The Oak Table Ratings and Reviews
Overpriced for what you get. My $35 steak was as good as any at Longhorn. Another entree at the table was a beef rib that was 75% fat. It was a mess to try to eat. Even though the bone was out for some reason it was on the plate taking up a ton of space. With all that fat to pick through the bone was in the way. The dessert was definitely worth the $8. The wedge salad was worth the $11 as well.
I've been 4 or 5 times and had unremarkable experiences. This is the first time I felt motivated enough to leave a review. So maybe a good place to go for small plates and dessert but skip the entree if price matters.
The Oak Table never disappoints but last night was by far superior! My husband said his quail entree was the best entree he had EVER had anyplace. The butternut squash salad could be a meal on its own. Delicious! The service is always wonderful and Cameron went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was awesome!
Ryan was our server and he was amazing! His mastery of the menu was the finest detail of the experience. He was able suggest the best items from the menu to fit our dairy-free, no beef, no pork "food profile." Great attention to the details of our meal could be observed from the managers' whispers to the chef to the runner who delivered our entree. Having food sensitivities often garner exasperated responses, which produces exasperating experiences. On the contrary, Ryan and the team gave us concierge treatment. As the menu evolves to include more options that fit within our "food profile" (adopted from Ryan) :-) we will happily return!
Date night with my husband for our second visit to Oak Table. Disappointed that with a reservation we waited for 35 minuets for a table. Once seated we were crammed between 2 couples so tightly it was uncomfortable. Even the wait staff can’t stand beside the table without their rear being in someone’s face. Table service was good and food was average but in all it was a very pricey experience.
Disappointed in not being seated quickly even with a reservation. 25m early arrival but had to wait until exact reservation time even though the table was available. The manager didn't visit or acknowledge until the bill arrived. The wait staff chatted and fixed their hair in view of the customers an an open kitchen area. In the open kitchen area, one preparer wiped his face, and his ear without gloves or washing. The valet wasn't at his station when we arrived after our meal. Very disappointed in this caliber of restaurant given the expense and expectation. Both entrees were good, but on the "cold" side as if they weren't served when ready.
Very good meal and an attentive service staff. Group had a mix of ravioli and quail. Both meal choices were excellent. Couple of requests for extra bread were met quickly. Nice cocktails before meal. All in all and good place for a nice meal on any occasion.
Party of 12 - 2 reservations of 6 each for the same time. They sat the first 6 and would not seat the other due to "lack of enough menus" and "not wanting the kitchen staff to get backed up". However, only 2 other tables had customers and 2 customers sat at the bar. Otherwise, the place was empty. Food came out and steaks were tough and chewy. Hamburger was raw after ordering well done. Hamburger came out a second time and was still undercooked. Management handled well by comping bill. Server and bartender were excellent. However, would not revisit.
Server was too chatty about nothing each. Each course took an unreasonably amount of time to come out of the kitchen at 8:30pm on a Sun evening w/few guests in the restaurant.
Value proposition was missing.
Octopus tender, Strip Steak chewy and charred broccolini was cold.
This was a first date dinner. Service was perfect and the food couldn’t have been better and very well presented. There were three people standing directly behind me talking loudly which took away some of the ambiance of the place. Overall a good experience that I would return for.
Had reservations yet were made to wait 15-20 minutes, even though there were many open tables and many servers standing around. They sent several people to sit at the bar before seating, a ploy to get you to buy a drink, perhaps? Food was okay, but not great. 1/4 of my chicken dish was too tough to cut with the table knife. Our waiter was pleasant enough but I will not be going back.
Stopped in before a live theater event in downtown Columbia. Had a nice table and great server who was very attentive. Sat at the bar for a couple craft cocktails prior to dinner and was impressed with the bar staff and their skill set. Drink menu on craft cocktails does change seasonally. Dinner is set in a small plate, large plate and desert style menu. Waiter somewhat pushed us to do all three and it is really more food than one needs. Two could easily share a small plate as an appetizer where we ended up ordering one each. Needless to say we skipped desert.
I would disagree that this is a $$ establishment. While the individual plates are not terribly expensive by the time you have a drink, add wine to your meal and order both a shareable and a large plate you are easily dropping a healthy amount for dinner for two. Quality of food and presentation was great but it was not what I consider in the $$ category for other open table reservations.
