We got our food before silverware and napkins. Had to wait until we caught someone walking by to get utensils which took longer than it should have. The $23 shrimp cocktail was rubbery and had basically a splash of cocktail sauce. We had to ask for more dressing for our wedge salad too because it was super dry. We ordered our steak medium and it came rare enough to bleed over the mashed potatoes it was perched on. It tasted good but eating pink potatoes is a little off putting. I don’t think rare steak should be served on top of mash. It also came with grilled asparagus that was delicious but not cut properly so 1/3 of it was inedible. Overall, it was a decent experience because the ambiance is great but felt a little like a teenager was running the kitchen and our bill was way too high for the food we were served. I’d still go back for brunch but not dinner. Duck pond is so fun!
Lovely setting, delicious food, outstanding service. Screaming child at another table was the only negative.
Had a very nice Saturday brunch at The Oaks at Lakeside. Service, ambiance, and food was just perfect! The only noise was from this couple of geese, who were not shy at all about asking for some crumbles, they were too cute to be mad at:) They had vegan options on the menu, and the waitress was very nice explaining other possible substitutions, which I really appreciated. My friend didn’t care for tiramisu, and it was taken off the bill, great customer service. Definitely will be back!
Great ambiance, great food, great service. Highly recommend
January 14 12:30 lunch. Food has improved 100% since new owners took over. There were 3 of us each ordered a different dish and each really liked them. I had the portobello mushroom dish which was very good. One friend ordered a burger and one the shrimp pasta. The waitress was outstanding. I would now recommend it although prices have gone up quite a bit.
This place is delightful. It has upgraded to home made gnocchi and a nice selection of vegan options. the wine list is really good. The ambiance is bar none.
The menu on open table is not updated, the menu is completely different in the restaurant. Kids menu has only 3 items to choose from. The food is plain and overpriced.
A lovely meal under the oak trees, with ducks honking in the background. Service was outstanding and included the relocation of a heater to keep our table toasty. The menu had limited offerings, but the kitchen agreeably concocted an off-menu sandwich for two guests. All in all, a lovely lunchtime experience.
The ambience was nice until a disgruntled cook decided to have a shouting match with the kitchen staff in the middle of our meal. He stomped out with a few F bombs after being fired on the spot. The service was very good and attentive. The food was ok. I had chicken Milanese which arrived buried under a mound of limp arugula. Underneath all the vegetation was a piece of chicken about 4 inches by 5 inches... nothing else. It was a very lame-looking uninviting presentation and not even close to the $30 price tag for about 20 cents worth of arugula and probably $1 worth of chicken. The only plus was that the $8 valet fee to park was apparently not in effect so I saved the 8 bucks. This place is under new management/ownership and probably is going through a lot of growing pains, in addition to clearly having difficulty getting good kitchen help. All in all I'd not return for about a year until they get their act in order. On a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being the best, I'd give this place a 2.
The Oaks is great! I enjoyed my first visit very much.
They are very Covid aware etc and great food
Wait staff was top notch; friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
We had our annual Christmas dinner!
The valet parking costs way too much for what I think Valet parking should be.
Seemed low staffed, timing was off, food was just ok.
I have been to this restaurant many times. This time was not even close to the former level. Prices are through the roof - I realize everything is more expensive now, but $36 for chicken and pasta? I had a burger and two glasses of ok wine. Before tip my bill was $58. Service was dreadful. After being seated we had to flag down the hostess after about 20 minutes of no one coming over to take even drink order. When we finally ordered drinks, it took another 10-15 minutes to come. This was the theme throughout our meal. (our second drinks, same thing)
I do realize that it's difficult to staff restaurants right now, but if you cannot service your customers, don't take more reservations than you can handle.
Ari was the best server! Never waited for anything. The food was so great we actually ordered a second round of food. The huevos rancheros was delicious, but a little on the smaller portion side. The pancakes were our favorite and the maple syrup was so good on top. Had a really fun brunch and would recommend to anyone!
Although OpenTable took the reservation, and the restaurants website is still around, we showed up for a reservation in the building was locked up tight with no indication that they were open or ever would be
Was lovely sitting outside on a cool night with heaters. Excellent service and ambiance, food was quite good
What a lovely setting beside a lake filled with real geese and ducks! What a treat in comparison with most restaurants! Food and service was far far above average, and in this setting I would return again and again!
The food was absolutely amazing. We loved our server. The only thing is we got an order of onion rings & they were NOT good
Love the Oaks at Lakeside especially for the lake outside. So beautiful and with a great staff and delicious food. Best Brunch around 👍
Last time we were there for the brunch, we had absolutely an outstanding waiter. He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and satisfied 👍🙏🏼
Used to go here often when it was Lakeside Cafe. The rebranding and new menu makes me miss the old. The place was empty, and I think it could have to do with the outrageous prices. It's not fine dining, it's comfortable. But they price it like it's a Beverly Hills hot spot. $25 for a hamburger! Not even a cheese burger, that's extra! There are several places nearby you can get a better burger for less than half that. Long time regulars at the old place... one and done at the new one. Way overpriced for the location, food, and vibe.
It was a beautiful afternoon, having lunch with my friends, food was awesome, the service was great, totally recommend going there.
The heater wasn’t fully functioning and I was freezing
This was my third time at this restaurant. All three times not only was the service slow but it was inept and disorganized. Drink service was very slow. Then we had to ask to be served. We had to ask 2 or 3 timesfor salt. One lady in our party had her lunch brought about 15 minutes after the rest of us had ours. And we had to ask for our second dessert. All added up to decision NO TO RETURN.
Gross. Go else where
Our only observation was that the music could drop the beat to more match the ambiance ~
Nice afternoon brunch
Always fun! The geese and ducks were great company! Our grandson got to feed them right out of his hand😉
The food was wonderful....and our waiter (Trevor) was a doll.
However, when you order an appetizer and dinner.....you should get the appetizer FIRST. Not have it delivered with one of the dinners....then have the waitress disappear and return later with the other meal. Also, we asked for additional dressing and never saw her again. We had to ask Trevor when we saw him. He doubled as bartender.
The flower vase on the table had no water in it.....the silverware was dirty.
BUT....the food was very good. We gave our "issues" to Trevor, and we will return....but if there are issues again, we will not come back. There are too many other restaurants to choose from.
The menu is limited to brunch on Saturdays. Three guests ordered Eggs Benedict and loved their food. Three others ordered salads and were very disappointed because salami was the only protein offered without an upcharge. If we wanted to change the meat to chicken it would cost an additional $8. Knowing that, we dared not ask the price to substitute salami for salmon!
Their Valet Parking has been increased to $8 as well.
These are things to consider when dining on weekends.
It was a great experience and we loved the food, ambiance and location. However I wished they had notified our server about my wife’s birthday
We had an absolutely wonderful time. Service was excellent, our server Maddie was very entertaining and made the whole experience that much better.
I'm a frequent customer...unfortunately...our waitress kept us waiting and did not check in with us...left bill and walked away...my daughter tracked her down to process our payment. I truly felt service was not the best...waitress could have had toooo many tables to cover...
Our group of four went for lunch on Sunday. We reserved a table outside by the duck pond. We felt like there was a lot of space between tables and felt safe to remove our masks. The waiter was very nice and friendly. The food was just okay, especially for the price. Menu was reduced to just the brunch menu. But, overall we probably paid for the ambiance and not the food. Would come again, but not for the brunch menu.
Great ambiance! Food is good but not outstanding. Service prompt and efficient.
We made open-table reservations for a birthday party of 4 and were very pleased to be seated immediately outside, as requested. The lake view was stunning with ducks and geese just doing their thing. The weather was excellent! From there on forward, the evening was a disaster!!! We had to flag someone down for a good 30 minutes to get started with drinks. We waited another 30 minutes to receive our drinks. Once the drinks arrived, we ordered an appetizer, which we had to ask about two times! One of our drinks was incorrectly delivered. It took another 20 minutes before we decided to go to the bar to ask for the correct drink. Another 15 minutes before the correct drink arrived so that we could toast the birthday girl! Meanwhile, a dog at the table near us was barking incessantly, ruining the whole atmosphere! We couldn’t believe this was happening. We decided to order dinner right away, knowing that it would take longer than expected. After placing our order, we were left to wilt again for 30 minutes until we inquired about our dinner. We ordered another appetizer to hold us over. Meanwhile, another party walked in with a dog who started barking at the original barking dog. None of the staff bat an eyelash! Dinner finally arrived and my son couldn’t eat his Chicken Parmesan because it tasted microwaved , not fresh. My husband’s Chicken Marsala was rubbery! No one paid attention to us the rest of the time. We had to beg for the check, and we couldn’t wait to get out of this noisy inattentive environment! We were billed for our cocktails at the non-happy hour rate. The only saving grace was a courteous and respectful server, Andrea. This was not enough to save this unpleasant evening, and convinced us all never to return again. We had dined here before, with similar issues, but this experience was the last nail in the coffin! What a shame for such a beautiful setting. We have given this restaurant so many opportunities, but not worth it anymore. Good luck!
Overall very good.
Such a charming and wonderful place. The service and food were great. My friends and I agreed that we will have more get togethers here.
