   Good bar, yummy cocktails, nice servers, the brunch was enjoyable but it gets so loud. I wish they had some background music to bring the voices down a bit. At some point we had to shout so we can hear each other. We wanted to sit in the garden but it was impossible due to the rain. Next time I’m coming I would prefer the outdoor by the lake since the inside gets too loud on busy days.

   What a find by my wife. All my years working in the valley NEVER knew about this place. A very good happy hour and a very good entre menu. Staff very friendly. We will be back!!

   Went to the Sunday Brunch. We were rushed out in 90 minutes. Perhaps that is the length allowed for a table for three? Maybe I didn't check the "fine print." Food was sub-par. Eggs overcooked, hash browns sitting in oil and fried to a crisp, bacon over cooked and not crisp (as requested.) When I asked the waited to take a picture of the three of us he was clearly put off.

   Excellent experience. Great Ambience on the lake. Great service. Great food. We lucked out on a Saturday during happy hour. Happy Hour Fish Tacos were amazing and so were the kids chicken tenders. We just weren't crazy about the meatball served during happy hour because meat could have been cooked a little more and I wouldn't have drenched the marinara sauce on the mashed potatoes. I would have served the sauce over the meatball and left the potatoes without the sauce around it. Thats the only reason we didn't give it a 5 for food.

    Another great lunch and food and wine were spot on...great quiet table in the corner. Server was rushing us a little until we asked him to slow down...not like the place was packed.

    I love Mackiney. He is the best! Both food quality and service are up from last time we were there. Used to come almost every Sunday with my husband. We also had our company Christmas party here, actually twice. Then, when the restaurant reopened after COVID, it was pretty bad (price went up drastically but both service and food were down so badly) that we said to ourselves not to come back. Now that we see it is getting better, we will come back. It's a nice local place to relax on the weekend, entertain guests, having a gathering, etc. Just hope you have more small dishes as before COVID.

    My girlfriend was happy with the whole experience eventhough her New York Stake was under cooked. The service was outstanding especially the server/waitress. She was amazing . Overall great Valentines Day and most important my girlfriend was Happy.

    The outdoor setting of THE OAKS AT LAKESIDE is so lovely and peaceful. Yet, with the presence of waterfowl on and around the lake, it’s sufficiently fun, intriguing and engaging for children, when dining al fresco. (We don’t care for the interior, however. It’s dark and not well-furnished/designed.) The food is dependably good and reasonably priced. And the service is usually very good. Our server last Friday was WONDERFUL! Sadly, I didn’t take not of his name, so cannot commend him personally. But, he was considerate, patient with our special requests and could not have been more pleasant. We are appreciative of his efforts on our behalf. We highly recommend THE OAKS for lunch. The dinner menu is good as well. Just wish the dining room was more inviting.

    Gorgeous ambience, delicious food, and great service! This is the first time I have been there since they remodeled a couple of years ago. I love how they have extended the covered patio, and now the entrance is off of a side street instead of Ventura Blvd. It is beautiful! I liked the restaurant before and I love it now!

    We have been enjoying this totally charming lakeside tree- filled space for a few months now on a weekly basis! We ladies over 50 enjoy everything! Service, food, price - and atmosphere - even the loud geese - sometimes!

    We love the Oaks at Lakeside! The food is always great and its like a hidden oasis right there in the middle of Ventura--you can't tell that street is so close because the beautiful setting/duck pond keep your mind elsewhere!

    We decided to dine here on New Years Eve for our 10th Anniversary celebration. Yes we had a New Years Eve Party Wedding... We had always wanted to eat here but never had, so we were trying something new for our special night. My rating would have been much higher if not for a few issues. The food we had was quite good, and the staff was very nice to us, The problems mostly occurred previous to our arrival. The restaurant was having a special New Years Eve Prix Fixe Menu for $100 per person. They had 3 seatings at 6, 8 & 9 PM. I called to find out details of the event. It was explained to me that all seatings were exactly the same except if you come at 6, you would be timed to 2 hours, and had to finish by 8 PM. Because of that, you would save $20 per person, so it would be $80 per person. I asked a few times if the meal was exactly the same, and was told "Yes" multiple times on this call and a follow up call to confirm the reservation. During dining, I found it odd and disappointing that our "Crab Cakes" appetizer had only 1 Crab Cake each. And I asked if the restaurant would be doing anything special for our big anniversary, and they said "Sure, we will include an additional dessert." Well, the restaurant did nothing for us. However, our waiter was generous with the included Champagne, so I give him credit for that. So, after we had finished dinner and paid, at around 8 PM, the next seating was arriving and as we were leaving, their food started to arrive. Well, they received a nice basket of bread... we did not. Then they received a giant appetizer consisting of 2 Crab Cakes, in a completely different presentation!? I was like, what the ....! Why was I lied to? I understand I paid a little less, but I was completely misled as to what I was paying for. Also, due to the rain, I asked if it was pleasant to be there during the rain, and was assured a lovely view... not the ugly plastic curtains that were there... Overall, this disappointed.

    Overly loud music … we asked repeatedly to turn it down - unresponsive to our requests. Almost ruined our gathering - greatly diminished our ability to converse - moved to a back table to avoid noise — missed the lake - did not help with noisy music
