changing menus. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (excluding Sunday night) while the bar serves food daily from noon until 10pm.

Great food, v poor service. Having stayed and eaten here numerous times over the last 10 years I must admit I was hugely disappointed. Food was good but service from start to end not great. Lowlights as follows, forgot part of my wife’s order completely, forgot part of my order and delivered 3/4s way through the meal. Had to ask two separate waiting staff for drinks. Response to asking for horseradish sauce with my roast beef was a shrug form the waiter (eventually got it). No staff gave us salt and pepper and after waiting for 5 minutes had to go and scour some from other tables (ridiculous). Lastly, after paying £100 for meal (2 adults and 2 children). My wife and children (not me) where accousted in the car park and told that they shouldn’t park in the hotel car park if we didn’t use the Hotel - I let the employee (I assume that employee but unsure as was in painting overalls) know we’d just eaten in the hotel - no apology (and to be fair other than seeing us walk out of the hotel how would he know - other than he saw us walk out of the hotel!). Would just say, our experience by other people having a drink - ‘good food, poor sevice’

Their lunch menu states either a 2 or 3 course set price menu albeit a sample menu. We were told that they did not do a 2 or 3 course set price lunch menu. Very disappointed with that, we also found that the service was very slow. But the food was hot and tasty. Menu quite limited for choice.

We stayed at The Olde Bell for a shared birthday weekend after I had been lucky enough to stay for work a number of times previously. Rooms were lovely as usual as were staff. Food was ok... had a Saturday supper in the bar. Not much atmosphere although lovely surroundings as bar was empty except for us. Food was pub fare ... filled a gap but not outstanding.

Lovely. The maitre ‘d was so nice. Really professional without being too stuffy. Dinner was really good. Breakfast was good, quality sausages and bacon. Can’t fault anything. The bed was really comfortable. Lovely garden with outside kitchen in the summer.

Reading very recent reviews we were apprehensive about the service but everything was very nice. Service was efficient and friendly and we had a 3 course meal within 90mins in a lovely setting. Although the menu is limited, the actual food is excellent.

Great setting, sadly rubbish food & appalling service. Apparently the staff at The Olde Bell, Hurley all walked out a few weeks ago (Sept 17) & I can completely understand the reasons why. Now being run by agency staff who are doing their best, but still no cohesion or plan for exceptional food or service. Avoid going until management have sorted out this mess.

Awful. A large wedding was ongoing when we arrived and all competent staff appear to have decamped to that. Only people left didn't know what they were doing - didn't know which wines were red and which white. When our starters had not arrived 40 mins after ordering I enquired and was told they had not been prepared as there was no one in the kitchen. Presumably they were all at the wedding. Complete neglect of people from whom they had taken bookings. We left. Our custom was not valued. Don't bother - we won't again.

It's such a shame the Olde Bell has gone downhill since it was bought out. The place is a total shambles – not enough staff, and those who are left are suffering as a result. Service is badly executed; it's slow and the whole experience is rather frustrating. The food was terrible too, and not cheap. Staying there a few months ago was OK, but the place is barely hanging together and almost unrecognisable from the original vision. I hope they can return it to what it once was, it's a great spot, lovely premises and deserves to be run with passion and care. I won't be going back unless I hear things have changed for the better.

The service was laughable, to the point where all the tables in the restaurant were joking about it together. A bottle of wine was plonked on the table and the waitress appeared unaware it had to be opened; the menus we were given were not the same; it took two hours between starter and main course - I could go on. All took place with good humour though and the food was excellent when it arrived.
