We loved everything about it. The best part was the service. Our server was amazing!
This was the 2nd time I've been for Sunday brunch and bottomless mimosas, with friends! The food is delish, and their mimosas are mixed perfectly , not too much OJ!
Server was OUTSTANDING, food was great, Bloody Mary was so so, Coffee excellent, rabbit was very nice and intriguing combination
My wife and I were looking forward to trying this restaurant, however it did not live up to the reviews and price. We seldom leave reviews and we are not picky people. Overall the whole experience was just flat. Food was pricey but average. Service was okay but server seemed detached for a high-end restaurant. Atmosphere was not cozy or relaxed...way too many servers and staff walking all over the place. Décor was really great and the style is smart, but it just fell short in too many other areas for us to come back. If you go, keep your expectations in check.
As a resident of Columbia my wife and I had not been to the oak table. We have been meaning to go for years as we have heard good things. We decided to go for our anniversary on Thursday night. We knew it was going to be pricey. We both ordered a filet. Mine was medium rare hers medium. I added lump crab oscar and hers with mushroom sauce. When they arrived hers was rare. Mine looked like medium, but was acceptable. The waitress and manager came quickly and said to her... “well it is a thick steak, that happens sometimes”. They took hers to correct the problem. Meanwhile I ate my whole meal reluctantly in what seemed like 15 minutes (understandably). Then once hers arrived she had to eat hers alone.
So in summary we were disappointed with really no apology. No hey let me get you another glass on the house while you wait. No here is a dessert on the house. Just a sorry that happens. Meanwhile. It was $154 for 2 glasses of house wine, 2 -8oz filets, and a table side of collard greens. I would recommend another establishment in the area for a nice meal.
Extremely enjoyable dinner for prom night
My wife had the catch of the day and I had the 16 oz. rib eye. Both were delicious and well prepared. I was a little put off by the need to order ala carte vegetables to go with my steak, as they were sized and priced for two or more. My wife's dish and all the other non-steak entrees came with veggies and she didn't want more potatoes on top of those on her plate. If you need to make more money on top of a $40 steak, I think it would be better to have individual size side dishes.
Everything was great, except that we had a reservation and we were seated on a bench right between the only other two couples in the restaurant. All of the other tables were open.
We ate there twice since the first time was so great. On visit one on a Saturday, the Pimento Bacon spread, not on the menu was fantastic. Unfortunately, two days later it was unavailable. The meat charcuterie was delightful with an excellent liver pate'. On visit one, the CAB steak was very flavorful. On visit two on a Monday., the pork loin was dry and over cooked. however, eat at the bar which overlooks the State Capital at night and is the best view in town.
It was delicious, the menu was creative and so were the drinks. The waiters were very nice and attentive. The restaurant had a nice setting and the decor was fun.
The chicken in a waffle was horrible. But the manager took it off my bill. Please return to the old way of cooking it.
Enjoyed a great evening for my husband birthday. Great food and wine. Fun and romantic atmosphere.
Spent a night in Columbia during the Master's Tournament and was lucky enough to find this gem of a restaurant. From the initial drink at the bar to every aspect of the meal the experience was first rate. Food was great, service was great, even the bread course was great. Would certainly go back if I'm ever in Columbia again.
Had a dear friend in town so we decided to treat ourselves and The Oak Table did not disappoint! New grilled Caesar salad was enjoyed by all at the table and the steaks were delicious-will definitely be back!
The staff was not friendly,Menus hard to read due to low ink in the printer...seriously, Crazy for higher end restaurant. The food was creative and good. Thinking we caught them on a really off night.
The food was very good, but we waited 15 minutes for our drinks, another 15 for our appetizers and over an hour from when we ordered our brunch. The manager apologized, but they were not busy when we came and they were just not prepared at 10:30 when they opened.
Jamie was awesome! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Great night 😊
The music and ambiance was loud for a business dinner. Recommend accommodating a quieter location in the restaurant when event room is occupied. Food and service was excellent.
The food is excellent, service was prompt and attentive.
First, we were made to wait 15 minutes for our table even though it was open. Then when we sat down, the seats had tap on them and sloped down. Could never get comfortable. Service was horribly slow. Took forever to order and then longer to get our food. Over 45 minutes to get a cold egg sandwich with under cooked bacon. Nasty. I hated the meal, hated the service and felt we were disrespected. Never again for this horrid place.
Our server Jamie was attentive and overall simply WONDERFUL! We all loved our meals and were able to have a meaningful and quiet discussion on upcoming projects. Will definitely be back for more business meals!
Wine and beer selection was excellent, as were the Grilled Day Boat Scallops, Snow Grouper, and Cider Braised Carolina Heritage Pork. Our server was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. Really wanted the desserts to be better: Palmetto Porter Cake and Blueberry "Cheesecake". After such a great meal, they were a bit of a letdown--not terrible, just not as good as what came before them.
Great service. Oyster bisque was delicious. Black drum on spinach was good combination. Chicken pot pie was a little bit too salty.
Always a great place to celebrate or just grab a drink. Food it amazing, great service and killer drinks!
This place was recommended to me while traveling to Columbia and it was fantastic! The food, service and atmosphere are all top-notch. The tables are a bit close together though so I did feel like we were on a date with the table next to us. We tried the mussels, fish of the day, and the duck. I would definitely get the mussels again, the sauce that it's served with is to die for. The duck is also a repeat dish. The fish was good, but not something I'm raving about, was a bit bland. But to top it all off, a must-have for the night... if you like an old-fashioned, they have the best!!
Excellent service. Food was prepared and tasted awesome. Great choices on the menu and this restaurant never fails to satisfy. I was entertaining two new clients and one of our Corporate Managers and all were extremely pleased with the overall experience.
From the incredibly delicious food to the amazing service, it was all wonderful! We went for brunch and really enjoyed the Roasted Red Pepper Pimento Cheese, Pastry Board, Eggs in Purgatory, Bangers and Hash, Bacon, Egg and Goat Cheese Sandwich, C.A.B. Breakfast Burger and Bread Pudding French Toast. We also enjoyed some mimosas, Sweet Carolinas and a Pimm's Coupe. We have been to Oak many times, but this was our favorite experience!
Dining at the Oak Table is always a fun experience. The creative, absolutely delicious dishes are a treat. It was apparent that our waiter truly loves what he does. He offered excellent advice on food choices and gave very good descriptions of the food about which we were inquiring. Will definitely be back!
My overall dining experience at The Oak Table ranks among the best I’ve had. The meal was outstanding, and was complemented by outstanding service. I will most definitely be dining here again the next time my travels take me to Columbia.
Bar - outstanding. We had martini’s, Manhattan’s and several of us had various glasses of high-end selection wines.
Appetizers- charcuterie plate - prepared and presented very well. It’s about the compliments of food on the board. Well done!
Mains: Tile Fish was cooked on point with a light and soft creamed curry. Tender but firm vegetables and a sweet essence scent to the dish. We complimented this light dish with a side of charred Brussels for heartiness.
Desert: bread pudding period!
Thanks for a great meal!
Still waiting for them to pick up their game ... limited menu ... nothing that really makes you scream “I gotta come back here”
Seems like they are trying too hard. We were a bit early for our reservation & didn’t mind waiting, but they seemed intent in having us wait just to create the illusion that they were busy (they weren’t at that time). They are very proud of their “farm-to-Table” concept, but since we’re from the farm-to-Table Mecca of Asheville, this paled in comparison. The staff was pleasant but seemed on edge - not sure what that was about. Service for our entrees was excruciatingly slow, and the food, while ok, was not worth the wait. My husband found a shard of glass in the butter provided w/ the pastries, likely the result of a dropped container that we witnessed earlier. Verdict: over-rated, over-priced; no need for a return visit.
Our meals were excellent and the server very attentive. We had a lovely view of Gervais street and the capital building. The portions were just right!
Loved it! Great food and atmosphere!
We went for brunch. The food was not that great. I will give them props for their customer service. I got a man alcoholic beverage that was honestly awful and barely touched it. The waitress removed it from our tab. She was really good overall. I probably won’t be going back though.
Great experience from the moment we entered the restaurant to the moment we left. Excellent food and service.
Our waiter ,Cameron, was very good.. sense of humor and very attentive. Food was excellent!
Had a great time and had very good meal, we will be back.
I've had good dining experiences here, but this was my first and last brunch. It was not crowded, but it took almost an hour to get our food and another table that ordered well after we had ordered received their food first. When I noted this to the server, he said it was because we ordered the fritters which were homemade! The chicken in the chicken and waffles was burned and dried out, and had to be sent back. A manager allowed us to order a burger (which was a little undercooked) and apologized that the chicken and waffles had not been up to their standards. The server brought us some deviled eggs because of the wait, which I thought were gratis, but then there was a charge for them on the bill. They credited me $26 for "kitchen gifts" which was the cost of the chicken and waffles, fritters and deviled eggs.
