   Nipped in for Saturday tea very nice welcome on arrival. Both had one of the specials....great decision as the food was really good and nothing was too much trouble for the staff ...thank you

   Food was good. Setting was nice. Lovely beer garden on side of canal. Service was rubbish. 2 hours 2 courses family of 4. No explanation or apology for slow service. Sat down for 10mins without menus. Wasn’t overly busy

   We had a lovely lunch at the Boathouse on Monday. They were short staffed due to Covid so we had a little wait but it didn’t matter we were in no rush. Food was good and excellent value for money it was a shame that people were having to be turned away. Even though they were very busy the staff were very efficient and our waitress was so pleasant too

   Family Festive meal. You couldn't get four more fussy people all on one table. However, the food was brilliant, the service was friendly and unrushed. All four of us enjoyed the evening and will definitely be back. I would certainly recommend the steak (and I'm really fussy about how my steak is cooked). Veg that actually tasted of veg and not the usual slurry you get in pubs.

   Waited 1 1/4 hours for food. Booked set meals. Some specified items missing on meals. No dessert on one choice despite pre ordering? The staff did accommodate this eventually and made one which would have been better to offer rather than just state no dessert!! Food was hot and good despite the hiccups

    Not been to the boat house for a couple of years and last time it wasn’t as good but this time we found it back to its usual standard. I had the famous steak and ale pie my husband hunters chicken and it was delicious, only thing I would say is you don’t get as much veg only served with peas. They do a very good Zinfandel at a reasonable price. Toilets extremely clean and we look forward to another visit in the summer.

    have eaten here a lot over the years but was disappointed by the food this time the menu is very small also ! I ordered ribeye steak which was very poor and full of gristle my son had the pizza and it looked like it had been microwaved as it was sloppy and very greasy and he didn't enjoy it at all .also the pricing seems to have increased

    We love to eat at the boathouse but on the last few visits it’s disappointing to be told on arrival that there are several items from the already limited menu that are not available. The pub is unusually quiet these days which reduces the overall atmosphere. The prices of quite a few items are approx £2 overpriced for the portion size. Hopefully we might see some improvements in the near future and we will absolutely continue to support The Old Boathouse

    Despite the pub being fairly quiet the service was slow and the staff needed prompting to take drinks orders etc. The staff were pleasant and helpful when asked but needed some stronger leadership in front of house. We were advised 2 meals (50%) off the November specials board were not available which is a little disappointing. When the food did arrive it was hot and tasty and there was a good choice in the menu. There is also a nice choice of drinks which do however seem a little pricey for a local pub. Overall a nice evening.

    We hadn't visited for a while so we were very much looking forward to going. The decor and ambience were relaxed and inviting and instantly made you relax. We had starters and mains which were both really tasty although could have been a little hotter. There were only two of us so the service was very good and we didn't have to wait too long- just the right amount. We did notice a larger party of 8 who asked 3 times how long their food was going to be.

    Been here many times. Think it's recently changed hands. I love the decor and relaxed dining. I enjoyed the food, a little strange in some of the new ideas, but they're getting there. I had flat iron steak medium/well done which was really tasty but my hubby had rib eye, medium but it was rare and tough as old boots he said. He still ate it though. He wasn't impressed by the skin on chips either and there wasn't another chip option. Men! The card machine didn't work so they wanted us to check our bank account whilst we were there but couldn't get any signal. The machine worked after 3 attempts and 15 mins later, there was no option for a tip on the machine and we had no cash on us. They've done the outside up lovely now and that makes for a great outdoor dining experience, right next to the canal too, but if you're driving you need to be aware that at busy times you might not be able to park. We went on Bonfire night but it was full of people who had come to watch the local display at the museum and not necessarily for the pub, we got the last place. On the whole I really like it, they often have acts on too. Could do with a few more ladies toilets!!

    It was easy to book the table online. The service was excellent and the food was extremely good quality - just like a home cooked roast dinner. Nice to have different options with the roast dinners, and the belly pork was delicious.

    Visited with elderly parents for their 68th anniversary . Pub was bright and warm , was welcomed warmly by a lovely man who seated us and brought us a glass of Prosecco, nice touch . Pub was busy , and the waiting staff seemed very young but they were so friendly and efficient, well done . We had a long wait for food , but it was ok as it was relaxed. Food was ok , not amazing so I suggest a bit of work to make the food wow ! If you do that , it would be a great place to eat

    Travelled here from Staffordshire as been before and was excellent. On arrival noticed menu choice had massively shrunk. It appears that Punch Pubs have taken over the venue, shrunk the menu and increased the prices. No longer a winner for me and definitely not worth the journey! Pub was empty.

    Had (again) the amazing duck on a bun starter. Then we both had fish and chips which as enormous portion and the thickest whitest fish I have had in ages. No room for dessert !! Much better atmosphere as there were quite a few in that night. Menu still limited and pricey but enjoyed the visit 👍👍

    Will go back and thoroughly recommend. One small criticism is that drink service was quite slow. Other than that, everything was excellent. Waiting staff very young but obviously well trained. Attentive and good eye contact

    Unusually quiet for evening time and therefore no atmosphere. Customer service ok but one member of staff never spoke?? 2 others were spot on. Menu remains limited. Main meal ok but overcooked. We will still go back though.
