We are Chicago’s first cider pub and bistro. We draw influence from the great cider producing regions of the world, not only in beverage offerings, but cuisine, décor and music, in an intimate and welcoming setting. In addition to serving cider, apple-based spirits, and cocktails, we have a world class selection of beer, wine, and spirits to satisfy all.

Meh, food was not very good. Pumpkin soup was basically a huge bowl made out of canned pumpkin. We had fish and chips and the mussels. Nothing memorable and didn't finish either. Skipped dessert due to the couple next to us leaving most of their's, so figured no good. Cider selection was good though. Too many other places to choose in chicago to put up with bad food.

Great place to have dinner and try different ciders! I enjoy their Monday cider schools.

I will recommend this place for the incredible list of ciders. It must be around 50 possibilities of enjoying this drink. But it will be better to eat somewhere else, the menu is very basic and the the food is just ok. Too bad...

Lovely off the beaten path brunch place. The buckwheat crepe and salmon croissant were both delicious; not overly generous portions but the food is genuinely delicious!

The cider and calvados menu is unparalleled in the city. Staff are pleasant, well informed and did not hover - which increasingly in this city is very welcome!

Food menu while not extensive- did have me genuinely flummoxed on what to order as there were at five options which appealed: deciding on the above noted options. Next time the broccoli salad and squash soup are definitely
front runners.

Staff were very helpful in navigating a complex drink menu that I frankly knew nothing of.....in addition, a special tasting flight of world class ciders were personalized based upon our unique tastes.

A wonderful way to spend an grey early spring afternoon. Highly recommended.

I expected a traditional British pub. I experienced something like a truck stop. Ugly, noisy, uncomfortable. The ciders are fun but unexceptional. The food is limited and not tasty.

Upon first looking at the menu, my boyfriend were unsure we were going to be able to find anything we liked. We decided on The Melt and Spicy Doner Kebob and both loved our meal. The drinks here offered a wide variety and were also good. Would definitely come back

One of my favorites in Chicago. The cider menu is diverse and voluminous. Lots of great options. They also have a good selection of beer and liquor. The döner kebab is amazing.

We love cider and thus loved Northman; such an extensive menu of ciders and cider infused cocktails. Several 4oz cider samples, the Ploughman's platter, chips and apple cider donuts put us into happy food/drink comas. It was crowded and pretty loud so I wouldn't recommend it for quiet conversation kind of date, but great for a Saturday night out in winter.

The cider list is expansive, the service terrific. The kitchen was slow though we were there by 6PM. Recommend the mussels, the kale-arugula salad, fish & chips, and the kabob sandwich. Not recommend the coq au vin (undercooked) or the risotto (flavorless). Still, the place was warm, charming, and congenial. We enjoyed and will be back.

Who knew there were so many ciders! Enjoyed the sample they gave when we were seated. Waitstaff was knowledgeable,...I like small plate dining but the ploughmans plate was too expensive for the amount of tastes.

My husband and I have been coming regularly since this place opened. It has a fantastic (and huge) cider and Calvados selection. The food is excellent as well! The ambiance is cozy where you can really get into a good conversation with whomever you're there with. The wait staff and bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and friendly and they love to give you any assistance you might need in picking from their menu.

Wonderful service! Good cheeses but very small portions. Unfortunately had a very loud person at the table next to us, which cast a pall over the experience.

This was the second time my boyfriend and I had been to The Northman. We had the BEST bartender for our first visit - welcoming, informative, chill, funny, made us feel at home and introduced us to very interesting ciders. Our most recent experience for date night was still great, the food was phenomenal and the habanero cider was a hands-down favorite. It was hard to live up to our first bartender though. Overall, would recommend to friends and would strongly consider returning.

Cider options are outstanding. So many choices and great guidance from our server; which was sorely needed because we were not very knowledgeable about cider but wanted to do something different for dinner. We enjoyed all the options selected. Food was just okay, nothing memorable and sadly, the much anticipated cider donut was on the dry side. I gave them 4 stars because the overall experience was about the cider and that was phenomenal but the food was only so-so. But again, excellent customer service and our party had a good time.

I love going to Northman! They have the best cider selection I’ve ever seen, and the staff is super nice and knowledgeable. Even though I go there for the cider their food is also incredible. Probably one of the best burgers in Chicago.

Look -- this is among the best pubs in Chicago. It has a deeply knowledgeable staff and the Cider collection makes that knowledge all the more exciting and enlightening to engage with.

The food is rustic yet clever. Top-notch ingredients and execution, great day-to-day specials (Tue. is 1/2 off the best fish and chips around), and the spritzer bottle of malt vinegar is revolutionary and I will now think any pub lacking such a tool to be an anachronism.

The staff show their personality and make the whole experience feel all the more genuine -- no fake smiles and over-the-top friendliness, but also the team doesn't seem to have any bad attitudes and will engage you -- particularly in conversations about cider, perry, brandy, et al.

I recommend the Northman frequently and review rarely -- patronize these fine people and definitely start with a Spanish long-pour!

I love that this place is such a unique establishment. Truly none other like it in Chicago. A Belgian brew pub dedicated to delicious ciders is not a common find. We like to introduce other people to this place so that they can easily fall in love too.
