Excellent service. Food was prepared and tasted awesome. Great choices on the menu and this restaurant never fails to satisfy. I was entertaining two new clients and one of our Corporate Managers and all were extremely pleased with the overall experience.
From the incredibly delicious food to the amazing service, it was all wonderful! We went for brunch and really enjoyed the Roasted Red Pepper Pimento Cheese, Pastry Board, Eggs in Purgatory, Bangers and Hash, Bacon, Egg and Goat Cheese Sandwich, C.A.B. Breakfast Burger and Bread Pudding French Toast. We also enjoyed some mimosas, Sweet Carolinas and a Pimm's Coupe. We have been to Oak many times, but this was our favorite experience!
Dining at the Oak Table is always a fun experience. The creative, absolutely delicious dishes are a treat. It was apparent that our waiter truly loves what he does. He offered excellent advice on food choices and gave very good descriptions of the food about which we were inquiring. Will definitely be back!
My overall dining experience at The Oak Table ranks among the best I’ve had. The meal was outstanding, and was complemented by outstanding service. I will most definitely be dining here again the next time my travels take me to Columbia.
Bar - outstanding. We had martini’s, Manhattan’s and several of us had various glasses of high-end selection wines.
Appetizers- charcuterie plate - prepared and presented very well. It’s about the compliments of food on the board. Well done!
Mains: Tile Fish was cooked on point with a light and soft creamed curry. Tender but firm vegetables and a sweet essence scent to the dish. We complimented this light dish with a side of charred Brussels for heartiness.
Desert: bread pudding period!
Thanks for a great meal!
Still waiting for them to pick up their game ... limited menu ... nothing that really makes you scream “I gotta come back here”
Seems like they are trying too hard. We were a bit early for our reservation & didn’t mind waiting, but they seemed intent in having us wait just to create the illusion that they were busy (they weren’t at that time). They are very proud of their “farm-to-Table” concept, but since we’re from the farm-to-Table Mecca of Asheville, this paled in comparison. The staff was pleasant but seemed on edge - not sure what that was about. Service for our entrees was excruciatingly slow, and the food, while ok, was not worth the wait. My husband found a shard of glass in the butter provided w/ the pastries, likely the result of a dropped container that we witnessed earlier. Verdict: over-rated, over-priced; no need for a return visit.
Our meals were excellent and the server very attentive. We had a lovely view of Gervais street and the capital building. The portions were just right!
Loved it! Great food and atmosphere!
We went for brunch. The food was not that great. I will give them props for their customer service. I got a man alcoholic beverage that was honestly awful and barely touched it. The waitress removed it from our tab. She was really good overall. I probably won’t be going back though.
Great experience from the moment we entered the restaurant to the moment we left. Excellent food and service.
Our waiter ,Cameron, was very good.. sense of humor and very attentive. Food was excellent!
Had a great time and had very good meal, we will be back.
I've had good dining experiences here, but this was my first and last brunch. It was not crowded, but it took almost an hour to get our food and another table that ordered well after we had ordered received their food first. When I noted this to the server, he said it was because we ordered the fritters which were homemade! The chicken in the chicken and waffles was burned and dried out, and had to be sent back. A manager allowed us to order a burger (which was a little undercooked) and apologized that the chicken and waffles had not been up to their standards. The server brought us some deviled eggs because of the wait, which I thought were gratis, but then there was a charge for them on the bill. They credited me $26 for "kitchen gifts" which was the cost of the chicken and waffles, fritters and deviled eggs.
Amazing food and service. Somewhat tucked away but certainly a hidden gem.
We came for dinner while visiting our daughter at USC. The food was very good and our server was very knowledgeable and pleasant. However, the amount of time from when we sat down until when we received our entrees was very long. Our dinner reservation (for 5 people) was at 7:30 and we were there until 10:30. Many staff came over to apologize for the delays saying they had a lot of walk ins and were extra busy. However, we had a reservation and not every table in the restaurant was filled when we arrived. Then our server recommended two desserts which we ordered, but by that time, they were out of both. The ambience in the restaurant is very nice and it is quiet enough to have a nice conversation with the people you are dining with. The food is very good and we like the farm to table idea. Again the servers and other staff were very attentive and nice, just took a long time to actually get our dinners.
This was the first time we were here and we will definitely come back. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. CJ was our waiter and he was so knowledgeable and attentive. The whole experience was outstanding!
It was incredible
Great service, classy oaky gem with oaky scents, mediocre food.
Our server, Cameron, was amazing!! The food was awesome as always and it made our Valentine’s Day/Anniversary extra special. Always a great experience.
I checked into my Main Street hotel and walked three blocks to the Oak Table. On Valentine's Day. The place was slammed but I got the last seat at the bar. I really like this place. I was greeted warmly by many of the restaurant staff. And the dishes were wonderful.PEI mussels in a gorgonzola cream sauce. In a nod to fish chowder, the kitchen added diced potatoes. Grilled bread to sop up the sauce. Next a classic beef tartar adorned with a local quail egg yolk. My only note to the kitchen on this dish is that the plating on a narrow plank was awkward. Great flavors. The bartender who served me was professional and attentive.
A good meal with great service and excellent ambiance.
We had a great meal at oak table. We reserved the table through open table. The time options open table gave us were 515 and 730 but was looking for 630. We booked for 730. The following day I received a call from the oak table who gladly changed our reservation to 630. I was told they don't know why open table would only suggest those other two times. Guess it's may be an issue since they call to confirm reservations.
Oak Table- Will visit again
Open Table- I will use again but will follow up with a call to the restaurant before we go.
Great food and great service! Shoutout to Breanna for an awesome experience! Will be back!
The food was a bit frustratingly slow as we had plans for afterwards, but once it arrived it was one of the best tasting meals I've had in a while. Oak Table always has the ability to surprise you with their recipes, but in this case it was a case of near flawless execution.
The bread pudding French toast for brunch was out of this world.
Nice warm friendly and relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the company of friends and a great meal!
Our server and the staff were excellent!
Loved my drink! A Primm’s Coupe! Food was delicious!
Food was very good. Portions were adequate. Drinks were a little slow. Needs just a slightly larger menu. Will go back.
Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, complimentary valet was a nice, needed touch. The food was delicious and unique; the duck was phenomenal as well as the cauliflower sformato.
Great service from our server C.J. Food was very good and the cocktails were unique.
Love the food, atmosphere, service, and location. Can’t go wrong !!
Great food and service!
Always come here while we are visiting Columbia as we live the fresh & delicious menu. Many thanks for recognizing that your kitchen was busy & giving us an appetizer at no charge. It was greatly appreciated & just another reason why we will return.
Immaculate. Without a doubt the best dining experience we’ve ever had.
Service was amazing, and the food was delicious. I got laid soon after.
The food was fantastic and the menu was easy to navigate as it is not overloaded with choices, probably why we all had a great meal. By the way the Capital is across the street with an impressive view. I'd recommend it for business or pleasure.
Great service. KC Strip was excellent - cooked, seared, and seasoned perfectly. Wine list was just okay - a few low end and many high end choices, not much in the mid-range in terms of quality and variety that you would want to see for a business meeting where you don’t want to go cheap, but don’t want to go crazy either. Still, all in all, a great experience.
We came here to have brunch, celebrate a friend's birthday. We stood at the door and waited quite some time for someone to appear, which is odd since business was slow. We were brought to a table that wobbled so much my water spilled. I wound up going to the bar and just grabbing some napkins to shove underneath the leg. Our server, Ryan was fantastic! He certainly brought back our spirits and his presence assured us that we would have a good time. The pimento cheese was good although surprisingly very, very spicy, more so than other times I've had it. Bacon egg and cheese was fantastic, Chicken and Waffles had a chicken breast that was fried so hard I don't know how they sent it out of the kitchen. The meat was dry, the crust was burnt. The breakfast Burger came out near raw, returned it, it came back over done. The manager kindly took it off the bill. All in all it was an OK experience, somewhat dissapointed. But the service and ambience was wonderful. Considering they have literature at the door as you enter that says, "people don't go out just to eat, they go for the experience", I wish there had been a little bit more attention to detail.
If you go, ask for Jamie. He was an amazing waiter! We went for our 2nd Anniversary. 3 course meal with 2 alocholic beverages each for $175. Good portion sizes too. You really can't beat that. Very quiet and romantic atmosphere. An ambulance passed by and the place is so well insulated that we couldn't hear the siren at all. Beautiful place. We will be back for my birthday. :)
