The Oarsman is a contemporary Bistro and Pub on Spittal Street in Marlow.

For lunch and dinner, we serve bistro style, seasonal dishes from the open kitchen and small plates from the charcuterie and larder counter.

Seasonal dishes are created by award winning Head Chef Scott Smith. Under Scott's helm The Oarsman is rapidly achieving accolades and recently had won Newcomer of the Year 2023 by Top50Gastropubs by Estrella Damm.

We have created an extensive list of fine and rare wines, as well as a wide range of wines by the glass. It might appear a bit bonkers, but that’s half the fun, there are over 300 wines, more than 200 grape varieties from forty plus countries, the quandary is, if we don’t list them, you can’t try them – so let’s be a bit bonkers.

All are farmed sustainably, most organically a good deal biodynamically and much with minimal intervention.

We have a strong environmental ethos and support local suppliers where possible to serve the finest, seasonal produce.

    We are regular visitors to Marlow but this is the first time eating at the Oarsman. Nice enough menu but a bit on the pricier side for what you get. My wife ordered the steak and was advised it would come medium rare which she is fine with. However the steak was more on the rare side and even with a steak knife she couldn’t cut it easily. The waitress noticed and apologised. Would have expected one of our desserts or maybe our two glasses of wine to be taken off the bill but sadly not. Like I said nice enough but won’t be returning.

    We had a load of small plates food was very good , the only downside was the food was very salty too over powering , i do like salt but that was way over shame as the food was lovely and presented perfect

    Innovative menu, food more than acceptable, downstairs restaurant is in a pub. Would return it's different and fun.

    We had chicken parfait to start with the budget was on was stale the pate chicken was really nice with the grapes many different maincourse we had chicken leg roast to say disappointing it was on the menu it did say chicken leg but the size of it could be much bigger and it was a bit dry with vegetables and the roast potato crispy potato was deafly different and quite nic my roast beef was actually cooked very well pink gin, vegetables potatoes are great Yorkshire pudding was quite light. Grey was nice. We shared a desert rhubarb Yorkshire Pavlova Pavlova was brilliant but the rhubarb was lacking and Flavin sweetness and black and amount as well. Could be just a error for us on that day. Things can go wrong, no one actually checked how our food or asked us the question hello how was everything at the table check to be honest which maybe they should've done all them I've known would consider going back one more time to see how it turns out to be, but you are paying the price
