Lovely atmosphere, some children running around, but hey we're in the middle of a zoo. Definitely recommend it. food delicious
Service was a bit slow maybe due to staff shortages in the kitchen, however there was a lot of waiting staff that didn't do a lot. for example the person bringing the food from the kitchen had to also get the cutlery and the condiments and he wasn't out waiter. Our waitress was just standing by the till with a number of other staff letting the new waiter do all the work she should have already done.
I would have tipped the new waiter but you don't allow cashless gratuities, which is a shame.
Excellent food & fantastic service as always. Staff are always helpful and can’t do enough to help
Birthday treat. Greeted immediately, taken to our table. Friendly and efficient service. Good food and value for money.
Delicious fresh food. Great service. Value for money. Definately will go again
Really enjoyed my visit I had tacos the meat was quite tough
Fantastic service and very good food. Would highly recommend!
Beautiful surroundings, excellent service, from staff. Lively food. Can't wait to visit again.
Very impress with the service food was good nice pleasant restaurant. Would definitely visit again
Even though they were very busy the service was outstanding. The food was perfect
Excellent quality of food. Service was brilliant from all members of staff. Such a lovely place to eat and get away from the hustle and bustle of the zoo
Food was excellent and staff were great despite being busy!
Waited half hour for drinks. Asked waitress for sauce and she didn’t return, had to ask another waitress 15 minutes after by which time our food went cold. Food was slightly more expensive than I envisioned.
Excellent food service fine at the beginning was slow as the restaurant filled up but could have been to circumstances at present (people being having to isolate).
Would certainly recommend
Great food and excellent service. Great location for a pit stop in the middle of the zoo. Well worth a visit
Very nice, very friendly and true value for money. Highly recommended. Only thing is there was not a lot of gluten free choice.
My grandson and I had lunch sitting in the terrace. It was excellent.
Most of the dishes were lovely - however the grilled prawns on bruschetta small plate was truly awful and I had to leave most of it. We had visited for my daughter's birthday, so I didn't want to raise this at the time and dampen the occasion. The Oakfield may want to rethink this dish/the description on the menu. Mostly, I thought it was an odd choice at a zoo to have food that stared up at you from the plate. It was also very messy to eat and lacked a water bowl to wash fingers. It was served not on crunchy bruscetta, but on wet bread which was saturated with oil and therefore soggy and edible due to the bits of legs and shell clinging to it. An expensive mistake! The pesto pate and deconstructed rost peach crumble were lovely but we might take a picnic to the zoo next time!
Overall, we all enjoyed it. It was a blowing hot day, which obviously you didn’t have any influence over, & so the conservatory felt very warm and airless, despite the windows being open. There wasn’t really anything on the menu I fancied due to the heat but my fellow guests thoroughly enjoyed it.
The staff coped amazingly in the warm environment and they kept the bottles of water coming!
Would come again.
Wonderful place to eat, wonderful food and great service.. all I would say is it was really hot also we weren’t asked for our membership cards and so missed out on a discount which would have been nice so Iv knocked a star off for that.
Ordered steak burger and chips would say it wasnt worth £15. Burger was mushy and chips had been re fried nothing tasted fresh.
We love eating at The Oakfield Restaurant and would always recommend it.
Lovely venue to recharge the batteries after a couple of hours of walking around the zoo - staff very attentive and friendly.
Food was ok.
My son and i went for lunch here as a treat rather than take a picnic to the zoo. Service was good and our drinks and food arrived soon after order. The food was lovely. Would definitely return soon i hope!
Excellent food and service. A welcome relief from the heat outside.
Took my husband for his 60th birthday. The food was beautiful, the service excellent. Will definitely be booking again.
Loved the relaxed atmosphere. Also the mushroom tacos were lush.
Excellent staff, very helpful and friendly. Good value food. Nice Atrium or outdoor seating available.
The table where we were sitting was by the walkway from reception to the conservatory
My chair was so close to people passing behind me which made me very wary of being so close to people
l did mention it to the young lady at reception as there was another way in from the bar area to the conservatory but it did not seem to make any difference
I know rules have been relaxed but I would not want to come again until the tables were more spread out
Haddock was hot and tasty but rest of food was lukewarm and lacking in flavour. Chips appeared to have been waiting some time before being plated. They were dry and just warm. Mostly scraps rather than full chips.
Pate needed seasoning and was quite dry.
Staff serving us did not know what the sauce was that was served with the asparagus.
Sadly, I would not eat here again. Not value for money.
Lovely food and great value for money. Would go again
Amazing lunch at The Oakfield, sat outside on the patio and even though it was a very hot day it was really comfortable in the shade of the parasols. Food was brilliant, great value for money and service from Rachel was sublime! Made our day extra special
We booked the Oakfield for a special birthday lunch and it didn’t disappoint! The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was fabulous!
Beautiful surroundings, food good quality. Happy to recommend
Amazing place to eat, beautiful setting couldn’t fault it for family birthday celebration.
I don't think we were given the right menu as there was only the starters and Sunday roasts on the menu. But this cut down the thinking time for ordering.
They had run out of the J20 that one of my daughter's had ordered but she really enjoyed her apple juice replacement. My husband ordered a dead pony beer which was lush and obviously something a little bit different!
We ordered two starters, an adult roast and then two children's meals.
The meals arrived really quickly, and were obviously really fresh, the portion sizes were super generous and were all super tasty. I though my eldest might regret ordering fish & chips rather than a roast but it turned out to be the best she's ever had!
My husband's prawns looked gorgeous and I'm not even keen on prawns. The baked camembert was to die for!
It would have been a five for the food but there was no brocolli on the roasts and the beef on my roast was very similar to the sandwich beef that we buy from tesco-compared to the gorgeous thick slice of tenderloin pork that came on the children's roast it was just a bit underwhelming, and I couldn't really place exactly what the puree was, it didn't taste great. I felt a little disappointed and seriously envious of everyone else's meals. The roast potatoes and gravy were gorgeous though.
We were sat next to a speaker in the corner of a room and, not to sound like a 60-year old man but it was on the loud side. Lenny Kravitz's American Woman blaring in the background really didn't create the right atmosphere for Sunday lunch!
This was our first time in a restaurant for over a year so since I didn't have to cook or clean up afterwards it was always going to be great, but I think I've forgotten what to expect from eating out as I expected more 😂
Beautiful rooms in this restaurant. A real haven from the the very hot day that we visited the zoo. Prices are reasonable and the puddings sublime.
Very pleasant atmosphere, lovely food, great drinks selection.
Beautiful setting and easy to get too, away from the hustle and bustle. Service was great, we were seated on time and attentive staff. The menu could’ve been more extensive especially at lunch time, some lighter options would have been nice. Also floury baps for burgers aren’t the nicest, brioche is much tastier. Also serving ketchup in sachets is so annoying, bottles or little dishes are much better. But overall we would return on our next trip to Chester Zoo. Thank you
Love the Zoo therefore like a wander through the animals on the way to a lovely meal.
